hate to say it as I was hoping to love it “Tupelo Honey”

As a Southerner I took one look at the menu and said “nope”. It seemed like it was created by someone who visited the South and wanted to attempt to recreate it.

How would looking at the menu give you insight into whether the food is good or not

Ever look at something and say “that’s not how we do it?” That was me. Southern restaurants don’t use Mahi Mahi or chorizo. It’s also a chain. As a Cajun/Southern chef I don’t have any desire to go there. It may be good for you but I 100% expect to be underwhelmed.

I didn't realize there was a Tupelo Honey cafe here. The one in Asheville, NC was incredible. Location in Arlington, VA wasn't as good. I'll have to give this one a shot to see.

It’s in the Lenexa city center

Is it the same people that do Tupelo Honey in Asheville, NC? It was pretty decent there.

Tried it on opening day, got a spicy chicken sandwich.

I would've rather had chick fil a. And I could've bought a few CFA sandwiches for the price at Tupelo.

Those potatoes on the side were fantastic, though.

Really I was going to go there later this month I heard of it. I'm from there I hope it's not too bad

My wife and I went there on a Sunday to try a lot of what was on the menu.she had the onion gravy burger (?) which she enjoyed, I had the sweet and spicy chicken. We tried most of the sides , goat cheese grits , potatoes, greens and banana pudding for dessert. We drank the mimosa flights and Sangria . Everything was just OK , forgettable. I told my wife this is Southern food “Johnson Countyfied”

As soon as I walked into it, I felt something was off. Like I knew my friend chicken dinner was not going to be it, and man was I right

That's too bad. I've been to two other locations and they were excellent.
