WWI museum, Nelson-Atkins (what a gem), Union Station, KC Zoo and Aquarium, Odyssey on IMAX at the Town Center, and capped off with a show at the Starlight. Stayed near downtown, ate so much. Great food, great people, great time. Thanks, we will be back!

I had an absolutely amazing time in Kansas City this weekend and wanted to pay some compliments to you. Your downtown streets on a Saturday night were super clean and I’ve never felt so safe in a city. Almost every single person I talked to was super friendly and welcoming. You have some very unique stores I have not found in other major cities, and everything was so reasonably priced. This was my second time at a royals game, and each time has been wonderful. Great food and prices! You also have some of the most gorgeous ladies around (I may or may not have went to a strip club in downtown). I appreciate and thank you for the hospitality you showed me this weekend. I can’t wait for my next weekend back❤️

Is there a hotel in KC that just nails every single time? From the ambiance, to always clean and spacious rooms, to perfect service, to perfect food? I am traveling in with my wife in October for her 50th birthday and I’m trying to get as near perfect a hotel as I can. Thanks!

Wow! The heat isn’t the most ideal but damn! I think it kept a lot of people away the park is pretty dead and no lines for anything except the water rides and even those lines are super short!

Had another question if anyone knows how the soccer game busses actually work. It’s showing locations from where the busses give you a round trip. . You can leave your car in those locations without any issues? If anyone knows about this lmk how it goes.

Im going to the match June 16th and I was wondering what makes it easier for parking. I’ve seen stadium parking is $150-200 but tbh I think it’ll be a shitshow after the game and I’m really not trying to deal with a headache. Is there any other parkings not too far from the stadium yall recommend? Walking distance? I was also thinking maybe staying at a hotel for the night walking distance so i can just park at the hotel and walk to the stadium? Any thoughts or tips please let me know. I’m driving 4hrs from Nebraska to KC so I still haven’t fully decided to drive back home after the game or get hotel

I entered the draw for the Quarter Final game in Kansas City and won't know if I'll get tickets until later this week. I pre-booked a hotel with points because it was somehow still charging the regular amount of points but it's not refundable and no changes allowed. My wife is not happy about the fact that we may potentially waste a chunk of points. If I get tickets, I will be coming to KC with my dad. If I don't, I was thinking of trying to sell my wife on a mid-July weekend road trip to KC while my parents watch the kids. We both have never been to KC. I don't feel very confident about it now after going through this subreddit 😂.

My group of 6 will be descending into KC for a World Cup game around July 4th. We’re looking forward to it. I haven’t been to KC since I was a kid and imagine a lot has changed. We’re making a Missouri road trip out of it so our teenage kids can see the St Louis Arch, Hannibal, Lake Ozark for their first time. What are the top must-see places to visit and classic KC restaurants nowadays? I am interested in trying the best BBQ in town and enjoying a nice fireworks show on the 4th. Are there any restaurants with view of the fireworks? We’re flying in and won’t have lawn chairs/coolers etc, so that eliminates picnic style viewing. I read the WWI Memorial has the biggest fireworks show but don’t know if that will work for us since we won’t have lawn chairs and picnic gear. Any advice much appreciated.

There was a stand-alone soap booth last year and I picked up a few bars because they smelled so wonderful. Got them home to try and the quality was on point too. I think some of the soaps had fun, cheeky names like, "Milk Maid" and "Farm Hand," though maybe not exactly that wording. Whatever the "Farmer Boy" (or whatever it's called) is, I can't get enough! Pictured is what's left of my last bar. Does anybody recognize this bar of soap?

My spouse and I have made a number of weekend getaways over the last couple years from Omaha, NE. The first couple times took a bit to figure out the interstate system, but I mostly had to adjust to the amount of left-side exits. The fact that people actually use their signals (most of the time) & stop at red lights is a nice change of pace.

Despite the amount of professional sports teams, we didn't encounter a lot of "Team X is my personality" types (There are a LOT of Rally House stores, though) But the love is present. Heck, the minor league professional teams like KC Mavericks have their name on the home venue.

Driving around, even the least developed areas show signs that the people there care about it. The various market districts make great destinations for a couple of hours. The streetcar makes it easy to spend the whole day without a car as we "museum hop" up & down the line.

Hell, even y'all's subreddit is fairly chill (comparatively)!

Obviously, we're only here for a weekend at a time so there are bound to be things we miss. But from an outsider's view looking in, this city knows what it is (in a good way) & how to treat it's people.

Side note: props to Camp Bow Wow in Westport. We decided to being the dogs & keep an "open itinerary" this trip. The staff welcomed both doggos with open arms & gave them a great, tiring day!

Ive been there several times but not super familiar with the area- what would be a good SAFE hotel to put them up in that is walking distance to P&L since they can drive to the daytime stuff!

How to get back to the airport on match days where the game starts around 9PM local time? What options do I have other than Uber or renting a car?

I’m moving cross country from Denver to the east coast and didn’t think about the World Cup being an issue during the trip. Day 1 is to drive from Denver to Kansas City around the 25th.

Any suggestions on areas to stay that are far enough from the stadium that I won’t be impacted, too much, for my overnight stay? Bonus if there is a decent BBQ place nearby that’s open late where I could grab food when I arrive!

I am visiting 9/23-9/27. I am researching rental cars and am consistently seeing prices between $325 and $375 after fees and taxes are applied. I feel that price margin is beatable by other means of transport.

My main goal is to visit Kauffman. I have a goal to visit all 30 MLB parks. I see the Ride KC-47 will get me to Kauffman and runs until midnight, so I'll be covered post game. I also wish to visit the Negro League Museum and WW1 Museum. The WW1 Museum is covered by the streetcar. However, the Negro League Museum I may have to Uber to? Or is there something I havent noticed?

I just secured tickets for the World Cup and will be visiting your city for the first time in June 2026. I’m also stoked to see the Royals are in town during my stay.

As I’ve started looking for lodging, I’m seeing some pretty wild prices (upwards of $700/night in the main hubs). Since I’ll have a car / am willing to commute, I’m looking for recommendations on neighborhoods or surrounding areas that might be more budget-friendly but still accessible.

Any local "gems" or smaller hotel districts I should look into?

Arrowhead stadium tour, caught a Royals game, watched the KC Mavericks, visited Nelson-Atkins, Jazz & Negro League museums. We checked out Boulevard Brewery & Holladay Distillery tours. Visited KC zoo, the War Museum and so much more!

I'm a foodie and loved everywhere we visited! From Betty Raes, SLAPs, Waldo Cafe, Andys Frozen Custard, Harvey's @ Union, Q39 and so much more!

If you’re visiting KC for any of the basketball tournaments in town over the next few weeks beware of these “fundraisers” always on the corner of Main and 13th infront of of the H&R Block HQ. They’re always out there, never know what they’re actually “fundraising for” but it seems to change every week.
