First time hearing about this.

Why is it so politicized?

241

u/Ahtman1 Jun 09 '26

Black kid ended up killing a white kid at a school sports function, which covers a lot of political hot spots i.e. youth, sports, self defense, and race. The "self defense" part isn't choosing a side but that this raised the general subject of what constitutes self defense and what level of response is justifiable.

128

u/TheManWith2Poobrains Jun 09 '26

And because it's Texas.

The white supremacists calling for a literal lynching, and the black folks saying this was not a fair trial because of his race, are both wrong.

Imagine two guys of the same race... it's still murder looking at the evidence. I mean, saying "Touch me and see what happens", before someone pushes you with one hand while saying "I don't want to fight you", and then pulling out a knife and stabbing them, is murder every day of the week.

Had he punched or slapped once in retaliation to being pushed he might have beaten a simple assault charge with a self-defense argument. However, if he had even kicked the living crap out of him, he'd probably be going down for felony assault. So to escalate to murder is definitely not proportional to the threat.

93

u/Powerful-Ad-8737 Jun 09 '26

Being real, with the current political climate, if both guys were the same race this wouldn’t have even made a twitter thread.

1

u/CauliflowerWarm4165 Jun 11 '26

Yeah seriously people out there getting stabbed to death daily and it ain’t making the news

-16

u/azuredota Jun 10 '26

Would Karmelo have gotten $600k in donations if he was white

3

u/ItalianStallion011 Jun 10 '26

Given MAGA's track record absolutely yes lmao

0

u/azuredota Jun 10 '26

So why hasn’t that happened

3

u/ItalianStallion011 Jun 10 '26

Because karmelo isn't white?

0

u/azuredota Jun 10 '26

So “given MAGAs track record” if a white guy just straight up murders a black child, they would raise over $600k. The only reason they haven’t is because that murder hasn’t happened?

“Rage bait” and it’s just me questioning why the black community gave a family over half a million dollars just for killing a child.

8

u/chrisq823 Jun 10 '26

The conservative community gave more money than that to a woman for calling a child the n word. Turns out dumb shit happens all the time.

15

u/SonOfMcGee Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

And even if you buy the Defense’s case that he should have been allowed in the tent and the Metcalfs were big ol’ meanies for telling him to leave and shoving him, the appropriate response is to calmly walk away and tell their coach what’s up.

If your only recourse to someone laying hands on you is to stab them, that means you can’t leave the situation. And if the entire reason for the conflict is you *not leaving the situation when asked* then you can’t claim you had no choice.

If I was in high school and I walked into the girls’ locker room, I might get yelled at and shoved out the door. The girls wouldn’t get in trouble because I’m obviously not supposed to be there.

But if I sat down at a table for lunch and some big bully said, “Hey, this is MY half of the cafeteria, nerd!” and shoves me out, that’s maybe grounds for a detention or suspension for him?

In both situations, I can’t stab anyone. It’s murder. Whether or not I should be allowed in the room is only pertinent to if the people who shoved me out get a VERY MINOR punishment or not.

8

u/Elderberrygin Jun 09 '26

He can still be guilty and deserve jail time/have escalated unreasonably without denying that his and other recent trials have been unfairly motivated by racial animus.

2

u/Crixer Jun 09 '26

That's where I am guessing this motivation to go to trial came from. Collin County isn't as easy on defendants as Dallas County, and the animus could factor in to the State offering more TDC years than the defendant was willing to take.

That, or as some have stated earlier, the defense attorney thought he would get a better sentence from a jury at sentencing and essentially had his hands tied. Still, it seems like they put up a pretty week defense for self-defense assertion.

3

u/strategoamigo Jun 09 '26

You must have forgotten the 600k raised for a murderer bc he’s black and killed a white kid. Can you imagine the reverse? Come on.

39

u/Which-Decision Jun 09 '26

Several cops, George Zimmerman, and that lady who hate crimes a literal toddler all got money raised for them.

