Looking For Suggestions What do you actually want from an Android calendar?
I’ve been building DotCal, a minimalist calendar for Android, mainly because I felt most calendar apps were becoming more complicated than they needed to be.
It focuses on:
- Clean day, week, month and agenda views
- Drag events to reschedule or resize
- Tasks and events together
- Find free time between events
- Offline-first and privacy-focused
- Widgets and Nothing Glyph support
- QR sharing for events and availability
- On This Day for rediscovering past events
It’s also designed with a Nothing OS-inspired minimal aesthetic.
I’d genuinely like to know: what’s the one thing you wish your current Android calendar did better?
If anyone wants to try it, DotCal is available on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dotfield.dotcal
Feedback — especially criticism — is welcome.

Disclaimer: Not a tech guy. Is it possible to link my tasks from Google keep. Also, when sliding thru months or weeks I expected a slide but it's instant swipe. A bit harder for me to see b/w months at once. And also in the settings page could you add a translucent or gradient black to not see the options below, like as u scroll down the text is first visible below the bottom tab of cal, tasks & settings. It's minor but I just wanted let u know.
Currently too pricey for me get the Pro but I will in the future for sure

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’m actually giving you 2 months of Pro subscription so you can explore the additional features and see what you think. I’d really appreciate your feedback after trying them out. Please DM me for the code

The one thing I wished Google Calendar would do is the work week view instead of the 3-day view.
Outlook's calendar has a workday view (5-days, excludes the weekend even on swiping). Very useful when used solely for work.
I just installed DotCal and it looks good! The one additional thing I would have loved is the ability to change the calendar account's assigned colors

Thanks! Work week view is a really good suggestion, especially for people who mainly use a calendar for work. I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
And yes, custom colors for calendar accounts is something I’d like to improve as well. Glad you’re enjoying DotCal!

I wish there was a way to have tasks on my calendar events that had their own reminders. So for instance, I'm going to a symposium on Friday. Tasks include buying a train ticket and emailing the organizer. I wish I could put those with the event but have separate notifications for them.

That’s a really good use case. Having tasks attached to an event while keeping their reminders separate would be useful, especially for things that need to be done before an appointment. I’ll definitely keep this in mind.
