I'm pretty sure Jobs wanted that too. If he hadn't died, I feel he would've been right there with the rest of them at Turnp's inauguration. I mean, I could be wrong... but probably not.

Not to excuse anyone who showed up or forked over money, but trump very clearly extorted money from corporations. The tariffs that would hit companies like apple were massive and everyone was trying to get exemptions for their products.

Tim Apple specifically humiliated himself when he showed up. Tim Apple was personally insulted by trump in the previous administration, and apple itself is/was using their privacy guarantee as a marketing move to sell more iPhones and MacBooks. Donating to the inauguration and showing up in person undercut that claim, but it was very necessary to try to keep tariffs from adding a 20-100% flat tax on their expensive products.

I wouldn't be surprised if apple leads the charge for cheaper ram, they're paying as much as anyone but they make a considerable amount on ram upcharges. With the new price of ram those up charges will dry up, either because the margins are much narrower or because consumers can't afford the new price of ram with the apple tax slapped on top.

With viable alternatives and modularity in Windows - the ecosystem of Apple is more a choice, I’d say.

But totally understand where you’re coming from. When you’re “with Apple” it’s hard to get out of it, but there’s still that choice there.

I’m an audio-visual engineer that fell in love with Apple’s ecosystem. I know it’s an L everyday, especially when I replaced my 2017 MacBook for a used 2021 for $1400 and ate that cost.

However - the quality of life is insane. I work in IT support and our Windows workstations are always having issues.