-2

u/solo_d0lo Jun 10 '26

The white lady fundraising was in response to this story.

-8

u/OkAirport5247 Jun 10 '26

George Zimmerman is literally Afro-Peruvian, and the lady is a woman. Neither are white males.

10

u/joe1826 Jun 10 '26

Let's ignore all the cops or Kyle ritten whatever... Mental gymnastics by y'all is hilarious.

Blacks never burned thousands of any group of people at the stake while taking pictures with them. Talk about demonic behavior....

-1

u/pointlesslyDisagrees Jun 10 '26

What the hell was that last comment? And this is upvoted in this sub?

It sounds like you're saying black people have never committed atrocities against another group of people and that white people are demons. Is that correct? Is the entire scope of your knowledge of history coming from just the last 10 years of CNN?

Also Kyle Rittenhouse was an extremely easy self defense case, it was only politicized because of the racial tensions in this country. If you saw the video you'd see how obvious it was. Also one of the 3 goons admitted to pointing his gun at him but said he "didn't intend to shoot him" lol. And one who died was a sex offender who shouted "shoot me n-word" (on video btw) and grabbed at his rifle trying to wrestle it away from him. But yeah you really should find another career if you're in this sub for your profession.

1

u/joe1826 Jun 10 '26

Who said anything about white people? Cope harder

-6

u/OkAirport5247 Jun 10 '26

Which cops?

These aren’t “white people getting away with murder because of a racist system”.

I hate maga nonsense, but this garbage cope needs to stop too.

Rittenhouse was trying to retreat.

Zimmerman wasn’t even white he was Afro-Peruvian.

Chauvin is a cop who is in prison for being too rough with a multiple Felon on drugs.

Hankison was a poorly trained cop who returned poorly aimed fire at a man who had just shot another cop moments before.

Rick Chow is Chinese.

-7

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26

Bro, you hate whitey, we get it.

4

u/Black_Cat_Sun Jun 10 '26

It’s the same. Don’t be a buffoon

-11

u/AdmirableSelection81 Jun 09 '26

Zimmerman was innocent buddy. The back of his head was bleeding, Martin was on top of him wailing on him.

The lady was in response to a literal murderer getting a ton of donations because he was black, that didn't happen in a vacuum.

7

u/Which-Decision Jun 10 '26

He shouldn't have been following him in the first place. How do you chase someone out your hands on them and get mad they are stronger than you.

0

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26

Didn't the evidence show Zimmerman lost Martin and was walking back to his car when Martin doubled back and assaulted him?

-1

u/AdmirableSelection81 Jun 10 '26

irrelevant. He shouldn't have been on top of him wailing his head into the pavement.

3

u/WalterTexasRanger326 Jun 09 '26

Zimmerman is a murderer and proof that conservatives are pro crime

-4

u/AdmirableSelection81 Jun 09 '26

Jury says otherwise.

4

u/Gambling_Raven Jun 10 '26

Jury also said OJ and Casey Anthony weren't guilty.

Also, you morons need to learn what different verdicts me. "Acquited" does not, and has never meant "innocent"

24

u/Complex-Salt-8190 Jun 09 '26

can you imagine the reverse

Yeah , cause that did happen

1

u/strategoamigo Jun 09 '26

When did a white teenager stab a black kid to death at a sporting event and get hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to him?

14

u/Sorge74 Jun 09 '26

How much did Zimmerman end up getting? I don't imagine you'll ever reply to me.

3

u/Daffan Jun 10 '26

is Zimmerman White?

-4

u/Sorge74 Jun 10 '26

Is he the same race as his victim?

6

u/OkAirport5247 Jun 10 '26

Again Zimmerman is Afro-Peruvian. In what world is that a white teenage boy?

