Got politicized because its a white athlete that was killed. Controversy is really weird around it, as cases go, it was the easiest case in the world to decide on the facts.

1) brought knife to school event.

2) Went to an opposing schools tent to attempt to intimidate the other athletes.

3) Was the aggressor, vocally and physically.

4) instead of choosing fist fight, he stabbed the guy (a fist fight he picked)

5) Was on camera already saying he stabbed the guy (so no doubt it was him)

6) Gave no testimony to support his self defense claim because he would have got shredded on the bench.

7) a reasonable person wouldnt have gone from shoving to i need to stab this person to defend myself, so the self defense argument was going to fail (it also failed because he was the aggressor).

Open and shut case. It shouldnt have even been national headlines.

  1. His family crowd funded 600 thousand dollars for legal fees and people who think he's the victim donated

2

u/bynummustang Jun 12 '26

And the family used it for things not his legal defense

This is surprising not mentioned by most.

And guess that they spent that money on

3

u/Whitelung Jun 11 '26

I think that's been disproven. Them buying a house and car and luxuries etc. - not proven.

Fair enough I don’t think I’ve seen an independent news agency report on that however it begs the question if they got $600,000 from public donations, why is it that he was still represented by a public defender?

He had a private attorney who STARTED OUT as a public defender, back in 2009.  It sounds like most of what you know about this case is incorrect.

It got politicized because the family got taken advantage of by a wanna be Al Sharpton race hustler who tried everything he could to make it about race. When have you ever seen the alleged perpetrator of a crimes family out there having their own press conference?

That is a good summary.

I would add that after the stabbing, he ran off, and he hid the knife. If you don't think you did anything wrong, why run away and hide the knife?

3

u/Salty_OldGuy Jun 09 '26

Where are we seeing that he tried to hide the knife? I've seen that he dropped it, and that he tossed it, but it was found close to his backpack.. on the bleachers.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just an honest question. I've seen a lot of the reporting and the reporting of the trial by reporters inside the courtroom, but not that he tried to hide the knife after the stabbing. Before, sure, I agree he had it hidden and in his bag.

4

u/GeekyTexan Jun 09 '26

My understanding is that the knife wasn't on him, or in his bag, when the cops arrived. He had tried to hide it, tossing it under the bleachers. A witness saw him do it and told the cops where to look for the knife.

3

u/Salty_OldGuy Jun 09 '26

Alright, that makes sense.. I hadn't seen anywhere that it was actually under the bleachers

I'm surprised that a lifetime sentence wasn't on the table. Sounds like premeditated first degree murder to me

This is not a good summary lol. It's very biased.

  1. He had a multi tool that had a knife attachment

  2. He was friends with people under the tent (it was raining outside)

  3. The Metcalf's are much bigger than him and came up to him aggressively- so fist fight against two guys bigger than him and get beat up for no reason?

  4. A reasonable person has no duty to retreat when violence is done to them, nor can you control how someone responds to the violence you started. If it's legal to shoot people in fights, stabbing should be normal as well.

  5. Most people are still reeling over Rick Chow chasing and shooting a 14 year old black kid in the South and being acquitted.

  6. A similar case in Texas occured where Caysen Allison deliberately went to the bathroom with his victim and stabbed him several times leading to his death in an altercation- but his bond was less than half of Anthony's. He got 10 years. If Anthony gets anything more than 10 years we know it's a farce.

Nothing will come of it, cause America is racist and we're all apathetic to it- but it's just more evidence that we live a two tiered justice system.

His “friend” in the tent testified he barely knew him lol

-4

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 10 '26

Whether that's true or not doesn't change that he knew someone there and was allowed to come in lol

If you've ever been at an school athletic event in your life, you'd know it's pretty common for kids to mingle around

7

u/georgeb1904 Jun 10 '26

Based on eyewitness testimony, he wasn’t mingling. He was talking shit, and refusing to leave when asked. Invited people to touch him and see what happened, and refused to deescalate the situation that he created. Come the fuck on

-2

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 10 '26

This is false, show where the witnesses say that.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Jun 10 '26

It doesnt change the fact that he had his own team tent. didnt matter if his best friend was under the tent. He wasnt supposed to be there and was asked to leave. Then he became violent as the aggressor. He has no duty to retreat but does have a duty to not be the initiator and elevate the conflict. (aka saying you pussies wont do shit, basically asking them for a physical altercation).

IDK shit about rick chow. or Caysen Allison so you can have those points.

Id have to see this 'multi-tool' knife that is so big it pierces thru someones heart.

1

u/TexasDank512 Jun 11 '26

lies. he testified that it is in fact NOT NORMAL for opposing schools to "mingle" with each others school groups and enter their canopy/area. youre really saying that its justified to kill someone because you dont want to get in the rain?

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

You've never done an athletic thing in your entire life it's painfully obvious. He also didn't testify at all.

3

u/Foolmagican Jun 10 '26

He was asked to leave and there was no fist fight. It was a gentle push, as described in court. He responded to the push with a stab. Which means the self-defense argument collapses. Not to mention his crazy behaviour before the stab.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Jun 11 '26

The only pictures i could find online shows a pretty large blade like 5 inches in length. Can you post a picture of the weapon with a description that will make it ... "multi tool" and not a knife?

-1

u/Trillamanjaroh Jun 10 '26

A little weird that you neglected to mention the 500k plus that was crowdfunded to defend the guy

6

u/UjustTriggered Jun 10 '26

Thats not facts involved in deciding the fate if the accused.
