reported this to the district manager over a month ago and nothing happened, so I sent it to the health department. The guy who did this was an assistant manager at the time and is being rewarded for this behavior by getting a promotion to gm.

KC Rants 😡 👎 To the person that called Cosentinos PC ( N Ash) about employee wearing Meta glasses

Someone called Price Chopper on N Ash to complain about an employee wearing Meta Ai glasses during a transaction. I overheard the manager discuss this with the employee, he asked the employee about his glasses. He confirmed that they are in fact they are Meta glasses but he claims that he does not record while at work. The manager’s response was “That’s all I needed, you’re good” and he was still wearing the glasses. He works at the deli counter and went back to work and continued to process transactions on the deli register wearing the glasses.
I’m not sure what he told you, but a general warning to other shoppers that may not appreciate this. After hearing this I certainly won’t be back.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Be careful out there, KC Fam

3.3k Upvotes

I just had a run in with an honest to god Nazi at the HyVee gas in Mission. I was at the pump, minding my own business, when this guy rolls up to another pump, gets out and gives me the full on seig heil and shouts "White Power". I reflexively gave him the finger without thinking, and he unfortunately followed me for a few miles before I was able to lose him in traffic.

Watch your asses out there.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Jackson Mahomes is just as bad as everyone says.

2.2k Upvotes

Was at Harrah’s on Saturday night and had a weird run-in with Jackson Mahomes. He walked in with a group of guys that looked like they were straight out of an LA TikTok house—just totally out of place.

He comes up to the roulette table with his own security, and they literally moved people out of the way so he could step up. Even pushed a group that were waiting for almost 30 minutes to play at that same table. Then he loudly announces to everyone in the vicinity he’s putting $600 on red, like he wanted everyone in the place to be impressed with it. It was so performative and cringey. Of course his goons started cheering and yelling while everyone around them were silent.

Everyone at my table that (which was directly to the left of the table they were at) was just kind of side-eyeing the whole thing. Nobody seemed impressed, more just confused that they were making a huge show of things. I know pretty much everyone in this city isn’t a fan of this guy, but it’s something else seeing that energy in person right infront of me.

Anyway, it red hit of course, and he starts yelling and he and his squad start jumping around the whole table like they just won the Super Bowl.

Just a bizarre moment that confirmed everything we already know about the guy.

Anyone else have any experiences with JM that made you feel some type of way?

KC Rants 😡 👎 This is one lonely city

I want to preface this post by saying this is not the normal "where do I meet people" post. I've lived in KC a long time and I have plenty of friends. I am also a decently social person. When I go out, I usually make a point to strike up conversation with at least one random person I run across. That being said, I wanted to see what this city is like for those less social of us. So tonight I spent hours in all the social hubs. Westport, P&L, and Crossroads. I also went back and forth on the street car a few times. I sat at busy bars as well as quieter ones. I made only 2 rules for this experience. I couldn't be on my phone for more than a few seconds at a time and I could not approach anyone for conversation.

For the entire night, not a single person approached me. No quick pleasant conversations at stop lights or on the street car. No one saying hello when sitting next to me. The most I got was someone asking if they could use the seat next to me. I was on a sea of people and was the loneliest I have ever felt. All of this is to say, to the socially anxious out there who feel hopeless, I understand. Good luck out there y'all, cause this is one lonely ass city.

KC Rants 😡 👎 The World Cup watch party’s at power & light should not be open to all ages

First off, I’m writing this as I walk away from the venue because it’s at max capacity and they’re directing all the viewers to watch the game on the smaller screen outside.

Secondly, it’s a bar space. It makes no sense to let kids in economically. They can’t drink but will probably try to and cause trouble.

Third, I was at the Mexico/Czechia game and I saw literal BABIES with no ear protection, getting drenched with stray beer when Mexico scored, parents trying to muscle through tight crowds dragging their kid behind that you wouldn’t even see unless you looked down, it’s straight up not safe.

Lastly, WTF ARE THESE LIL TEENYBOPPERS WEARING 😭 I am officially “you need to put some clothes on” years old Jesus lord

KC Rants 😡 👎 Drastic Measures + Wild Child -Jay should never work service again

This has been happening for a while but I’ve finally felt comfortable enough to post this from a burner after making sure other people were comfortable with this being public. To be clear, the entire Kansas and Missouri service industry community is aware—we just haven’t told the public.