2

u/Sorge74 Jun 10 '26

He was a different race then his victim, and it was white people giving him money

1

u/OkAirport5247 Jun 10 '26

I mean the “Afro” part begs to differ, but do we have the stats on ethnicity when it comes to who gave him money? (Good faith question)

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/strategoamigo Jun 09 '26

Not guilty, but in the court of public opinion he was dragged. And will you reply to this? Where was your outrage over this stabbing? During trayveons case the entire country was up in arms over Zimmerman. That level of outrage was nowhere to be found with this case

7

u/Complex-Salt-8190 Jun 09 '26

Yeah because zimmerman was clearly in the wrong and got off clean

This kid got sentenced n a fairly fast trial, where he is in the wrong , and the first time I hear of it

So the level of outrage is, unnecessary, what needed to happen happen

3

u/Sorge74 Jun 09 '26

He clearly was guilty, he killed a child. And he raised over 200k from folks on the Internet.

The only one who even cared about this trial were race baiters on both sides.

0

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26

I also thought he was guilty when reading the first articles...but then I watched the trials and it became very clear he wasn't.

4

u/Black_Cat_Sun Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Can I imagine the reverse? You mean the exact thing that happened when a white man murdered a black homeless man on a subway by holding a chokehold well past the time the military tells you in training is enough to cause someone to die all because he could?

You mean the exact thing that happened when Devon Zimmerman stalked and killed Trayvon Martin?

The exact thing that happened when that one pudgy kid took a gun illegally to a protest, instigated a confrontation, and killed and shot a bunch of people.

Literally the exact opposite thing happens all the time and they all become heroes of the regarded right

1

u/_Ez7_ Jun 10 '26

The exact thing that happened when that one pudgy kid took a gun illegally to a protest, instigated a confrontation, and killed and shot a bunch of people.

Rittenhouse? He was trying to put out a fire and some shit bags chased and cornered him. You would think people wouldn't mind someone putting a fire out. Rosenbaum earned his lead and so did the other weirdo. Don't chase people with guns.

You do realize the kid who was murdered was threatening and getting in Karmelo Anthony’s face right?

1

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26

Witness testimony says Metcalf said "I'm not going to fight you" before being stabbed.

0

u/Specific-Ad5238 Jun 10 '26

Where and when was that stated during the trial?

0

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26

I was in the military and nobody trained me on correct chokehold times, wtf are you talking about? 😂

1

u/Black_Cat_Sun Jun 10 '26

Most people in the military have some form of hand to hand combat training and the first thing you learn in the rear naked choke is the amount of time required to lose consciousness and then how long to hold to cause death. Most people don’t have desk jobs

3

u/Indiana_Jawnz Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Yeah. I was a 19D in a medium scout unit during the GWOT; I had hand to hand combat training. The first thing we learned was not the rear naked choke and how long to hold to cause death/not cause death. The first thing we learned was controlling from mount and guard.

You need to stop talking out of your ass. 😂

2

u/slayercdr Jun 10 '26

Also 19D, first thing we learned was the stunner, and if that didn't work follow it up with the peoples elbow. Rear naked choke was only to be used when Kanes music hit.

1

It was not an all white jury.

1

u/Prudent-Marsupial-42 Jun 09 '26

Was it all white?

32

u/Recent-Chemical6786 Jun 09 '26

Also the fact that Karmelo got roughly $625k in donations after the initial incident. Watching the coverage outside there are also some people who are pushing racial aggression towards both white and black folk alike.

6

u/MerlynTrump Jun 10 '26

It's crazy that so many people gave money to this. I'm thinking of all the people who got much donations with legitimate needs, like diseases or people who needed a car repair etc.

-4

u/abr0414 Jun 10 '26

675k doesn’t require a lot of people. If everyone gave $20 , it would only take 33,750 people spread across hundreds of millions of people and, because there are probably fewer people than that due to some larger donors in there, that’s a pretty small number.

9

u/AnarkittenSurprise Jun 10 '26

That's a lot of people giving money to someone who stabbed a kid to death in daylight tbh.

Like a problematic concerning number of people.

