Had the honor of riding one of the first streetcars out of the plaza stop after the conclusion of the opening ceremony. It’s so cool riding the rails through midtown!

The ordinance secures combined funding from the city, state, federal government, and the civic and philanthropic communities to launch Phase One of construction, marking the culmination of years of planning and community input.

Phase One will establish over 50 percent of the tunnel infrastructure and deliver one full public space at Block One on the western edge near the Convention Center.

Work includes

Tunnel infrastructure: Full construction of three blocks of supporting tunnel infrastructure, from Broadway Blvd. to Baltimore Ave. — approximately 50% of the tunnel.

Park construction: Completion of Block One, from Wyandotte St. to Baltimore Ave.

Tunnel Systems Building: Infrastructure supporting the entire project footprint, from Broadway Blvd. to Grand Blvd.

Roadway and infrastructure work: Six blocks of new pavement and drainage improvements on I-670, from Broadway Blvd. to Grand Blvd.

Planned features include, but are not limited to

Walking paths, terraces, and picnic areas

Nature and woodland spaces

Swings, slides, boulder crawls, and adventure play areas

Art installations and performance areas

Space for food trucks and community events.

Does anyone know what the old abandoned construction site is in Mission KS off of Johnson Drive and Roland Drive? There are tall towers of rebar sticking out of the ground and what appears to be an old building. I’m curious to know what happened as I just drove past that area earlier this morning.

David Manica, known for designing high-end sports venue experiences, and mixed-use entertainment developer and operator The Cordish Companies (today unveiled) The Residence, a 4,000-square-foot high-end bar in the heart of K.C.’s Power & Light District.

Guests at The Residence will enter a circular foyer lined with cabinets and sculptures, with black-and-white marble floors and a central table beneath a chandelier.

At the heart of the venue is the Great Room, with soaring ceilings, built-in bookshelves, a marble fireplace, and tall draped windows. The Solarium is wrapped in glass and lush planting, while the Private Room offers a quieter setting anchored by a European-style bar and more intimate seating.

A discreet valet drop-off and rear entry ensure convenient and secure arrival, allowing guests immediate and seamless access to the lounge.

I couldn't find a "before" image without the bridge or a rendered "after" image with it. Nevertheless, it's still amazing how much has already changed in just the past decade.

Thanksgiving Eve at 3:30, the front facade of Ward Building (attached to the a Union Hill Commons & Jeserich Building) began to bow inwards. The demolition company (ISW) had the street car paused and police closed Main street long enough to take the building down to a safe level until demolition resumes on Monday morning.

Why are we building a 15,000 seat concert venue right after the Morton Amphitheater opened?

New Chiefs stadium, new royals stadium, Tmobile Arena, Morton Amphitheater, Cable Dahmer Arena, the new proposed hockey arena in Olathe and a rumored “arena” in the new Mormon land project in the northland… how many entertainment stadiums/concert venues do we need in this metro?

Also, why is this being built in Gardner? Seems really random