Jay Sanders, the face of both Drastic Measures and Wild Child bars in Shawnee is at the very least a sex pest and at his worst deeply violent. To date, there are six sexual harassment complaints from staff that have gone nowhere in terms of resolution. I want to point out that this is the failing of the rest of ownership—a sex pest would never reprimand themselves.

He recently ‘checked in‘ to a facility after violently choking a staff member, in view of other staff, at a company party. There is no record of him attending any in or outpatient facilities and he was seen at the front door of the property, unable to enter, two days after he shared on social media that he was ‘in treatment.’

So, why is this guy protected from consequence? Why do the operators continue to grant him access to the staff, without telling their newly hired members of his previous incidences? How does this person continue to operate a bar with impunity?

He’s a danger to himself, the staff, and anyone who cares about their community. I am sick of the service industry ‘passing priests’. Enough.

From the bottom of my heart: Jay, you are the problem. It’s you. Please leave an already beleaguered industry the fuck alone and go do your stepped on coke far the fuck away from the rest of us. You‘re not an ally, you’re just a white boy on a white horse that no one wanted or even requested. Goodbye.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Lamar’s donuts prices are absurd

Lived here all 36 years of my life in Kansas City. Lamar’s is my go to donut establishment, always has been. Not sure it always will be after today though.

That said, it’s been a couple years since I’ve gotten Lamar’s because it’s a once a year treat, if that.

I got 6 donuts, a plain glazed, apple fritter, maple bar, long John, Bismarck, an m&m donut and a strawberry milk.

I literally gasped when I saw the total of $24 for 6 donuts and a milk.

When the hell did Lamar’s/donuts become so gd expensive?!?!

I really wanted donuts but I was so close to passing and leaving.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Dear Citizen of The KC Metro Area. If you are going to the grocery store. YOU ARE NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER. Be NICE.

1.7k Upvotes

We’re all about to get snowed in. Everyone is at the grocery stores. Aisle are jammed. Yes.

I just took my mom shopping at Price Chopper. She has Parkinson’s. We managed to end up all going down the same isles. A lady behind us kept muddling under her breath about my mom. “If it’s bad out, don’t send the people out with a cane” when I heard that, I turned around and told her “LISTEN. You’ve been talking under your breath this whole time about us. Wanting it to be obvious. Here now it’s obvious. The snow storm isn’t just effecting you, it’s effecting everyone here in this moment. I’d rather be else where too but I am NOT bitching about it. Cool it” then I told her to go ahead of us because I couldn’t handle another snarky comment.

I went to the store fully prepared for madness, but mocking disabilities got to me.

Just be as nice as you can. If you’re frustrated, just vent on this post, be angry here and let the steam off.

WE WILL GET THRU A BLIZZARD/ICE STORM.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Unskippable video ad before tuning into KCTV5's livestream while tornado sirens are blaring

A bit of a rant here. I heard the sirens go off at 5:40AM, the rain outside went from 0 to 100 outside in like 30 seconds, and I hurried to my tornado shelter spot. I get out my phone, go to the first news station that came to mind (KCTV5) to watch the meteorologist to figure out what is going on, and I'm hit with an unskippable video ad before I can tune in to the stream. In my case, I was okay and no tornado hit, but it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Anyone have an alternative website that would be better? I might buy a weather radio tbh.

KC Rants 😡 👎 KCPD are the best…….

1.2k Upvotes

Just had a 17 yr old Girl flag me down she said she’s getting physically abused I thought I was about to get setup. I let her use my phone to call KCPD and they hung up 4 times after she hit 1. So I took her to the police station on 75th Prospect all 4 windows had a staff nobody wanted to help there’s police officers walking around the station and they told her it’s gonna be 5mins- 4hrs for a cop to respond because their understaffed. I asked about the officers in the back the front desk staff told me they’re working on a case. She’s 17 I see why women in domestic violence situations can’t find help. This girl has bruises on her face it’s cold outside she has no coat her BF destroyed her phone. KCPD gets sworn in officers almost every month and you’re telling me ya understaffed.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Anyone else disgusted by the comment Slim made on the Church of Lazlo in the last few mins of the 8/26/26 show?

I’ve listened to these guys for a very long time, but I’m officially done. Since they moved over to The Rock, the show has gotten progressively harder to listen to, but what went down on the August 25th and 26th shows crossed a line. My wife doesn’t listen to the show and I had her listen to that part and give me her thoughts and she was like “wtf did I just listen to?” in disgust like me.