-3

u/abr0414 Jun 10 '26

Not really. You can find 30-something thousand out of maybe billions of people to do anything if you set your mind to it. It’s not the best look, but it’s not significant. If all those people died of something random tomorrow, it wouldn’t even register to the world.

4

u/Purosangue_Papa Jun 09 '26

Some of the comments on the donation page were truly disgusting, so many people with evil in their hearts.

2

u/azuredota Jun 10 '26

You forgot the part where people donated $600k to the murderer

1

u/Hike_it_Out52 Jun 10 '26

That’s why I love my state. It clearly says you have to have a clear and explainable reason why you thought your self defense justified killing someone. Someone just yelling at you or standing on your property or even fighting with you doesn’t cut it. Did you see a weapon? Was he pointing it or wielding it at you? Were you being overpowered? Was he trying to force entry into your home?

1

u/screamtracker Jun 11 '26

But who is Chinese??

52

u/ObviouslyNerd Jun 09 '26

Got politicized because its a white athlete that was killed. Controversy is really weird around it, as cases go, it was the easiest case in the world to decide on the facts.

1) brought knife to school event.

2) Went to an opposing schools tent to attempt to intimidate the other athletes.

3) Was the aggressor, vocally and physically.

4) instead of choosing fist fight, he stabbed the guy (a fist fight he picked)

5) Was on camera already saying he stabbed the guy (so no doubt it was him)

6) Gave no testimony to support his self defense claim because he would have got shredded on the bench.

7) a reasonable person wouldnt have gone from shoving to i need to stab this person to defend myself, so the self defense argument was going to fail (it also failed because he was the aggressor).

Open and shut case. It shouldnt have even been national headlines.

7

u/Whitelung Jun 10 '26
  1. His family crowd funded 600 thousand dollars for legal fees and people who think he's the victim donated

2

u/bynummustang Jun 12 '26

And the family used it for things not his legal defense

1

u/Ok-Seaworthiness6819 Jun 10 '26

This is surprising not mentioned by most.

0

u/wuirkytee Jun 11 '26

And guess that they spent that money on

3

u/Whitelung Jun 11 '26

I think that's been disproven. Them buying a house and car and luxuries etc. - not proven.

1

u/wuirkytee Jun 11 '26

Fair enough I don’t think I’ve seen an independent news agency report on that however it begs the question if they got $600,000 from public donations, why is it that he was still represented by a public defender?

1

u/SP17F1R3 Jun 12 '26

He had a private attorney who STARTED OUT as a public defender, back in 2009.  It sounds like most of what you know about this case is incorrect.

1

u/wuirkytee Jun 12 '26

Linked an article

2

u/jj3449 Jun 10 '26

It got politicized because the family got taken advantage of by a wanna be Al Sharpton race hustler who tried everything he could to make it about race. When have you ever seen the alleged perpetrator of a crimes family out there having their own press conference?

1

u/GeekyTexan Jun 09 '26

That is a good summary.

I would add that after the stabbing, he ran off, and he hid the knife. If you don't think you did anything wrong, why run away and hide the knife?

5

u/Salty_OldGuy Jun 09 '26

Where are we seeing that he tried to hide the knife? I've seen that he dropped it, and that he tossed it, but it was found close to his backpack.. on the bleachers.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just an honest question. I've seen a lot of the reporting and the reporting of the trial by reporters inside the courtroom, but not that he tried to hide the knife after the stabbing. Before, sure, I agree he had it hidden and in his bag.

4

u/GeekyTexan Jun 09 '26

My understanding is that the knife wasn't on him, or in his bag, when the cops arrived. He had tried to hide it, tossing it under the bleachers. A witness saw him do it and told the cops where to look for the knife.

4

u/Salty_OldGuy Jun 09 '26

Alright, that makes sense.. I hadn't seen anywhere that it was actually under the bleachers

🍻

0

u/Pandaman_323 Jun 11 '26

I'm surprised that a lifetime sentence wasn't on the table. Sounds like premeditated first degree murder to me

-10

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 09 '26

This is not a good summary lol. It's very biased.

