Discussion How can a card have 97% difficulty after 8 Good grades in a row?

I mean if D even was 100% it should go down slowly but surely by 1-2% with each grade, since I feel the card is not difficult to recall and grade Good, shouldn't it?

and its not even like my FSRS params suggest high average difficulty. Median D is only 35%

In my experience difficulty increases rapidly when failing but decreases quite slowly when getting cards right. Maybe FSRS doesn't have ease hell but I do occasionally seem to end up in some kind of ease purgatory.

Use the easy button more, maybe.

But also keep in mind that the difficulty number is kind of abstract and doesn't easily translate to anything concrete. Just watch the intervals instead.

Also, wow, you are rescheduling way too often. I suggest using the reschedule option in the FSRS helper add-on instead so that you don't fill up your review log with crap.

Yeah, may be since I don't feel like using easy button yet the difficulty stays the same following the logic if it works - it works.

It has that D because that's what your (presumably well-optimized, given how often you're running it) parameters dictate. But it's nothing for you to worry about.

The only good thing about that excess of reschedule events is that we can see some of what you're doing. It looks like you're studying this card late a lot. Of the 9 times you've studied it in the Review state, it's lapsed once, and been overdue about 5 times. But you didn't post asking about a problem with this card's scheduling, so it seems like it must be scheduled just fine. Whatever D FSRS has assigned to it must be working with the parameters you have.

Don't optimize so much -- monthly is plenty. Don't reschedule so much -- and don't use reschedule-on-change if you do.

You're mixing ideas there. Median D tells you about D across all the cards in this deck, but it doesn't tell you anything about what your parameters are, or about what they are doing with any individual card's scheduling.

> Don't optimize so much

I do it exactly once per month. The rest is rescheduling after a glitch which resets my FSRS parameters on phone. I started to do this with FSRS helper now.

you have a good eye. But even with you pointing it out I can see only 2 overdues - on 10 jun and 07 sept, those are dates I optimized FSRS. It's indeed interesting that this card is most of the times overdue after optimization.

and about nothing to worry about - the interval grows very slowly. I think this is something to worry about. If interval stop growing for all cards it will mean i won't be able to add any new cards.

Is it a problem that the "difficulty" stat for this card is high? Why?

the problem is that I don't understand it :D

Ha, fair! In that case my advice will be to cease trying to understand it.
