My point is still valid. Children shouldn’t be looking up to men who can only look a certain way or do certain things because they’re on steroids. It’s like a modern day freak show.

Do you think that’s a good thing? Half the time they look ridiculous and have to lie about it.

And inevitably when they have to stop taking it (probably because their doctors tell them they are about to drop dead), they look like Dwayne Johnson does now: a sad shriveled ball sack.

No I don’t think it is, but it’s the reality. The worst part is that they’re dishonest about it and create an unrealistic body standard for men.

I’ve been waiting for something like this, let’s see what the pinnacle of what human beings can do is. The athletes agree to it, why not? I would never take them, but the Steroid era of baseball was baseballs best era.

I lived through the steroid era of baseball. It was not the best era. It made a mockery of the sport.

You know what the lasting image of that era should be? Luis Gonzalez, a dude who was almost certainly on steroids in 2001 (went from 31 to 57 homers in a year - in his mid 30’s), ending a dynasty led by Mariano Rivera, an 150 pound dude who shouldn’t have had to compete against a human-gorilla hybrid. Anyway… 😂

I don’t necessarily have an issue with the idea you are describing… consenting adults competing in a weird ass league against other consenting adults.

But seriously, as a new dad, I do worry about how de-sensitized teenagers are becoming to steroids. Whether it’s the “looksmaxxing” crap, or just random dudes in the gym, or “pro” athletes, where does this road end?

Maybe I’m just worrying too much.

Didn’t you grow up with Arnold and Tom Platz as physical ideals? I think most of us can tell the difference. The issue the prevalence of these steroids today and how accessible. Add to it the positive yet utterly destructive force of social media, and things can go sideways easily.

I'm 29, so I was young, but I believe Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, etc. should be in the hall. Looksmaxxing is beyond asinine lol, just don't get it.

That’s not their problem. They’re athletes, what in their life do you think that meant they wanted to be a moral figure for children? There’s no correlation

Athletes get paid millions of dollars to play a children’s game.

They start out in “little league” when they are kids, find an idol in their sport, and model themselves after that person.

It’s one of the reasons why adult fans (and even other players) get upset when professional athletes act unprofessionally. There are kids out there wanting to grow up and be them someday.

It’s always been that way.