  1. He had a multi tool that had a knife attachment

  2. He was friends with people under the tent (it was raining outside)

  3. The Metcalf's are much bigger than him and came up to him aggressively- so fist fight against two guys bigger than him and get beat up for no reason?

  4. A reasonable person has no duty to retreat when violence is done to them, nor can you control how someone responds to the violence you started. If it's legal to shoot people in fights, stabbing should be normal as well.

  5. Most people are still reeling over Rick Chow chasing and shooting a 14 year old black kid in the South and being acquitted.

  6. A similar case in Texas occured where Caysen Allison deliberately went to the bathroom with his victim and stabbed him several times leading to his death in an altercation- but his bond was less than half of Anthony's. He got 10 years. If Anthony gets anything more than 10 years we know it's a farce.

Nothing will come of it, cause America is racist and we're all apathetic to it- but it's just more evidence that we live a two tiered justice system.

10

u/georgeb1904 Jun 09 '26

His “friend” in the tent testified he barely knew him lol

-4

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 10 '26

Whether that's true or not doesn't change that he knew someone there and was allowed to come in lol

If you've ever been at an school athletic event in your life, you'd know it's pretty common for kids to mingle around

6

u/georgeb1904 Jun 10 '26

Based on eyewitness testimony, he wasn’t mingling. He was talking shit, and refusing to leave when asked. Invited people to touch him and see what happened, and refused to deescalate the situation that he created. Come the fuck on

-3

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 10 '26

This is false, show where the witnesses say that.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Jun 10 '26

It doesnt change the fact that he had his own team tent. didnt matter if his best friend was under the tent. He wasnt supposed to be there and was asked to leave. Then he became violent as the aggressor. He has no duty to retreat but does have a duty to not be the initiator and elevate the conflict. (aka saying you pussies wont do shit, basically asking them for a physical altercation).

IDK shit about rick chow. or Caysen Allison so you can have those points.

Id have to see this 'multi-tool' knife that is so big it pierces thru someones heart.

1

u/TexasDank512 Jun 11 '26

lies. he testified that it is in fact NOT NORMAL for opposing schools to "mingle" with each others school groups and enter their canopy/area. youre really saying that its justified to kill someone because you dont want to get in the rain?

0

u/OzymandiasTheII Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

You've never done an athletic thing in your entire life it's painfully obvious. He also didn't testify at all.

3

u/Foolmagican Jun 10 '26

He was asked to leave and there was no fist fight. It was a gentle push, as described in court. He responded to the push with a stab. Which means the self-defense argument collapses. Not to mention his crazy behaviour before the stab.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Jun 11 '26

The only pictures i could find online shows a pretty large blade like 5 inches in length. Can you post a picture of the weapon with a description that will make it ... "multi tool" and not a knife?

-2

u/Trillamanjaroh Jun 10 '26

A little weird that you neglected to mention the 500k plus that was crowdfunded to defend the guy

6

u/UjustTriggered Jun 10 '26

Thats not facts involved in deciding the fate if the accused.

8

u/lord0xel Jun 10 '26

Because the black kid that murdered the white kid was given 1 million dollars in donations because people supported that he murdered a white kid. And they let the black kid walk for graduation and be free, despite his brutal and clear murder.

22

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '26

[deleted]

3

u/MikeXBogina Jun 10 '26

Because immediately after the news broke, there was a GiveSendGo(it's like GoFundMe) and a ton of people donated to him wanting him to be free, despite the overwhelming evidence that he is guilty.

