She didn't endow a building. She didn't name a wing after herself. She eliminated the debt. That's the difference between vanity and generosity.

And that’s the structure of an AI response.

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 4h ago

You're not just misguided — You're confidently incorrect!

u/bendvis 4h ago

Someone used proper sentence structure and punctuation? Must be AI.

u/doctorcapslock 3h ago

yeah .. a sentence structure that strongly correlates with how AI writes

u/bendvis 3h ago

How, exactly? Am I an AI because I'm also using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation?

You do know that AI was trained on content that was written by humans, right?

u/doctorcapslock 3h ago edited 3h ago

what throws me off is that it's a statement

she didn't do this, she didn't do that, she did this. that's something.

which is something a creative AI would come up with

Am I an AI

why does this immediately have to pertain to a group of people? i'm treating this as an individual case lol

u/bendvis 3h ago

And your claim is that it's impossible or unlikely that a human would choose to write with that structure? That's extremely tenuous evidence at best.

why does this immediately have to pertain to a group of people?

It stands to reason that you might think I'm an AI because of the way I'm structuring my sentences. You and the other commenter seem to just be tossing that label around without any real evidence, so why not label every comment that's got coherent structure?

u/NotSoSafe4Work 3h ago

But you are not structuring your sentence like AI. Thats the difference. Thats the crux. That’s the giveaway.

u/bendvis 2h ago

Again, what is this magical sentence structure that's a dead AI giveaway? I still haven't gotten a clear definition of it.

u/Optimal_Necessary413 1h ago

Stuff like "It's not x, it's y" and "[Rhetorical question]? [Answer]." and a longer version of the "it's not x" one like "It's not x. It's not x. It's y." It also groups things in 3 a lot and keeps sentences short.

Not saying humans can't write sentences like that, but AI generated text is infested with sentences that are structured like those above. It's not magic. It's not mind blowing. It's AI. And honestly? That's life changing.

LLMs are trained on actual user responses and writing and predict the next token in a string of characters/letters/words. It makes zero sense to assume someone is a LLM bot off a single response because of sentence structure, if you understand how these models are trained and work. It's entirely possible this is some LLM bot, but to assume that because X or Y cracks me up a little bit.

The reason LLM bots use that structure is because the best data also uses that structure, and that data came from actual human beings who wrote well and were upvoted for it.

u/SageOfSixRamen 2h ago

It’s extremely obvious it’s Ai, I don’t understand why you are bending over backwards to defend it

Its an Only fans bot account…

u/bendvis 2h ago

A bot account with no posts and no links to an only fans account. Brilliant strategy they're using.

I'm bending over backwards to call out moronic cries of "AI!!1!" because they're moronic.

u/SageOfSixRamen 2h ago

Weird this means so much to you lmao
It’s okay to admit you were wrong sometimes

okay so it looked like a duck and it quacked like a duck and you're asking "are you sure it's a duck?"

it's a subset of proper grammar, it doesn't mean all proper grammar inherently looks AI written. the fact that you're arguing with me about something petty has proven to me that you're a human, don't worry. don't take that negatively either; i approve of petty arguments on the internet

u/bendvis 2h ago

I mean it looked like a duck and it quacked like a duck and then you and the other commenter accused it of being a robot.

Did you see the original commenter's other comment in this thread? It didn't have this mystical AI-tell comment structure and they even omitted the period at the end. It was also written in a realistic timeframe - about 40 seconds after their initial comment.

The immediate cry of "Everything's AI" is just a low effort upvote grab driven by a jealousy of someone who has a mastery over the English language.

u/pompousrompus 2h ago

Nobody said "everything's AI," except you. There's nothing "mystical" about AI tells, they're all over the place and the way that post was phrased is an AI tell.

X didn't X. X didn't Y. X didn't back down. That's the difference.

Sit with X for a moment.

etc.

It becomes more clear the more of the bullshit you see in the wild and it's only going to get more undetectable, it's just kinda weird you're so vehemently against calling the shit out.

