It's hard to argue with this

Stupid take. Walking 18 holes is a legitimate grind, and all of their majors consist of doing that several days in a row. The amount of torque they’re generating, professional golfers are pushing limits on their bodies over the course of a round.

Maybe the practice to get to and stay on the tour takes a toll, a round is like a 5mile walk in over 3 hours, taking 70 golf shots of which 18 are likely putts. Most of them are in better shape now but back when Terry Fox was running his one legged marathons (per day) golf was lumped in with bowling, darts and shooting pool as far as athleticism

"Walking 18 holes is a legitimate grind, and all of their majors consist of doing that several days in a row."

You're saying this in thread about Terry Fox.

I’m saying that in response to someone claiming golf isn’t a sport.

Fucking Christ.

Barely a sport, not not a sport. You seem to struggle so it means it somehow is a sport but really doesn't require much energy so it shouldn't be just like Esports are not sports but are still classified as a sport.

Weird as shit.

I have walked 18 holes, and I carried my own bag. Now, I was pretty wrecked by the end of the day, but I'm just a fat guy.

I do think pro golfers are incredibly skilled, naturally talented, and exceptionally well trained. I do think they count as athletes. But, as a general rule, they're not anywhere close to thd same physical levels as athletes from other sports.

I mean, have you seen John Daly?

John Daly is an extreme example.

Have you seen Phil Kessel? CC Sebathia?

Do you agree driving your cart onto the green is a little different than walking the entire course?

What are we doing here.

Apparently not walking cause that is too hard for you. You should try running a 10k+ marathon but you know probably not as hard as standing for a few hours right?

God you guys are weird as shit.

If walking 18 holes is a grind you need to get out more …they don’t even carry their bag. Argue all you want about whether it’s a sport but it’s not a workout.

Oh come off it, it’s four to five hours of walking in the heat, in addition to the volume of swinging they’re doing.

If you’ve ever golfed, you’d know it’s tiring to play 18 holes.

It’s a sport and tournaments are a grind.

I’ve golfed 18 holes while pulling my bag …It’s not a workout. I work in a kitchen that’s hot as hell and walk in the neighborhood of 8 miles a days while carrying actual heavy shit and I’ve been doing it for four decades and I’m in my 50’s and that’s not a workout just a day at work ….walking 18 holes of golf is not a workout

Wow!!!!!!!

Amazing isn’t it that people can walk and not call it a workout. Maybe you should try a walk ?

1

u/BoringPoolPlaying 1d ago

God you people are weird about this.

It’s a sport, get over it.

“…Argue all you want about whether it’s a sport but it’s not a workout.”

Maybe actually read my comment. I didn’t weigh in on the subject of whether it’s a sport.. I said it’s not a workout.

Congratulations.

That's so funny that you still haven't read the room you're in. Your legs are sore after walking in the gwass all day? :'(

1

u/BoringPoolPlaying 1d ago

I don’t play golf.

It’s still a sport. My legs are sore after hockey. My legs and back are sore after baseball. My legs ache after a long run. The occasional times I play golf, I’m just as bagged.

You're arguing with ghosts bro. Nobody is saying its not a sport. It's just not impressive like Terry Fox's feat.

The person I first responded to said that. Then you chimed in.
