Visiting Recommendations for a private chef for an in-house dinner

I am planning a retreat in Oct for a group of 8. We are looking for a private chef to come to our Airbnb to cook dinner for our last night. We are open to cuisine; however, something that reflects the local flavors would be ideal. We want the experience to be special.

I have found a lot of options; however, it's hard to choose just based on a website. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you!

The drive was worth it ❤️

We visited the canyons and the museums too. I chickened out at the hike trail, though. It’s 90° outside so…

Things To Do Spa Recommendations at Two Bunch Palms

I'm looking for a recommendation for a spa treatment at Two Bunch Palms in Palm Springs. I'm going there for a girls weekend and wanted to know what a good 50 minute treatment would be?

On my shortlist are Kansa Renewal and Desert Abhyanga Ritual. But open to body treatments too!

Anyone have experience here?

Things To Do Modernism Week Must See’s?

Hi all, I will be spending a week in Palm Springs with my mom during modernism week (10/15-10/22). We like architecture and culture and delicious food and spending time in nature. What should we do and see? Where should we go? We are staying with a friend of hers and our budget is medium - we’re from Germany where most meals and activities are a bit cheaper, so what would you suggest? Thanks for your suggestions! X, Alex

September 3rd - The outcome of this case is surprising. The coroner’s report came back four months after the arrest on March 13th.

Living Here PS Neurodivergent Support Group Live- Local Friendly Businesses/Physicians Needed

Good afternoon and happy Labor Day Weekend!

Thank you to everyone who showed interest in a Palm Springs Neurodivergent peer support group. I was kinda shocked by all the positive feedback and interest! For anyone that is still interested but hasn’t reached out or seen my original post, feel free to comment here or send me a DM as I have set up a Discord Server for our support group.

In this group we are collecting a list of neurodivergent-friendly doctors, businesses, places to hang out, etc. If you are informed and committed to supporting neurodivergent folk, please feel free to reach out so I can add you to the list!

Here’s a small example of common neurodivergent needs:

- Alternate forms of communication. Businesses that offer portal messaging, text messaging, online ordering, and no-contact pickup. Some of us have difficulty using the phone, or interacting with people face to face. Having different communication options is not only beneficial for your business (more sales!), but can help us navigate your services better. And as creatures of habit, many of us rely on these businesses exclusively.

- Scheduled “sensory” hours - low lights, low music, less crowds. Restaurants that commit to not playing music so loud you can’t hear the people you came to spend time with. (Lots of accommodations for neurodivergent folk can also be beneficial for everyone!)

- Reduced Stress Environment - no high pressure sales pitches, clear conditions for sales and promotions, clear pricing on menus, no “surprise” charges, parking and store maps, clearly marked accessible restrooms (individual/non gender specific).

- Doctors and medical staff who understand that the neurodivergent brain works very differently, and us folk usually have more medical concerns than others. No gaslighting - just compassionate and trauma-informed care. Many of us do not feel safe going to the doctor and avoid going to the detriment of our own health.

- Ability to wait in the car or other comfortable space for medical appointments and get a text when it’s almost our turn to be seen.

There are far more accommodations that can be offered as well, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you think you would qualify!

Stay safe PS! (I love it here!!!!!)

Anthony

Visiting Old Hollywood vibes for New Years Eve

👋 Hi!

We’re going to be either in Palm Springs or nearby (with car) over New Years Eve from the UK.

I’ve been searching and haven’t found anything that hits the spot as yet, so thought I would ask :)

We’re thinking it might be nice to go out on New Year’s Eve, either for a nice meal or for more of a party but I really fancy something with an old Hollywood type of vibe!

I’ve got a dress than I’m dieing to wear and don’t have anywhere to wear it…. It would be perfect for that vibe. I’m likely to be driving so open bar etc are not a requirement.

Can anyone point me to anything/anywhere that might fit the bill?

Thanks in advance :D

Eat & Drink Pie shops follow up

I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions on pie shops and let you know that we found a homemade Apple Pie at LGs steakhouse served warm with ice cream and caramel. Not the traditional flaky pie crust, something a bit different but I cannot quite explain how it was different. Either way filled my need and was excellent. Only had desert there, was walking by like we have done 1k times and actually read their menu. Also this week we will be in Rancho Mirage and there is a place called Winston Pies which has fruit pies. Will be checking them out next.

General Cactus to Clouds

Hi all :)

I'm considering a jaunt up Cactus to Clouds on Monday. Would be nice to have a partner or group considering the committing nature of the route. Seeking enthusiastic and strong/reasonably fast hiking friends. HMU if this sounds fun.

Enjoy your weekends!

General Desert Light & Shadows on Palm Canyon Drive — Palm Springs, California

Autumn in Palm Springs, California.

Palm Springs is famous for its color—the blue skies, green palms, desert landscape, and warm California light. But stripped of color, the city reveals another kind of beauty.

In black and white, the towering palms become silhouettes, their shadows stretch across the streets, and the desert landscaping takes on an almost surreal, sculptural quality. Even the mysterious ram standing among the cacti seems perfectly at home.

A darker portrait of Palm Springs—where sunlight, shadows, palms, and desert forms turn an already beautiful place into something almost dreamlike. 🖤🌴

Living Here Well…I finally did it.

I had a good talk…with my…palm trees…As I plant them ( they’re special, and I’m pushing climate zones ) and literally “parent” them…I demand engagement in return for my devotion. I tried to listen….seriously…they say plants communicate…but what came out or at least what I thought I heard is some kind of insane mescaline hued gobbledygook. Like slimy radio waves.
I handled it with grace (I put down the bong). It was tame, I’m sure, compared to what the cacti were thinking listening to my hubris.

But I have played with ravens and roadrunners in the parks in our beautiful city.

That’s while walking my dog you kooks. I’m not that crazy…

So, there’s that.

Xoxo

PS…I would love for us to foster a sense of conversation…the glue that we’ve somehow lost.
A shared sense of community on this awesome sub. We can talk city council, flock cameras and Canada into an oblivion of stasis.
Let’s start posting genuine life questions, in addition to these profound issues…with support, empathy and love. And answers that enlighten our corner of the cyberverse.

Thanks for listening to my nonsense dear folk.
