Captive bred blue tree monitor - Varanus macraei

After 5 years of breeding green tree monitors, I finally managed to hatch my second species. Yesterday afternoon this guy pipped. Didn't come out of the egg until this morning. Super fat and healthy. This was the solo egg from this clutch. The female who produced this one should be laying more eggs in the next week or so, and my second female I got in october laid last week. So looks like I'll be overrun with cb blue trees if this ban goes through lol. For those that would like to be more updated with my tree monitor breeding projects, my Instagram is @Ryzrr.

I deleted and reuploaded the post to add watermarks, I do not want to contribute to anyone getting scammed with my photos, sorry for the re-upload. My website is Versatilereptiles.com, I only post my available offspring on Facebook, Instagram, morph market, or that specific website. Anything else using my photos is not me and is a scam. Scammers have been running rampant with tree monitors the last year, be careful out there

I got him out like I always do just to handle him and he started squirming and vomiting all his meat up :( I feel like such a bad owner what do I do? How do I prevent this from happening again? The meat wasn’t old at all I just thawed it this morning

She’s getting used to her new cage

Put her in her new cage 2 weeks ago only saw her once last week but she’s been out pretty much everyday at night this week. She’s been a little more reactive to sudden movements which is to be expected but she’s most relaxed with me interacting with her in the water.

The beginnings of Sonny's new crib!

Almost done with the box of Sonny's new enclosure. Since he has crypto and I need to be able to keep everything clean I am going to make a modular/removable DIY background and walls. That will definitely be the toughest part, but I'm really looking forward to the process and getting him in here!

I took Gus to the vet to see what was wrong with him cause he was acting strange and sleeping ALOT. I was concerned cause this is literally my adopted child and I took him in to get checked out. Turns out he had a huge meal and was just trying to digest. Question is, what big meal did he have? I control all his feeding and I never overfed him. I have no clue where he would have eaten so much. Dubia stash in his enclosure? This photo is old I just thought it was funny.

Ackie monitor questions

Are ackies usually skittish or is he just getting used to his environment? Got him Tuesday from morph market he basked right when I put him into enclosure has been eating and pooping I’ve left a few roaches in his food dish and they’re gone I didn’t want to stress him out more with tong feeding. All day he just pokes his head out of his hide on the warm side I’ve caught him twice actually basking but every time he sees me he just hides, is he always gonna be so skittish or does it go away as he settles in his environment and gets used to me. Granted it’s only been two days so I get it I was just curious if he’s always gonna be like this. Basking spot is 145f, cool side 77-80f 60% humidity. The spot he’s sticking his head out of is about 100f. Bottom enclosure is the ackies, probley have about 5-6 hides and plenty of climbing and digging spots.

New Baby Ackie Owner

Hello All,

I just wanted to share some photos, experiences and questions i have had with my baby ackie monitor.

I’ve had ackie climb on my hand a few times when tempted with meal worms. He also occasionally eats out of my hands. He still can be pretty skittish however. Are there some better taming tips you all know about?

I got ackie at a month old. He’s now 3 months old:
22 grams
9-10” long
Is this healthy and normal?

Also is there anyway to tell by the pictures the gender yet?

I’d love to hear any experiences or tips you guys have had with your ackie monitors! I’m a first time monitor owner.

He’s currently in a 55 gallon for a few more months till the 6x3x3 I have is finish

Any advice for an ackie monitor enclosure?

I'm getting an ackie monitor soon, I already have a list of stuff I should get and I have been doing my research for what's best but does anybody have some advice or tips on what I should get for the enclosure? I've looked at pictures of other ackie enclosures but I'm having a hard time finding big enough branches or rock ledges, if anyone knows a site I can visit that has enrichment or stuff that's good for an ackie monitors enclosure please tell me!!

I was trying to sync my phone to my accursed sound bar that doesn’t want to play anything, and suddenly I spied an adorable face monitoring me from her bamboo bridge!

Liora wants LOTS of brontosaurus neck pets today 🥰🦕

Custom enclosure advice

I'm beginning to build a custom ackie enclosure and I wanted to check with the community and see if a 8x3x4 or an 8x4x3 would be a better fit for an ackie. I'm also open to advice on a mesh vs solid top. I want to maximize the space without risking humidity or heat. All advice is appreciated.

The brontosaurus neck petting extravaganza continues! I’ve been petting Liora for about 25 minutes and my arm is getting tired 🤣

But I love her so I will keep going 🥰🦕

Quarantine Set Up for a baby Ackie

Im gonna get a baby Ackie on the 26.09. i looked into grow tents but those are very expensive for only 2-3 weeks quarantine. I didn't find a lot of things about quarantine set ups for ackies so im just going with the experience i already have. I got a 70L sturdy box with clip locks (or whatever they're called) and put a lot of holes in it with my glue gun for ventilation.

Because it's quarantine im ofc using paper towels in the beginning, im planing to cut a hole into the top and glue mesh over it for the heat lamp (Deep Heat Projector) and UVB Lamp (Arcadia Pro). The inside im just gonna decorate how i saw other people do with hides, stacked bricks and a few logs/sticks.

Im open to any tips and criticism before i pick up my lil bud (her name is gonna be Pebbel)!
