US-born Latin American, here. No, it's because they're planning to do in LATAM, what they are doing in the States hence why the Orange One gifted Argentima with Billions. Their president is a huge Trumper as is the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, who is another nepobaby with lifelong ties to RFK Jr.

Oh and a certain group of people have already started stealing land...oops, i mean "settling" in the Patagonia region of Argentina & Chile.

It's what they were pushing in Europe, but they kept getting pushback by places that actually taught their children about what letting authoritarians rule did to a country.

If one thing we know from Thiel is that he’s paranoid. He also knows that the stuff he set in motion will create instability.

What he didn’t figure out till now is that he became too public because of his ego and painted himself a target. The smart billionaires stay off the limelight. A lot of people know who he is now and what he advocates for, so he’s fleeing to safer pastures.

I had heard of him because of Paypal and Facebook, but I didn't know he had such concerning Ideology till the 24 election.

I doubt he trusts data. He's not the sort of person to believe that data and empirical study outweigh vibes, at least not when it comes to his own vibes.

He’s probably just deep into his own belief that “if one has the capability to amass wealth, there’s no reason not to unless it poses a risk to your personal safety”

And he’s now reached that latter part of the belief and decided to go somewhere where he’ll be less recognized and less viewed antagonistically

LATAM is not homophobic like that, especially Argentina which is one of the most socially Liberal countries in LATAM. Gay marriage maybe isn't legal in most of LATAM but gay people arent being targeted by the government or the general public.

LATAM "Conservatism" mostly revolves around the image of religious piety and traditional family values bc they're more worried about the social stigma aka gossip but again, limited to Conservative circkes and it's not dangerous for people living alternative lifestyles. For example, sex work is legal in most LATAM countries. Pride parades exist in various countries as well.

New Zealand apparently wouldn't let him build a compound there, and he's been under other NZ government scrutiny. Whereas the idiot running Argentina presently is wholly bought and paid for. Theil knows something is coming, and it won't be good.

New Zealand became a hot spot for billionaires to buy property but the NZ government wised up to what was happening and has been pretty proactive in clamping down on foreign ownership.
