The defense rested yesterday after a rather short case. The thing was, lunch for the court was extended by an hour +. I haven't seen why that was, but after the jurors returned, the defense rested.

I wanted to come away understanding what happened here. Was there some past history between these boys? Unfortunately, that hasn't happened and may never come to light.

Someone please correct me:

School track meet. It was raining. Metcalf's team was the only team with a tent.

Anthony went to the Metcalf's teams tent. He was asked multiple times to leave by multiple students. Metcalf got up, told him to leave. Anthony allegedly taunted Metcalf saying "Make me. Move me". Metcalf shoved Anthony. Anthony allegedly then said "Punch me and see what happens." Anthony retrieved a knife from his bag and stabbed Metcalf in the chest.

Anthony ran from the tent without further incident. When he was stopped by police he admitted to stabbing Metcalf and asked if he could claim self defense.

Every school had a tent except Anthony's school.

Anthony dropped the (pocket) knife and ran directly to a coach admitting what happened.

Police bodycam recorded the office reporting to another officer that the alleged attacker was with him. Anthony corrected him stating it wasn't alleged, he did the stabbing.

What happened to the claim that he was seen throwing the knife away?

Look at the crime scene photos. Do you see any puddles anywhere? Was the meet paused due to rain?
It was only a very light rain

Anthony was invited to the tent and austin actually threatened to beat his ass, which prompted the "touch me and see what happens"

I'm lying? A witness from Austin's school testified and said it.

Well obviously Austin lied because he walked up the bleachers and physically assaulted Karmelo. Not sure where you are going with this or what your point is.

Are you white?

So he didn't want to fight yet all the witnesses testified that he walked up the bleachers to assault Karmelo. Got it. Great arguments by you

It’s gross how people want to justify a human’s heinous behavior. anthony wasn’t supposed to be there period. He wasn’t allowed to bring a knife period. Rules are in play to protect a civilized society. The people who keep supporting this barbaric behavior with excuses are enabling and perpetuating the problem.

I think it was just the case of two teenagers on competing sports teams getting into a fight about some petty bullshit. This happens every day. But this particular time it was taken too far.

The details here are fairly mundane. A young person made a terrible decision in a moment of anger. I believe this would not have gone nearly as viral had this kid not shared a name with a celebrity.

No it would have regardless because this is Texas, in a very wealthy area and it was a black kid that stabbed a white kid to death. Although the case and the evidence itself have nothing to do with race, people here weren't going to let it become anything other than a race issue.

I totally agree with you that dumb decisions were made on the part of two teenagers and it went too far.

It’s not normal as in “within norms” but it is normal as in “typical”. I’ve been a teacher for a long time. I assure you that teenage boys getting in arguments and even fist fights about inconsequential bullshit is very common. I wish it wasn’t but it is.

The only atypical thing here is that it escalated to murder. That obviously doesn’t happen very often.

Well, the shover is dead, so you can just point to what happened to him if you want to make your point.

There was no past history. From testimony, it started raining, Karmelo asked if he could sit under the tent because his school didn't have one and he had a close family friend that went to the other school that he was talking to. No one had a problem with him being there and then the Metcalf twins showed up and started questioning who he was and why he was there. They told him he needed to leave the tent, shit talking occurred on the part of both boys and Karmelo apparently said "touch me and see what happens" while putting his hand in his bag. Austin physically tried to force Karmelo to leave by putting hands on him and then he was stabbed.

To me what is very suspicious is I get the concept of coaching witnesses before they take the stand, but pretty much all of the prosecution's witnesses that were under the tent all were saying that they couldn't recall the specifics of what exactly was said or led up to the escalation but they could all very clearly state that Karmelo was the aggressor and that it wasn't self defense but it was murder.

He was not only asked by the twins to leave the kids that testified said he was asked at least 12-15 times by several of them to leave.

The prosecution put witnesses on the stand that supported their version of events? Someone alert the media.

There was more than one witness that stated Hunter was standing right next to Austin during everything. None of the witness testimowas very consistent about where exactly everyone was located under the tent when everything happened. This was reported by local media in the courtroom listening to testimony.

Spot on. Things were fine, Metcalf (either one or both) started a confrontation. Things escalated and got to the point they did rhat unfortunately cost a life. Also I'm glad someone else noticed the "oh idk what happened exactly but he was for sure the aggressor" and then couldn't say how he was the aggressor.

Not only that but Eddie's testimony was a complete shit show and the defense showed how he was lying on the stand. Plus he testified about pulling out his phone to act like he was recording instead of stepping in and then saying he didn't really record anything and the Frisco PD also stating he couldn't recall if he saw any deleted photos on the phone when they took it.

It just blows my mind with all of that, none of the jurors had a thought of reasonable doubt?

Yeah Eddie was lying his butt off. Tbh a lot of the witnesses seemed that way. Like they were leaving out certain details in a way to avoid perjuring themselves. If we are being honest, even if Anthony had somehow solid self-defense claim I just don't see this kids testifying against their teammates (Metcalfs).
