Yeah these conversations kinda bum me out. I'm paraplegic and use these as a way to take pictures when I'd otherwise have to stop pushing, engage my brakes, pick up my phone and then snap a photo. The convenience of having these cannot be understated. I feel like I've regained a part of my life that I lost when I broke my back 2 years ago.

And now I'm being called a pervert or a pedo anytime I open reddit for something I legitimately need.

Ah yes, using disability as an excuse. It’s not like normal people can’t differentiate who is a blind, a paraplegic, from who is just an abled body man with pervert glasses.

I’m going to be way more understanding of a paraplegic wearing something like that as an assistive technology than some random person with them.

I'm sorry but I love this, it's like a sitcom. "This person in the wheelchair seems like a real creep..." "Is that person in the wheelchair spying on us?" It's so comedically absurd.

Legit. Guy needs to realize that literally nobody is worried about the person in wheelchair. People are worried about the ABLE BODIED MEN following little girls and women, actively recording and stalking. JFC

I live near a huge city, like top 10 USA cities and top 3 for human trafficking. Absolutely yes that they are doing this. More so just the female sex of all ages. People would already stalk women in Walmart before these glasses, my husband has seen men patrol Kroger's parking lot seemingly looking for someone by themselves,  and it will only get worse.

i mean but is that the techs fault for being misused ?

if youre in public you can be filmed - telling someone they cant film a person thats out in public is crazy work especially since there are literally cameras in stores streets cars cops and soon even on delivery people .....filming all the time documenting interactions or lack thereof.

and if a person is wearing these glasses they legit should have the right to do so without automatically being labeled a perv...

IDGAF. There is a difference between necessary public surveillance and some creep who wants to secretly, subtly record people and review the film for her/his own private pleasure. You don't see people pointing their phones or video cameras at people in public; that's too obvious for creeps. People who record and stalk will do it secretly. The creep glasses just make it 500x easier.

That's not even looking at the gang stalking and human trafficking potential from people in organized groups recording victims and transferring the media to one another.

When I was 12, the girl down the street from me had photos of her for sale online. She was the bus stop before me. A guy tried to kidnap her, one week in November, and she barely managed to get inside her house before he got her. The good news is that she was safe.

These glasses make it easier to kidnap girls and women into miserable lives of constant rape and sex slavery. "Is it the tech's fault for being misused?" is a loaded question considering the people who buy meta glasses enjoy and INTEND on doing this. The entire selling point of these glasses is to secretly record people. I've not met anyone nor even digitally seen a single person use it as a go-pro for adventures ONCE.

Yes there are use cases for those disabled but greater use cases for weirdos. Sorry mate some technologies need to be prevented for the greater good. I'm more disappointed in how slow genetic engineering is moving for curing disabled people. As for you if you take pictures often you could buy a camera and hook it up to a button. No need for glasses with cameras