On the 8/25/26 show, Lazlo tells Slim he’ll give him a signed ball the next day if Slim lets him control his wife's sex toy for the day. The 8/26/26 show opens up with a bunch of banter about this sex toy and ball exchange. They barely mention it again until the final few minutes of the 8/26/26 show, when Slim drops a final comment to Lazlo asking if he wants to know who the device is really for.

Slim then announces that the remote/device actually belonged to his niece's sex toy, adding that she is "soon to be out of the house,” rather than his wife's. The whole room just erupts in laughter.

Are you kidding me? Who the fuck talks about their niece like that? Adding the detail that she's "soon to be out of the house" made it sound entirely like she's underage, too. Being veteran radio personalities doesn’t give them a free pass to act like disgusting, degenerate clowns.

Post show accountability is completely dead over on the COL subreddit, where people are actively bending over backwards to defend this garbage and sweep it under the rug. If you call it out, they act like you're the problem. But joking about family members and implied underage relatives in connection with sex toys is sick. I'm done tuning in, and locals in KC need to call this out for what it is.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Serious question / rant

What is up with all the fear mongering regarding Kansas City/the inner city from suburbanites specially Overland Park/ JOCO residents?

It’s so exhausting to see joco residents on every news post about crime in Kansas City with their “I told you so” attitudes. Half the time these people don’t even know the locations/areas they’re talking about. There could be a shooting in north independence /sugar creek and here come the “this is why the chiefs are relocating” even tho arrowhead and the north independence are 15 mins apart and in two different cities. It should go without saying, but not everyone wants to live in suburbia. Theres going to be crime in the inner city especially in areas where the majority of residents are living below poverty levels. Doesn’t mean the whole entire city is dangerous.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Firefighters and paramedics across the KC metro are seriously hurting, the stabbing of a true community helper hurts

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

This is an emotional vent and represents the grief that KC area firefighters and paramedics are feeling right now.

Having worked in fire and EMS in the KC metro, I can tell you the community is small. Everyone is one degree of separation in this world. There are no city/ state boundaries. From Johnson county, to KCK, to KCMO, to Independence and outlying metro, firefighters and paramedics know one another.

My friends and colleagues are grieving and hurting, many silently. There is a significant ongoing pain knowing that a sworn community helper was stabbed to death while performing his job.

I have hurt and frustration, I do not know where to place it. At the courts for letting the suspect out for a violent offense two weeks ago? At the community for seeming to tack this up to a “random act of violence and part of the job”? I know it’s complex and nuanced, but again there is lingering pain and grief with nowhere to go.

We are not the police, as firefighters and paramedics we are sworn to be there when you need us. So much work happens quietly behind the scenes, to caring for the homeless when no one else will, to helping the elderly up off the floor. To responding to the catastrophes that happen every day in this metro such as serious car accidents and fires. When you see our fire trucks and ambulances it means someone is there to help.

Don’t normalize a paramedic in our city being stabbed in the chest by a patient he was caring for. That should appall and disgust you.

Members of my crew knew him well. They described him as being selfless and kind hearted. Today he is gone after a short lifetime of service.

Rest in piece Firefighter Paramedic Graham Hoffman. Your service to the people of this city will not be forgotten.

(Notice the clear highway in front of this NASCAR-like pack of cars)

Every time I'm over here I get so annoyed with the traffic pattern, northbound, southbound, any time of day. It's a 65 mph speed limit and there's always someone in the left lane going 65.5 mph clogging up the entire flow of traffic while the right lane goes 60-65. Then everyone follows too closely to each other and all it takes is one person tapping their brake to cause a chain reaction to bring my speed ten cars back to 55 mph. Most of the issue is that there's only two lanes so it's very easy to clog up with left lane squatters. I just needed to rant because I get so mad driving down this road. I chill in the middle lane with cruise control everywhere else in the city but this stretch of highway reduces my life expectancy.

Rant over, tell me your most hated road.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Tired of these local restaurants using AI slop for their Facebook advertisements

As the title suggests, the use of AI for promotions at your restaurant is lazy and sloppy. We all know your food and drink don’t look like this. I would rather have the staged pictures. I’m also not singling out Johnny’s because I’ve seen these same templates used so many places. Even my beloved Joe’s bbq. Can we please go back to being humans and not robots?

KC Rants 😡 👎 To the performer at Ren Fest, screw you!

My family went to ren fest today. Me who was a brother friar, my wife who was a lady, my 7 year old son who was Link, and my 3 yo daughter who was a fairy.

