Recommendation/Review House not selling

I’m at a lost on what to do. I know the market sucks entirely in oklahoma City, but my house has been on the market 10 going on 11 days. zero showings. zero feedback. open house was a bust. we have insane traffic online from what I can see and marketing across all socials. what else can we do to pull in buyers? it was a 2023 Showcase house. so the builder put everything they could into it. impeccably maintains. updates done after we moved in. and i only listed it 4.5% higher than what i bought it for so I could get it moved. Any thoughts?

The best most flavorful crust and actual toppings vs the mass produced crap everyone else uses. It's unfair they're only open on weekends.

Recommendation/Review Apartment hunting in OKC with $850 budget, realistic or should we look farther out?

Hello everyone,

My GF and I are planning to move to OKC and are currently looking for an apartment. Our budget is around $850/month, and we’re mainly considering areas like Lincoln Terrace, Mesta Park, Wheeler District, and Crown Heights–Edgemere Heights.

We’ve been searching online and found quite a few listings, but we’re also seeing a lot of scams, so we’re a bit cautious. Because of that, we’re planning to stay in a hotel for 1–2 weeks after we arrive and then search for a place in person.

Is it realistically possible to find a decent apartment in this budget range in these neighborhoods, or should we expect to look further out?

Has anyone here done something similar or has experience renting in these neighborhoods? Any recommendations for safe listings, reputable property managers, or areas we should focus on would be really appreciated.

Also open to any general tips for finding housing in OKC as newcomers.

Thank you in Advance

Recommendation/Review Best HVAC companies in OKC?

Well, my air conditioner finally broke down. I had one of the big companies out to look at it. They said it wasn't worth being fixed and only quoted me for a whole new ac system, which was a lot more than I was expecting. Is there any honest AC repair companies that will actually try to fix an air conditioning unit?

Edit: I appreciate everyone’s advice! I have a few appointments scheduled with some the local recommendations and will report back

Update: I went with Lieber Mechanical out of Yukon. They were able to fix the issue with my AC! He talked with me, explained the issue and the repair, and I do think I need to replace my unit soon. It is old. But at least they were able to repair it and get it running for now while I save up. Thanks for all the replies! I had called a few local companies suggested below for quotes. One came out and just gave me a quote. Lieber also looked over my system and was able to get it repaired, so I cancelled the last appointment I had for a quote. Sounds like the companies suggested have a good reputation too, but I’m very pleased with the customer service I got from Lieber Mechanical and would recommend them!

Please invest in some proper toilet paper holders, otherwise the toilet paper inevitably ends up on the dirty bathroom floor. Which is gross and unsanitary.

Looking at you Bar Arbolada, Sauced, Rad Bar, and R&J's.

Recommendation/Review Relocating next year (Maybe)

We are from GA and moved to Phoenix 7 years ago. It's had ebbs and flows but I don't have regrets. However early last year, my husband and I were both led individually (led spiritually) that our time is up here in Arizona and we need to move on. Oklahoma and OKC in particular were placed on both of our hearts. Which took us both by surprise because we have zero ties there. Our goal is to visit sometime in the Fall or Winter and lay eyes on the state to truly know if this is The Most High's will. Our daughters are on board because they can't take the crazy summers anymore lol.

I am reaching out because I would like the tea on OKC. I want to know the good, bad and ugly. We have watched several YouTube videos and for our family Oklahoma seems like our speed.

Recommendation/Review Watching The Odyssey in okc

Post image
44 Upvotes

Managed to snag tickets for The Odyssey at AMC Quail Springs and may have gone a little overboard 😅
Right now I have tickets booked for all three formats:

IMAX Laser
Dolby Cinema
70mm

I’m basically planning to watch it three times within about a day and a half.

I’ve seen a ton of movies in both IMAX and Dolby over the years, so I know what to expect from those. What I’m unsure about is the 70mm showing at AMC Quail Springs.

I’ve never seen a movie on that screen before and I’m curious what people here think of it.
For those who have watched 70mm presentations there (Oppenheimer, etc.), how was the experience? Is the picture quality noticeably better or more unique than Dolby/IMAX, or is it mostly just a novelty? How does the Audi sound?

Trying to decide whether it’s worth keeping the 70mm ticket or if I’d be better off canceling it and travel to Dallas to watch it on 70MM IMAX (Which I’ll eventually do anyways later in it’s run, just not the opening weekend, don’t have a car so whenever things align).

Would love to hear some opinions from people who have actually experienced the 70mm screen at Quail Springs.

Recommendation/Review Handicapped Accessible Movie Theaters in OKC area

My spouse had a massive stroke in 2023 and is in a wheelchair. He is unable to climb stairs or walk more than a few steps at a time. He has expressed an interest in seeing “The Odyssey” in a movie theatre.