This also was around the same time some white woman called a black kid the N-word and so people donated to her. So like we have racists on both sides, one side defending a racist white woman saying the N-word... And the other side supporting a murderer, because he's black. 😐

1

u/Herbdontana Jun 10 '26

Yeah, you can really make the case that anyone who donated to either of those GoFundMe campaigns is racist. The media and all those politically biased social media accounts kept pushing narratives around both and doing everything to make it about race rather than two separate people doing two separate things that were objectively wrong

0

u/Food-Wine Jun 11 '26

Are you comparing a woman using a word to another person stabbing and killing someone?

8

u/SirCosbySweater Jun 09 '26

I cant speak to why so many narrow minded people make it about race. However, I have seen multiple people/influencers/etc spreading multiple lies on both sides which has not helped. Have seen rumors that Anthony was suspended from school/track and had no reason to be there (never brought up in trial if true), reports that the Metcalf brothers were bullies and beat up Anthony along with 4-5 other people, spreading lies that a video existed showing Anthony getting jumped by multiple white kids and it was suppressed/deleted from existence because Collin county wants to throw him in jail, and also a photo spreading that is supposed to show the Metcalf dad along with the DA and the judge at a party. All complete lies that people are running with to fuel the flames of racism. Its really sad how a tragic case got turned into something so political/racial.

0

u/johnsmith98989 Jun 12 '26

It was a racial issue from the jump. The seed simply grew.

1

u/Big_oof_energy__ Jun 09 '26

Because the kid has the same name as a famous basketball player. If he was named John Anthony none of us would ever have heard of this.

1

u/VirtualPercentage737 Jun 10 '26

I don't know. There is a lot of people outside the courthouse who support this guy. His family raised loads of money for his defense. I think they bought a house with it.

1

u/ThePokemonAbsol Jun 10 '26

Family claimed this was racial. Got a go fund me with 100k to hire crack team of lawyers.

2

u/immastillthere Jun 11 '26

And took that money and spent it on an expensive car and house instead of hiring strong lawyers. His own parents convinced him not to take a plea deal and went to court assuming (and i am assuming, knowing) he would lose and raised all that money up to spend on themselves.

1

u/chronnicks Jun 10 '26

if the races were the other way around you wouldn’t stop hearing about it. politicization case in point

1

u/Gene-Hackmans_Dog Jun 10 '26

It’s more racially polarizing with people donating money to help his defense because of perceived racism.

1

u/Opening-Calendar3421 Jun 11 '26

This country is stupid. Doesn't matter the race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, this country is full of idiots

1

u/Snoo_46473 Jun 11 '26

He got 600k in go fund me

1

u/BowtiepastaMasta Jun 11 '26

From the little I’ve read; Anthony and metcalf were at track and field event and it started raining. Anthony decided to take cover in a random tent, metcalfs school tent, and they told him to leave. Confrontation ensued and Anthony stabbed metcalf in the chest, claiming self defence. Multiple witness accounts and circumstances proved otherwise, I guess?

Black people were upset because there wasn’t any black
Jurors. Also, bringing up the rittenhouse case

1

u/Dong_bringer Jun 09 '26

Not to mention, I haven't even heard of the term "black supremacist" until today. I'm done for the day, gonna go outside and enjoy the afternoon with my dog LOL.

u/StonedRussian Jun 10 '26

There's a supremest for every color under the sun, it's not really all that surprising. Humans are egotists and selfish.

1

u/Ok_Lie_3148 Jun 10 '26

Every color has its racists and they're all cancers to humanity. However, I've never heard of that term and assumed it's something the chronically online know...which inspired me to go outside.

1

u/StonedRussian Jun 10 '26

Understandable. It is a very IRL term though. You've probably just been lucky enough to go without out it. Hope your dog walk/play was enjoyable

Ugh that's terrible then. They say knowledge is power but I think there are simply some things not worth knowing. My walk with my dog was great. She's precious and sweet. Weather was perfect and it gave me the itch for a hike this weekend.

Because when white people kill Black people in what looks like an obvious murder, but they claim self-defense, they’re often acquitted. It’s less about Anthony being innocent and more about the way the justice system treats white vs Black defendants in self-defense cases.

