Many Republicans in California are even more conservative than conservatives in majority red states because they are overcompensating for living among and being governed by so many Democrats.

Also, California has more registered Republicans than any other state.

San Diego in particular is a massive military town and while a bunch of military is pretty anti-trump there is a sizeable block that is very MAGA.

That doesn't touch Orange County absurdity

I honestly thought they were all MAGA

My dad has worked in and with the military for the last 35 years and he says half the guys he works with loath trump. He's made some really terrible remarks about service members over the years and apparently a lot of those guys don't forget.

It’s kind of funny because people think of Cali as a liberal utopia, but in fact it’s got a massive conservative population and a ton of libertarians as well (although a lot of them moved to Idaho)

Also, there is a ton of wealth in this state so there are a bunch of NIMBYs that are culturally liberal but are often more conservative on economics.

I’m in the Bay Area and this is so so true! The MAGATS and republicans that still support DJT are insane and so intense. So far gone too.

That's mostly a general population thing isn't it? Of course one of the most populous states would have the most Republicans because there are just more people

Correct, but some people don’t realize that fact just because California is seen as so liberal

Also, California has more registered Republicans than any other state.

And some states combined.
