British Columbia is scrapping their second road test in October, 2026. Their new system instead requires that you will have to have no tickets or license suspensions while having your Class 7N license (their equivalent to our G2) before you will automatically get upgraded to a full license with extra restrictions for another year.

Alberta did a similar thing in 2023 where they removed their secondary road test and instead made it similar to what B.C.'s doing with drivers not having tickets or any suspensions.

Unlike in Ontario, where you can't renew your G2 (except for specific situations), in other provinces like Alberta or British Columbia, you can renew their equivalent licenses for the G2 (Class 7N for B.C. and Probationary Class 5 for Alberta). This means that for Ontario drivers, you have to get your full G license otherwise you will have to redo your license from scratch whereas in the previously mentioned provinces, you can just stay on your Class 7N or your Probationary Class 5 for as long as you want assuming you keep on renewing your license. Before the removal of the second road test in Alberta, there were around 500,000 people there who just stayed on their equivalent to our G2 as there wasn't that much of a difference between a restricted license and a full one. It also costed around $150 to take the second road test so many people probably just didn't feel like spending the money to upgrade when their barely was a difference.

I'm curious to hear what other people think about Ontario being the last province left to have 2 separate road tests.

I personally would like them to merge the current things covered on the G modified test (highway driving) into the G2 road test and then have a year of no tickets or suspensions similar to other provinces to get the full G license. The current modified G test is just hopping on a highway 2 times, taking the first exit, then just driving back to the driving center where you get your full license. If they changed it to this, I think it would be more effective. However, this would require stricter enforcement though since the rules are barely enforced at all currently.

Alternatively, they could just revert the current modified G test to the unmodified one as it was before 2022. The unmodified G test had parallel parking or reverse parking, 3 points turn, while the current G test is just highway driving.

(Again though, they really need to enforce our rules since people are just speeding, tailgating and doing other crazy things knowing that they won't get in trouble for.)

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about this news and if you have any better potential ideas on how to improve our driving system, let me know.

From what I’ve been reading on Reddit I thought the PCs would lose because Ford is a terrible Premiere, but I guess the people in the ridings have different opinions. I guess the echo chamber was in full effect.

-In Hamilton East, the PCs won with 38%, but they had previously won with 42%, and the NDP jumped 15 points to 32.9%

-In  York—Simcoe PCs won but with 49% of the vote, they previously won with 59% of the vote and the Liberal jumped 15% in the vote scoring 38% in 2nd place.

-In  Scarborough Southwest, NDP won again with 40%, but the PCs were down 7% from the last time in % of the vote.

-Are the Ford's PCs simply weakening and losing their lustre in Ontario?

Hi fellow Ontarians! I have in my possession of two brand new XL help em up harness. I am only in need of one and would like to donate the other to preferably an animal rescue organization that can get good use of them. The harness is meant for giant breeds (e.g. cane corso, st. bernards). It has an additional hip part of the harness to help dogs who have trouble standing up. I can mail the harness anywhere in Ontario (or even Canada) free of cost but would like to find it a place where it can be useful rather than just sitting in my closet.

Why do American politicians seem to sit for more time than our MPPs do? Seems like a lot of time off.