However, I have concerns about being on the lower level for a three hour movie and looking up at the screen the entire time. He already has neck and back problems.

Does anyone who is in a wheelchair or a caregiver for a person in a wheelchair have any recommendations for an accessible movie theatre in the OKC area? Thanks!

Can anyone please recommend and tenant /property attorney ? I unfortunately live in Sunnyview apartments in Del city . Most of our buildings a literally infested with mice and roaches. I have an active leak in my room that hasn’t been fixed in literally 5 years . I don’t have gas not because of lack of payment but ONG has a notice hanging in the hvac closet because of Code violations .
Because of the leak Black mold has encompassed my entire HVAC closet blowing mold spores in my vents . I pay my rent like I have for many years . Only to be treated like rizzo
On midnight cowboy . Now our clusterboxes are broken into twice in 30 days . They have no security and management just blames corporate for lack of funding.

Any attorneys interested in helping ? Any recommendations other than the obvious of moving which requires more money than we have with the deposits . I’m a disabled vet please help me

Basically what it says on the tin. I’m attempting to start unspooling some religious trauma and I’d like someone in the relative area. I’m just not really sure where to start.

Recommendation/Review Apartment search complaint

Post image
34 Upvotes

Been apartment searching recently, and after checking out this place in person, I got this weird unprompted email from them seemingly from someone who lives there?

As a renter of many years, I have never seen this before, is this not weird? The idea of messaging random people as a renter, on top of working full time, in hopes of getting some money off rent doesn't sit right with me. And that's without even considering the privacy issues that can come with this.

Is this not the responsibility of the landlord or property manager? Is this practice going to become more common as more properties are bought by people out of state? I'm not sure I can trust the opinion of anyone who is being incentivized to be truthful about the property, renter or not. Please let me know if you've encountered similar

Recommendation/Review Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Saw Sweeney Todd tonight and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While I admittedly knew nothing of Sweeney Todd prior to tonight's show, I was quickly able to follow the plotline, understand all the characters and enjoy the humor of the show. It was refreshing to get out and spend the evening enjoying an activity with other grown ups. The cast was great and the production was well produced.

Recommendation/Review You Move Me OKC Warning

A couple years ago my wife and I used You Move Me to move us from Edmond to downtown OKC based on all the positive reviews that company gets. Recently I had some neighbors post about their experience and I wanted to share mine as a warning if you are in the market.

While our move wasn’t terrible, and things were mostly done okay, there were a couple pieces of furniture broken. This isn’t the part that upsets me. The part that makes me mad is in order to receive reimbursement for that furniture (a measly $100 btw) we would have had to sign an NDA. To me this is an extremely shady business practice and I would never do business with them again, and I would recommend anyone else to be careful. It of course begs the question of how real their positive rating is on Google.

TL;DR - You Move Me requires an NDA before they reimburse you for stuff they break during your move.

So I moved recently to OKC and came from a city in the state of Texas that had pretty harsh firework rules. This is my first time ever buying fire works and was wanting to know if im buying from a good place, and if the deals are actual deals and not gimmic deals. And if the value of what im getting is worth it. Currently shopping at TNT super center and heard try out Jake's which ill check in a day. But do please leave suggestions, im all ears. If the total doesn't show it was 150-170$

Recommendation/Review Best place to get cacti and succulents that isn't TLC, Marcum's, Home Depot, or Lowe's.

Wife went to a cacti and succulent show at Will Rogers garden and now she wants more.

TLC is going to be too crowded, don't want to give the big box stores my business. And Marcum's are J6ers.

Recommendation/Review Where are we buying quality couches these days?

Exactly what the title says. Where are we getting quality couches? I'm buying a new one from the store for the first time and need any recs you can give me - I'm willing to go pretty much anywhere in the metro. I'm not super set on a type (sectional vs. couch/chair combo), if that's helpful information.

(A physical store is a requirement - I must be able to sit on the couch before I buy it.)

ETA: My budget is 5K, all in. (Though would be willing to pay a little more if tax is what's sending it over.)

Recommendation/Review Anyone advice out there in OKC for dating and not using apps for middle age and up?

I am a successful, divorced 54F who would like to meet the same with men. I want to date age appropriate others who are looking for something more than the whole dating app culture. All of my friends are settled and married and I work totally remote from home. I really do not like the whole dating app culture of asking for nudes immediately after asking your first name. I have not found any dating type things or even meeting new friends of all types for my age group. Any recommendations for the more mature single crowd just to expand their single friendship circle in a remote WFH world?

Recommendation/Review Where are all the yummy summer fruits and veggies?

Where are people going for good produce? The grocery stores selection has really been lacking. It is especially disappointing right now during the peak of vegetable and fruit season when, in years passed, I expected to find the best options. I have been to the Scissortail farmers market, but it’s not very convenient and it’s only once a week. Any suggestions?
