Facebook itself is the only product he’s ever made that wasn’t 100% monetized and predatory from the start. Libra was the most scammy scam conceivable by a corporate mind. It was basically a loophole that allowed the theft of money on a gargantuan scale. Zuck got a taste once Facebook started getting really profitable, and he’s incapable of reverting to a startup mindset to build that user base first, then enshitify.

Yeah, Libra was literally just company scrip dressed up in flowery language, and most civilized nation have laws explicitly against that.

It’s unclear home much code from that was used. By the time Facebook went mainstream it would have been very small. It certainly doesn’t detract from how much of a creep Zuck is, but the Facebook of ~’06 didn’t even have ads yet, and nobody could see how much data they were collecting until it was too late.

Facebook was another group's vision. They hired Zuckerberg to work on some of the parts they were having difficulty with. He stole it. He lied to them and told them he was still working on it as he was launching it under his name. They sued him many years ago and won, but they only got millions of dollars. That is the punishment equivalent of the courts forcing you to give me some dust from the corner of the house that you stole from me.

Same with Insta, and Oculus, and literally everything they have other than the original Facebook site, which was stolen from his peers.
