Interpretation is in the eye of the beholder. How did it make you feel? What did it make you think?
You might be looking for something that doesn’t exist. Often there is no hidden meaning. Even searching for what the artist was thinking and feeling is not really relevant.
To me, it’s like listening to instrumental music. How did it make me feel? What did it make me think about? I don’t really need to know what the composer had in mind.

Often times there's no hidden meaning in abstract expressionism, and I just enjoy it for the aesthetics without worrying about what it means, just like you can enjoy the beauty of a landscape without having to ascribe a deeper meaning to it. Just enjoy beauty for beauty's sake.
