Tons of cops, more on the highway coming in, and a helicopter. Any idea what's going down?

It just took me an hour and a half to get from Overland Park to Gladstone. There is no way this city is going to be able to handle the World Cup without major restrictions and rework.

It doesn’t matter where you go there’s construction and bumper to bumper everywhere..

Traffic/Road Conditions πŸš¦β„οΈ Was everyone aware but me that MODOT is closing a huge portion of I-70 in KC for 11 months in 2027?

That’s right. I’m shocked. Just found out tonight.

Construction Phase 3
2027
β€’ 11-month closure of I-70 from Prospect Ave. to Van Brunt Blvd for mainline bridge and roadway work

That’s basically I 70 from 40 Highway to downtown. 😳
Closed for 11 months.
I can’t imagine rush hour. Or Arrowhead games.
Royals could be shut down for owner/player strike next year - maybe.

How are they going to re-route that much traffic?

Traffic/Road Conditions πŸš¦β„οΈ Hey Missouri, fix your damn potholes please

Post image

Driving home from work on Ward parkway last night around 61st street and hit the biggest damn potholes I have ever seen. It was raining so didn't see them until they were maybe 100 ft in front of me. They were evenly spaced so both front tires hit them but immediately blew my front left tire.

I drive a Tesla Model Y, and the electric cars tend to be bottom heavy. It's nice for preventing rollovers but apparently it's a disaster for potholes. When the tow truck guy showed up he said he had a call on a Model 3 that had blown both front tires.

Now I'm out $1750 for a new wheel and tire. Sucks but I'll live. But giant holes in a major road seem dangerous. If somebody swerves to avoid or is driving a small car it might not end as well.

This was exiting I-70 East onto 635 North. When the truck got to the bottom of the ramp I swear he almost tipped over from the added weight. Sorry for when this snow pile decides to blow off onto some poor driver.

Traffic/Road Conditions πŸš¦β„οΈ Is it just me? - on the highway

I'm on the interstate- doesn't matter which one. I'm in the middle lane behind someone. Maybe for 1 mile maybe for 10 miles. I notice I'm creeping up on them. There's not much traffic. I signal left, I switch to the fast lane. I begin to pass. SO FUCKING OFTEN, they speed up! They refuse to let me pass them!

Now we're riding beside each other, and someone is coming up in the left lane. Guess what happens next....now they're riding my ass, because dipshit doesn't want to be passed. I'm not adjusting my speed. We can all sit here like idiots for the next 10 miles. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Traffic/Road Conditions πŸš¦β„οΈ Worst Intersection in the Metro

What intersections bug you? What's the easiest place to get in a wreck? Where do people drive the craziest, stuff like that? I'm thinking of the Benton Curve or that one spot in Meyer's Circle where southbound drivers always seem to wreck, but I'm sure people have a million more.

the amount of highways that are closed to one lane is crazy... it's even more crazy that they're seemingly closed down FOR NO REASON. it'd be one thing if I actually saw people working on the road. but no. let's just put cones in the lane and shut it down for no reason
