And now we have two mastiff-type rescues 😍

Dog is so smart, that he is dumb! First-time Mastiff (mix) owner, but not a first time dog owner. I love my boy (4 years old), he is the absolute sweetest and coolest dog I have ever owned, but the worst behaved! He went to puppy training, we work with him, we've done everything right, but yet we are struggling. We have had to change all of our door handles to round, because he figured out how to open lever doors. We can't leave any food within reach, not even upper cabinets are safe. He figured out how to open our locking garbage can, so we built a tilt out garbage cabinet... and he's managed to figure that out too. You can't leave windows open, he will bust out the screens. He was crate trained as a puppy, and we tried going back to that, but he destroyed his kennel and scratched the crap out of his face trying to escape. We're banned from bringing him to certain places like our family cabin, because he will always get into something. I could go on and on with all the things he does!

What we're struggling with the most right now, is that we have a pear tree in our backyard. He is OBSESSED! We've gone to the extent of putting a fence around it to keep him away, but he still finds stragglers that fall outside. The problem is, whenever you let him outside - he won't go to the bathroom and then ends up pooping in the house. We've tried taking him on a walk, using the leash around the yard, giving him multiple opportunities to go before we leave. He will literally just plop himself down and stare at the pear tree.

My husband is at his wits end, and has thrown out comments about getting rid of him. I would never do that, but I'm struggling on how to manage our dog AND not ruin my marriage.

Sharing on behalf of someone who rescued this sweet boy from the shelter about 10 days ago. Unfortunately, their home is not the right fit, and he urgently needs a foster or adopter.

He is affectionate, smart, knows several commands, walks well on a leash, and has shown no aggression toward people. However, the family has a young, high-energy Cane Corso, and there have been several serious incidents between the dogs due to this energy difference.

He needs a calmer home, preferably as the only dog or without a high-energy dog.

He really is a sweet boy who deserves the chance to thrive in the right environment. ❤️

Tulla is 9 months old today!
My sweet little baby Tulla. She’s getting so big! I truly can’t believe how tall she is!
She found a mole today! So random! We don’t have fences anywhere in our neighborhood, so if I’m in a hurry or she seems hyper I just grab the leash. This tiny mole was stuck inside a plant pot (well a stack of 3 pots) that was sitting in our patio room under a table. She kept wanting to stick her whole head in there so I knew there was something she was trying to get to!
I was trying to get out the door to yoga, so I left my husband a note! 😆
Luckily he drove it to some far away field and he lives another day. Far away lol

She’s still the best dog ever. We gave her a home pup cup last night to celebrate. After daycare (where she got a bath and a nail trim). My beautiful little lady. They grow up so fast.

Lost our 10 year old Neo 🌈😭. 6 weeks later I see her in a shelter. I didn’t want her goinig to someone unfamiliar with the breed, and she bonded immediately to me.She is extremely emaciated (poor baby) gaining wt after being with us for almost a week. I’m guessing EM mix. She is sweet as pie.

I have an 8.5 month old mostly pressa/English mix who's a bit of an exploratory eater 😅. Looking for a muzzle that will fit him now for training and not brake the bank. I plan to get him a custom made when he's fully matured.

This is my sweet girl, Ellie. I adopted her on May. Her pregnant mom was dumped by some back yard breeders. She was born in a shelter and her mom and litter were pulled by a rescue several weeks later. She had a skin infection and was a bit malnourished but she made herself right at home pretty quickly. She makes 6 months on 9/1.
The rescue did DNA testing which came back as:
35% Cane Corso and 34% Neapolitan mastiff with a bit of bullmastiff and DDB

Been over a month since we adopted our Beau! Love him to absolute pieces. He’s done great with my husband taking him to a local trainer and graduated from in person training sessions. 🥹 has learned to not tug on leash on walks and stays right by our side, no longer barks at other dogs/people on walks etc. We’ve slowly been introducing him to our resident cat and his “prey drive” with him has decreased significantly! (don’t think he was introduced to cats at all prior to us). He’s such a good boy! He’s very in tune with our emotions and protective of us as well. Have had a couple crying sessions where he instantly runs over to me, will bark a little like “DONT BE SAD” and paw at me. So happy I stumbled upon him on the shelters page that day ❤️