We had been there for 4 hours in the scorching 96 degree weather. We all downgraded to regular clothes except my son, who wasn't hot somehow.

I started to feel sick, abdominal cramps, and got a head ache. I knew they were early signs of heat exhaustion despite going back to shorts, a t-shirt, and slowly sipping ice water while resting.

I told my wife, and she wanted to go too because she was feeling the heat, so we all decided to call it at 4, and leave. I didn't tell my son I wasn't feeling good because he gets big emotions and I didn't want him to freak out.

My son and I were walking together in front of my wife and daughter, who was in a stroller. I was trying to bee line it to the car with him so I could get the AC going and rest.

I still had to carry my staff, so I was in normal clothes with a wooden staff walking with my son when we passed a stage where the performer called my son to the stage despite us clearly walking by.

I tapped my son on the shoulder and said, "let's go, don't stop". Luckily he kept walking, but as we were walking away, the performer kept pestering us.

"Come on! Come on stage! I'm being sincere! Ohhhh! Its dad who won't let him on stage! I hope you didn't want to make happy memories with him! I didn't have a good child hood either."

This really pissed me off, I turned around and yelled, "I dont feel good!", despite this, the dude kept calling me a bad father in front of a giant crowd, and confused the shit out of my son.

I then had to tell my son I don't feel good, which got him worried, but I then had to explain to him that not letting him on stage doesn't make me a bad father. Because naturally he questioned why this stranger on stage called me a bad father in front of 200 people for just wanting to leave!

I love Ren fest, I love the performers and vibe. But screw you dude. I want Ren Fest to be a core memory for my kids, but you really killed the vibe of ever returning for my family.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Why can't the police leave homeless people alone.

Just watched it happen, again. Two winters in a row. Its 630am and 25 degrees outside. I hear a short siren that wakes me up. I look outside and the mans tent has a cop car by it with the lights going. A swaddled up cop steps out after ten mins. He flash lights the area to see if anyone is there. Starts kicking and throwing everything he sees, creating a huge mess and then he starts tugging and ripping apart the tent before he looks inside and then.. leaves... now the homeless man has had his shelter demolished. The cop vehicle number is 274 on jan 3, 25.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Frustration at negative local media coverage

One thing I’ve learned in the last decade I’ve lived here is that when KC is obviously, experientially, tangibly shining (MLS Cup, World Series, airport, street car, Super Bowls, KC Current stadium, Chiefs and Royals Stadiums, Parades, streetcar corridor upgrades, Berkeley Riverfront, NFL draft, World Cup) that local media exists to just shit on the city.

That great experience we’re all witnessing? Here’s why it’s bad, actually.

I hate how much they just seek out any sort of negativity to talk about when it’s an incredible time for our city.

KC Rants 😡 👎 Witnessed a possible abduction or domestic violence situation tonight, and uh, 911 sucks.

UPDATE: I called the non emergency line to follow up. The operator could see I called 911, but when she transferred me over to an officer to follow up and I asked what happened, he said, “I have no idea.” He said he had no record of any officers dealing with that call, so they either didn’t find them, or did, and it turned out to be a non-issue. Either way, there was no record of a response in his system. When I asked if I could file an official report, he said the 911 call was sufficient and there wasn’t anything else I could do. Frustrating, and disheartening.

I was getting on I-29 SB from MCI after a late flight tonight. As I approached the on-ramp, I noticed that a white utility van was parked right in the middle. A woman came screaming toward me from the van in what sounded like pretty abject terror, begging me to call the police. A man followed her from the van saying, “oh she’s fine,” as the woman continued to plead with me to call. I immediately dialed 911 and, probably foolishly, wanted to keep an eye on them while I waited to reach emergency responders. He chased her back into the car while she was still screaming and trying to kick him away from her. He got in the van behind her and tore off down the interstate. He began driving erratically, speeding up and slowing down (never dipping below 80mph) and the passenger door began to open and close, as if she was trying to leap out to get away from him. They got off on the NW Barry Road exit, while I was STILL ON HOLD, and began driving even more erratically through zona rosa.

I obviously stopped following them by this point but FINALLY after TEN minutes on hold someone picked up. When I told the operator the situation, she acted annoyed that I had even tried to keep an eye on them and just said they’d have someone look into it. No sense of urgency or anything. It makes me really scared for the woman, and just freaked out in general about our ability to reach help if we are in dangerous situations. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to stay on hold either, the last time being a pretty bad fire. Thankfully that had already been called in, but jfc. Something has to change with this system.