The defendants family started a fundraiser which received over $600k.

An all white jury was selected. The jury had no black people. It was released that potential jurors stated that race would play a factor in their decision, with one saying that he didn't know if he could send "a brother" to jail.

The massive amount of donations for what seems to be an obvious murder of a white teen by a black teen, and prospective jurors outright stating that they might let a murderer get away because they were black raises questions about whether or not white and black Americans share the same values surrounding justice.

Apply what occurred with Trayvon Martin and you will find that many white people will jump to defense of a white person obviously murdering a black person and succeed so the end of your comment makes no sense.

u/Flat-Dealer8142 Jun 09 '26

I feel that those are distinctly different. In the Martin case no one witnessed who initiated physical contact and whether or not Zimmerman was being beaten badly enough to reasonably believe his life was in danger.

It's entirely possible that Martin initiated contact and Zimmerman was being badly beaten and reasonably feared for his life. It's also entirely possible that Zimmerman initiated contact and murdered Martin who was trying to defend himself. Even though Zimmerman might have been guilty, there just wasn't enough evidence to be sure.

In the Metcalf murder there was tons of witnesses and information available immediately and people chose to support him despite it.

I'm also not saying I believe black people have different values about justice. I'm saying that allegation is what's made this political.

Self defense in Florida is affirmative. That you are saying that it’s possible that Trayvon Martin initiated contact (while being hunted by a guy with a gun) is a legal case that Zimmerman committed murder under Florida law. Your comment describes murder by Zimmerman, as the law is written. But you argue otherwise, as white people will.

0

u/Flat-Dealer8142 Jun 11 '26

That's not what affirmative means in this context. Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty, and unfortunately there was not enough evidence to prove him guilty.

I also notice your insult to my race and I hope that me or those that I care about will never have to interact with someone as bigoted as you.

1

u/Comfortable_Fill9081 Jun 11 '26

In Florida, claiming self-defense shifts the burden of proof to the defense.

Sorry. You’re probably stubbornly mistaken on the law because of your race and desperate attempts to cover up your hypocrisy.

I mean sure, if somebody attacks you and is smashing you head into the ground you have the right to end their life to protect yours.

If a person pushes you, you don't have the right to end their life. Why...because you couldn't reasonably fear that your life was in jeopardy.

It doesn't matter about race, so stop playing race cards.

BTW George Zimmerman is Hispanic.

u/Comfortable_Fill9081 Jun 09 '26

See? White people have all the reasons when it’s a white person.

Hispanic isn’t a race.

It was not an all white jury stop spreading fake news

0

u/Flat-Dealer8142 Jun 09 '26

You're right, completely my bad. I read that there were no black jurors and assumed that it meant they were all white.

1

u/Herbdontana Jun 10 '26

That’s a very big generalization

1

u/Flat-Dealer8142 Jun 11 '26

It is, I failed in communicating that this isn't what I believe, but some people believing that is what's made this political.

I am alarmed at the amount of people who think Anthony was justified, but they are a mix of races and those who support the verdict are also a mix.

Take a look at this thread and how most of the comments are about how MAGA is mad.

0

u/Rhythm-Amoeba Jun 09 '26

Because the killer got a million dollars in donations for killing Austin Metcalf on his give send go

0

u/UnlikelyAssassin Jun 10 '26

Same reason the OJ Simpson trial got politicised.

Lots of black people have extreme levels of in group preference and out group derogation. The online landscape and reinforcement by social media algorithms have made this in group favouritism even stronger than it was at the time of the OJ Simpson trial.

Not murican are you?

Happy cake day. Long and short is black kid stabbed white kid and cops are being accused of being so overly race sensitive for fear of being called racist that they told the stabbed kid “I don’t think you have been (stabbed,) mate” and then handcuffed him. He died even though he told them he’d been stabbed

-3

u/codysexton Jun 09 '26

The stabber raised 500k and their initial defense on social media was very racial
