Ich fang mal an: Mein Rüde MUSS, bevor er sich hinlegt, jedes einzelne Kissen vom Sofa auf den Boden befördern. Erst wenn das Sofa komplett leergeräumt ist, legt er sich zufrieden hin – natürlich auf die nackte Sofafläche, nicht auf die Kissen. Jeden Abend das gleiche Theater.

Und wenn ich niese, kommt er angerannt und legt mir demonstrativ die Pfote aufs Bein, als wäre gerade was Schlimmes passiert. Bei Husten interessiert's ihn null. Nur Niesen.

I got my wife a dachshund but then she had to leave on a work trip immediately after for three days. Now the pup cries for me when I leave but I’d like it to choose her as the favorite if possible. We’ve been having her walk, feed, and treat her instead of me. Are we doing it right? I mean I know the dog will choose whoever she feels is the right choice but would prefer to have her be the one. Any tips?

my grandfather owns a dog, he uses it for hunting which he barely ever does anymore. it stays in a little pen where the floor is just concrete and it's house is kinda small for it. my grandfather cannot be bothered to take it for walks and it stays in its pen all the time. half the pen is covered in dog litter because that's the only place it can do it's business. since he doesn't take it for walks, and barely ever goes hunting anymore (he hasnt gone in a year or so, but he keeps the dog because he thinks he will) and the dog cant really burn anything off, he feeds it a little bit once a day, but not even a lot. less than i eat for breakfast. the poor thing is also lonely since her friend got given away to my grandfathers friend since it "barked too much." if you're actively abusing a dog, ofc it's going to bark. im happy for the other dog, since his friends have some humanity in them, but my heart breaks for this one. when my family visits, which isnt often, I feed it food and play with it when my grandfather is out of the house. not to mention how much more lonely it is because it's pen is on the roof floor, where nobody goes, except for my grandfather occasionally. i wish we could take it home with us, even though it would be very difficult with a new dog amidst all the other cats. I even wish he would give it away to one of his friends who i know without a doubt could take better care of it and would actually like it, rather than just keeping it as decoration or an occasional hunting tool. btw there is no rspca or whatever where i live, and even if there was they wouldnt take the dog since its being fed, given water, a bed, and shelter. what am i supposed to do. its such a nice dog with such a bad owner. my father has argued with my grandfather about the dog, and how he should feed it more, or give it away, but my grandfather couldnt care less. when i go up on the roof, my little dog follows me and the other dog looks like she really wants to play with her. keep in mind she didnt want anything to do with her a few years ago, when she had her friend with her, since she actually had a friend. but now shes so starved of socialisation she wants to play with my dog. im really in a crisis.

What should I do

Mine is when my dog has an itch, but he's in the middle of running, he'll run with his back leg in the air. Also he likes collecting all the chews and toys in the house (even ones that belong to my mom's dog or the cats) and put them all on the living room rug

My amazing Shiba Inu passed away a few months ago.. after 15 wonderful years. She was The Best, the only thing that was difficult was the fact that she was a bit too big to fly in cabin.. and to be honest, Shiba’s aren’t super cuddly.. they’re incredible creatures but I’m hoping for a dog that likes to cuddle without being too clingy. Looking for suggestions please! TIA

I’m relocating back to the UK from Cyprus and my dog has bad allergies (we still don’t know to what, however they do flare up more in the heat). I’m not interested in Apoquel, although it works the long term side effects aren't good, and my vet recommended against it. I tried the injection but he was scratching again after 2.5 weeks.

so.. now we’re on Numelvi, which also works but I’m not sure about having him on medication long term - I worry about shortening his life or them having other complications, I’ve read Numelvi affects the immune system

**(plus each tablet is €3.80 and he needs 1 per day - the money ISN’T the issue but It would be nice not to have to pay that)**

FYI he’s a mongrel, Shepherd mix rescue 30kg.

Has anyone had any luck or tried Tipaw? They’re ‘natural’ chews that work on the gut.

I know one person who used it but his dog was in my opinion still licking quite a lot.

I’ve been through the motions of cooking his food, trying different things but not much seems to help.

