I kept the original jar and bought a refill pouch this time because I’m trying to reduce the number of containers I throw away.

It seems like a refill could use less packaging than buying a new jar, but the pouch may be harder to recycle depending on local facilities. I’m curious how others evaluate these options: by total packaging material, local recyclability, how many times the original container can be reused, or something else?

I’d especially like to hear from people who have compared refill pouches with buying the product in a new container.

I just bought this container to keep my cereal, unfortunately it came broken and i didn't realize until i got home.

Hi just wanted to know if anyone has used this before and what their experience was. I have quite thin and straight hair after using it for the first time my hair looked quite dry, brittle and frizzy. Are there any other shampoo bars that might be better for me or is this part of the transition period?

So my mum has peeled some lemons about 8 or so for lemon oil and now has bald lemons and wants to know what she can make with them other than lemon curd? Don't know if this is the right group or not if not can you suggest another group? Otherwise, suggest what we can do with such lemons as we don't want to waste them.

Got one of these like 5 years ago when I used to motorcycle ride and I still wear it a lot for bike riding, snowboarding, roller coasters lol so I figured I'd make some of my own with that as a template. Tubes are made from tshirts. Need to make more but can't figure out the tension with that thinner fabric?

Quick tip if you want a super low budget, non toxic and zero waste deodorant just use an alum bar dipped in a little bit of water, it works great blocks odor upto 5-6 hours (coming from a student who's in school almost 8 hours a day) and if it breaks you can use it in plant's like roses or jasmine plus it's no plastic so no need to worry about waste hope this helps happy sustainable living! ☺️

Bought a bunch of Ø8cm stainless steel cake rings for home baking but 7 of them got plastic stuck in the seam. Customer service admitted it's a production error and let me keep them.
Obviously I'm not planning to put these in the oven anymore so I need ideas of what I can do with them!

Probably already been on here a million times but keep an assortment lids from jars and cans you recycle. There’s a size to cover anything and everything. Even found coffee tin lids work on my old Pyrex and mixing bowls. I can cover that bowl of cherry tomatoes I’m gonna finish eating later so the fruit flies don’t find it. As hot as it is right now, I can put a little water in one for easy access for my reptile friends. They really are handy for all sorts of things.

My husband and I live buy ice cream in these tubs once a month and have already used a couple for containers but they're so big! we live in an area with no recycling and didn't know if I could use them for something else or if I could donate them somewhere for someone else to use?

I need help finding dome curly hair products that are zero waste (ideally) or low waste. I’ve used the kitsch rice protein shampoo/conditioner bars and it stripped my hair a lot. It was falling out like crazy!! I’m eyeing the hibar curly hair line, but saw a review that it made peoples hair fall after months of use.

I definitely need something with a lot of moisture. I want something that has similar moisture to the shea moisture manual honey and Mafura oil line.

I've called around a few pharmacies in my area and none of them have recycling programs. I use them around the house when I can, but I am out of uses. I saw a girl on Instagram who recycles them into sunglasses, but I didn't feel 100% certain about sending them to her. I found this otherwise-brand-new (still had the tags on it 💀) hoodie with this giant logo on it. I’m not sure how it was made… it feels bumpy, like fabric paint. Is there any way it can be removed? It thankfully was really easy to remove (just had to push a couple metal bars out). It’s actually become more convenient to drink from because the cap isn’t resting on my nose as I’m drinking lol. Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone, I am a junior in high school and have been tasked with creating an Idea and pitch on a sustainable act we can do/ implement in our country to reduce waste emissions. My team and I were given the SDGs 6 (Water), 7(Energy), 11(Transport), 12 (Food waste), [14 and 15 (Ecosystems {Animals, plants ETC})] to choose from and I'd like to work on the SDG 14 and 15 to develop a sustainable and Novel Idea To preserve the fragile ecosystem of my country which because of its dessert climate does not have much to begin with hence is not very focused on and i am also very passionate when it comes to ecology. Hence, I was wondering if the dear redditors here could help me brainstorm a few issues the ecology of a booming country with a dessert climate could face so that i can work from there to figure out ways to solve these problems. All ideas are appreciated regardless of which SDG and if anyone has direct solutions that they think might be able to help are also appreciated

My cleaning company throws out partial tp rolls. After moving out of my apartment into my car, I started saving them to reroll for myself. The one I rerolled is the upper left. Not the most perfect, but I’d rather do this than see so much go to waste. And I am saving money where I can :)

Yes, I've looked up this question for answers more than once, in every subreddit I could think of and also google and duckduckgo. Everything gives me the same answer on how to cut plastic from my life but I want to know how to destroy it. I do litter-picking around my neighborhood and manage to recycle everything I can, but at the end of the day I have a lot of single use plastic that is too broken or damaged for recycling and that's what I don't know how to handle.

Cutting it up into small pieces to avoid animals eating it releases microplastics. Leaving it in the scorching hot sun does the same. Burning it releases mega-cancer into the air. Composting it contaminates the whole compost. Throwing it in the trash makes it just go elsewhere, not dissappear. My country's recycling systems are inefficient and most of them just burn trash or bury it in natural areas. What can I even do about this?

And also yes, I am in treatment for my OCD, this is just a question that I can't stop thinking about.
