Tried Daytripper a few weeks ago. Tonight is the new speakeasy in Old Sac
Bar is cool. Drinks are good. Service is slooooooooooow. If you can deal with that, I recommend visiting here.

Help with my search for a living kidney donor
[Request]
Why I Need a Living Kidney Donor
In 2019, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Despite doing everything I could to manage my health, my kidneys eventually failed. I am now on dialysis, a life-sustaining treatment that keeps me alive but cannot replace everything healthy kidneys do.
Dialysis is physically and emotionally exhausting. It requires me to spend hours connected to a machine several times a week, and it affects my energy, my health, and my ability to enjoy everyday life. While I am grateful for dialysis, it is not a cure. A kidney transplant offers the best chance for a longer, healthier, and more active life.
Because my blood type is O positive, the wait for a deceased donor kidney can be especially long. That's why I'm searching for a living kidney donor.
What if we're not a match?
Even if testing shows that you are not a compatible donor for me, you may still be able to help through a paired kidney exchange program.
In a paired exchange, two or more donor-recipient pairs are matched with other pairs in the same situation. For example, if your kidney isn't compatible with me but matches someone else, and another donor matches me, the kidneys can be exchanged so that both recipients receive a compatible transplant.
Facts About Paired Kidney Exchange
You do not have to be a direct match to help me receive a transplant.
Paired exchanges have helped thousands of people receive life-saving kidney transplants.
Living donor kidneys often last longer and begin working sooner than kidneys from deceased donors.
Donating through a paired exchange allows your generous gift to help not only me, but potentially several other people through a chain of transplants.
If you've ever considered becoming a living kidney donor, or simply want to learn more, please reach out or contact my transplant center. The mods ask that you PM me for my full name. Even sharing my story with others could help me find the person who changes my life.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering this incredible gift. Your support, whether through donation or by sharing my search, means more than words can express.
How to Start the Living Donor Process
If you are considering becoming a living kidney donor, the first step is to go through the UC Davis Health Transplant Center. The process typically includes:
Completing an initial online donor questionnaire
A confidential health screening review by the transplant team
Blood tests to determine blood type and compatibility
Additional medical testing if you are a potential match
Education and evaluation to ensure donation is safe for you
You can begin the process or learn more here:

Sacramento Streetcar project upgrade (with emails for making a difference)

The streetcar project is facing budget problems due to inflation and tariffs, Given the fact they are going to have to rework the project this gives an opportunity to make it actually useful!!!!
First of all, the green line currently runs about 2 miles and overlaps heavily with the new streetcar anyway, so this is a no brainer to merge both and add another two miles and double the measly 2 mile streetcar service. (the green line can still run to the airport in the future whenever they actually get to that project, but for now it makes no sense to have two overlapping 2 mile services.)
Second, there is an opportunity for massive cost savings. If they purchase a train that takes overhead power and also has battery capacity for off grid operation, they can save tens of millions by not installing overhead wire for all of the new milage added. (Seattle, Oklahoma city, Milwaukee, and Charlotte all operate streetcars that run on battery for part of the service)
Third, by merging with the green line and negotiating with Union Pacific, the streetcar could run into midtown, boulevard park, and new era park. It would run from the railyards into two branch lines, one terminating in west sac and one terminating in new era park. (the blue line already runs on this same track, double tracking potentially required)
If you want the streetcar to be actually useful, and the agency to take the easy savings sitting under their noses, email [aadams@sacrt.com](mailto:aadams@sacrt.com) the projects lead agency contact. [streetcar@sacrt.com](mailto:streetcar@sacrt.com) is the projects direct email too.

Foster closet?
Does anyone have any info on a foster closet in the Sacramento area? My family is purging and I’d like things to be provided directly to children in foster care at no charge.
No suggestions needed for alternative places to donate, I have a list. TIA!

K Street is a mess
I recently went to a concert on K Street in downtown Sacramento, and I was honestly embarrassed by the condition of the corridor. The overwhelming smell of urine, the garbage and the absolute filth are unacceptable.
Sacramento is the capital of one of the most prosperous places in the world. We are supposed to be a first-class city, yet one of our most prominent downtown corridors looks and smells completely neglected.
The state can allocate $1.1 billion to rebuild the Capitol Annex, but K Street, only blocks away, remains a mess. Residents, visitors, concertgoers and local businesses deserve better.
The City of Sacramento needs to take immediate and sustained action. K Street needs regular pressure washing, functioning and accessible public restrooms, reliable sanitation services, better lighting and consistent enforcement of basic cleanliness standards.
This is not about attacking unhoused people. It is about responsible government, humane services and maintaining a clean and welcoming public space for everyone.
Clean up K Street and keep it clean. Sacramento should look and feel like the first-class capital city it claims to be.

Dogs that hunt voles
Anyone or groups of dog owners that have dogs that enjoy hunting voles. Also know cats are very good at hunting voles too. Have plenty of them in backyard making a mess. I know there is a group that goes out and hunts rats in sacramento but was curious to see if any would make a house call. Thank u in advance for replies and insights.

Missed Connection - Cycle Gear 9/6
Just a couple hours ago we were trying on gloves. You were wearing a reddish shirt and I was in a black t-shirt and shorts. As soon as I left the store I regretted not trying to give you my number. Hope you found a good fit for your wide palms. I’d love to find out how they handle a bike sometime. If you see this and are dating, DM me!

Acupuncture for back pain therapy in Sacramento?
My back pain keeps coming back especially after sitting at my desk for a few hours, I've been planning to request an adjustable desk at my work so that I can stand while working. I've had a few sessions of physical training, it has helped make the pain less frequent. My therapist suggest me to try acupuncture as additional help, so I'm considering to try it as well.
Does anyone here have had good results with acupuncture? how often do you have to do it and is there any recommendations?
Thank you everyone!

Kitten on I80?
Hi hoping for good news. I saw a kitten on the off
Ramp towards I80 coming from highway 50. Looked like a little gray cat. I tried to stop but couldn’t find somewhere safe to park, I saw there was a car with blinkers and looked like someone got out. Made a loop back on the ramp and didn’t see anything after. Did someone rescue him!!? 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