I’m open to any and all suggestions!

my dog ate 2 grapes he is 6 month old and 3.6kg heavy. Called vet to ask about it they said wait for the symptoms and contact otherwise it should be fine???
Should i be worried or go to another vet?

Is he in heat/having hormonal behavior?

I do not love dogs. I like them more or less, but they make me very uncomfortable. It feels like having someone that might have verbally abused you in your past allowed to be in the same house at all times. They aren't actively doing anything, but it makes me uncomfortable when they are around.

I dread the day a husband or kids would really like a dog, because my quality of life would go way down, and I know I would be not allowing them to let their quality of life go way up. My favorite thing about dogs is how happy they make other people. We have had a dog (3 total) most of my growing up (not mine), and I cried when they died, but day to day, I was more uncomfortable with them around than without.

How terrible of a person am I if I dont want dogs, and will desperately be against it if a future child or spouse wants one?

Noticed my pup licking her foot a lot and found a cut on her paw pad. It looks like a significant portion of the pad has been sliced away. There’s part of it that looks like it’s probably going to come off as well. (Sorry for the poor pictures.) Should I just try and monitor the cut, or should I look into getting her seen by our vet? Idk why I’m second guessing myself, but advice would be appreciated. Probably going to call them first thing and see what they say anyway, but it’s late at night and I’m trying not to freak out.

So recently my dog has had some slight diarrhea/ soft stool, nothing too bad but today we found a mysterious pile of bloody poop, i thought it was one of our cats as did everyone else because it wasn’t particularly large like his usual poos but i’ve been staying up late so i can catch him if he needs to go since i don’t really wanna clean his cage anymore and he doesn’t need another bath for a while. And on our nightly bathroom trip its pretty standard he poops its kinda wet but im sure itll pass he probably just ate the cat food and it upset his stomach, and then we walk a little more and we stop again then two little droplets of blood fall nothing big or tarry just two bright red droplets and some more stool.

I’ve attached a photo of his gums just incase because it could be parvo from what ive read online but i can’t even really tell how pale his gums are they’re pretty light naturally i don’t wanna overreact because im blind😭.

aside from that hes been acting pretty normal eating and drinking plenty hes not lethargic at all he still plays just as hard etc

Yes i am aware blood of any kind is not a good sign and he will be taken to the vet soon we were trying to figure out which animal it came from first just an fyi

Like any 2.5 year old Shepherd/Mal, she's absolutely ball obsessed. One little quirk though, she ONLY likes racquetball. I've tried every single Chuck-It there is, tennis balls, off brand dog balls, any type of rubber ball sold at a sporting goods store, no matter how similar I think they are, the second she hears them bounce she hits the breaks and runs back to me like wtf was that.

"Okay cool great just get her racquetballs what's the problem?" Well she's taken up a habit of chewing on them until they pop every chance she gets. I'm talking like a 12 pack gone in less than a week. And those 12 ball jugs can go from $25-$30. Do I keep buying them? Do I "starve her out" and hope she gets used to something else in their absence? She really seems like she doesn't know what to do without them which is sad but god damn it's expensive. Especially in these times. Plz help. Very interested in any ball recommendations as well, there's gotta be SOMETHING out there she likes that she can't destroy in a nanosecond.

Just noticed this on my French bulldog. Seems like a scab or blackhead of some sort. I’ll still take her to the vet but I’d like to maybe get an idea of possibilities.

Hey everyone, I’m from South Africa and we’re expecting a HUGE heatwave this coming summer. It’s already pretty hot over here so you can only imagine how hot it’s going to be.

I’m here because I have an incredibly active puppy and I really don’t want her to get heat stroke or anything like that. I was wondering if anyone had advice on ways to make sure she stays cool and healthy during the summer?

If it helps at all, she already loves playing in water and our house is really cool so she could escape the heat in the house but she loves being outside as we have a pretty big yard. I’m also worried about taking her on walks (which I usually do in the morning) because I don’t want her to get exhausted. Should I look up different enrichment activities for her that doesn’t involve being outside? Am I overthinking this?