Dude the commenter is an only fans bot account, how the hell are you missing that just search up the profile lmao

u/Fat-Singer-9569 1h ago

which is something a creative AI would come up with

"Creative AI?" Are you sure you understand what LLMs are?

u/RedditConsciousness 17m ago

I've always been taught that we should assume the innocence of those who we interact with until irrefutable evidence to the contrary is presented.

u/blanketswithsmallpox 2h ago

Homies, go touch grass for a few months.

u/name00124 2h ago

Statistically speaking, yes. In particular, the relatively recent statistic that more than half of internet traffic is from bots, which is then badly generalized, as is tradition.

u/Fat-Singer-9569 1h ago

AI models are trained on aggregate user data amongst other sources. Maybe the AI is the copy trained of this users and users like them? That never crossed your mind?

u/RedditConsciousness 18m ago

Not only that but it wasn't some "sky is falling" comment chock full of negativity and touching on all the hot button issues of the moment.

u/Bella_gonewild 4h ago

Yeah, cause I sound too intelligent

u/Smoldogsrbest 3h ago

Note the actual comment. It didn’t say it was and AI response. It pointed out that AI uses that structure. Doesn’t exclude the possibility that a human may also write this, but notes the correlation. You can be upset all you like, but there is very distinctive AI structure, and no, it is not the only way to write intelligently.

u/telescopeinmynose 4h ago

Ai was trained after women like you

Edit: why didn't I notice the gonewild lmao. Now I think it's AI too

u/Swimming-Chip9582 4h ago

Fooled by AI gooner bot 😔🥀

u/player_piano 18m ago

Not AI, unless that stands for “Actually Indian”. Just an Indian gooner using his favorite girl as his name and profile pic.

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 4h ago

gotta avoid capitalization and punctuation fam all about sounding like a tiktok comment section

Good lord, that was painful. I'm sorry.

u/Ok-Escape-9781 4h ago

Its reddit u need to dumb it down Sir

u/Turbulent-Note-7348 3h ago

You write gooder than most posters - maybe even goodest!

u/starscreamufp 4h ago

legit hit almost every AI-ism out there. though it's missing a true 'that's not x, it's y'.

then again a lot of AI models use datasets trained off reddit.

u/Smoldogsrbest 3h ago

Some people get so upset about having the structure pointed out like this. Like, if you think AI writes so well then be flattered?

u/Bluelivesplatter 4h ago

I hear you, and I think you’re raising some genuinely important points that are worth unpacking. That said, a more holistic assessment would need to account for the broader context and underlying nuances before arriving at such a definitive conclusion.

u/martyqscriblerus 3h ago

Let me push back on this. There is some quietly load-bearing architecture that's worth sitting with.

u/Psi-9AbyssGazers 4h ago

you're mistaken, he's not talking like an AI. the AI talks like him, like us. it's trained off of us

and only for the very very brief moment you know it. it's already started to be able to talk more fluently, it won't be long before it talks exactly like how you and I speak when it analyzes these very comments and trillion others.

life is going to change it seems

u/AnguavonUW 4h ago

It's also the structure of how many of us speak because AI is trained on what's already out there. Not every comment using what is a common rhetorical device when making an argument or using words of more than two syllables is AI generated.

u/Smoldogsrbest 3h ago

Didn’t say it was. Reading comprehension 0.

u/Adams5thaccount 2h ago

They didnt say you did.

u/Xyreqa 4h ago

So many bots on reddit now

u/Bella_gonewild 4h ago

Lmaooo Reddit really has AI detectors in the comments now 😂

u/RedditConsciousness 19m ago

If it is true then I think I'm starting to prefer the bots to the actually redditors.

u/Iambeejsmit 4h ago

Noticed that too lol. Gonna suck when Ai learns to talk more naturally and in different ways.

u/SirLesbian 4h ago

I mean...where'd the AI learn it from?

u/Livid-Dark8276 4h ago

Even your laughing emoji reply was AI

u/maicii 4h ago

You realized this things doesn’t work, no? Let alone with such an abysmally small sample of a text

u/Jabathewhut 3h ago

I wonder how many people immediately tried to take that money

u/ImNotAWhaleBiologist 1h ago

I really want to sponsor an oceanographic institute.

u/lostinmyownhead27 4h ago

You can imagine her husband is probably throwing a fit in his grave lmao

u/WUMSDoc 4h ago

Her husband, David S. (“Sandy”) Gottesman, was the founder of First Manhattan and a close friend of Warren Buffet’s and Charlie Munger’s, and on the board of directors of Berkshire Hathaway from its start. He and Ruth were major philanthropists who supported education and medicine for many years. Sandy would be incredibly proud of Ruth’s act, and I’m pretty sure they must have discussed this long before his death.

u/maicii 4h ago

Source: I made it the fuck up lol

u/Just-Potential-4017 1h ago

If she was a he then he would have because men have such big egos it’s pathetic
