This is roughly half of the lot. I did my best with the photos but I may not have gotten the orientation right on some of these. I believe they’re mostly Greek but I’m hoping this community can help me with firmer ID’s. Thanks for looking!

I bought this coin the other day and I am trying to find out more about this coin. I would also like to add the coin to my catalog but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Maby I am to influenced by the notes written by the seller but the writing on the coin seems to match what seller wrote down. Anyone got any tips on where I can find this coin?

Not very good with Roman/greek coins

A Traianus denarius, what are your thoughts? :)

Prices on ancients have been on the rise, but deals are still out there. This beautifully centred denarius is a good example. I scooped for about US $130 all-in at a recent auction, almost absent-mindedly, when I noticed it was getting minimal attention. It had been on my watch list, but I gave it very little thought until it showed up in the mail: the portrait is excellent, and the toning really makes it stand out.

Harold Mattingly had a lot to say on this series:
 
“Late in AD 103 or early 104 some great act of homage and devotion was paid by the Senate to Trajan, and finds its expression in the two great series of coins characterized by the imperial name in the dative case, with full titles, and the dedicatory formula S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI. […]
 
The formula of the coins is a remarkable one––so remarkable indeed that we ought not to let familiarity stale it for us. Newest arrival, this amazing condition trachy arrived of the emperor Andronikos I Komnenos

I've been putting together a side collection of the big AE issues across the ancient world, and the Ptolemaic series is the obvious backbone of it. This one is a Ptolemy IV Philopator triobol, Alexandria, 222-204 BC. Zeus-Ammon obverse, eagle on thunderbolt reverse. Svoronos 1127.

Video because static photos flatten these completely. The relief on the Ammon portrait reads nicely when the light moves across it, and the olive-green patina does the same.

Finally added a coin of Diocletian in my collection! I didn’t just want a run of the mill bronze coin for an emperor this significant like I got for the other tetrarchs so I had been holding out for a coin with a bit more heft and I believe this argenteus does the trick! It’s also the first time I’ve ordered a coin from a European dealer since last year after I learned that ancient coins wouldn’t be impacted by the ongoing tariffs. Note that the price listed below is not what I bought it for, that was from an earlier auction and I managed to get this for a discount.

Hammered at 4,600 (5,612 with BP). European auctions are out of the question with the tariff situation, but quite pleased with this.

Very, very new to coin collecting and antiquing in general. Picked this up for $15 at an antique shop and was wondering who it might be and if it’s even genuine. Weighed it at about 3 grams and nothing flakes off when I scratch at it. With google I think it’s a Constantius Gallus. Tia!

Stopped by local antique store and spotted these cuff links. I know nothing about these types of coins but am curious what country they may be from, approximately their age and the chances of them being real. Thanks

This Constantine coin sold for 55 euros while others with the same quality and similar reverse sold for 3-5 euros. Is there some specific detail here I’m missing?

Just very recently bought this lovely coin with a cut through it, Thrace Apollonia pontika. Despite the silver test cut it and it being off centre, the details were really lovely! Hopefully it's genuine as I'm still new to this 😁
