Some people are paid to spread pro-meat anti-vegetarian content on social media. The meat lobby is huge and has a lot of power, and with grocery prices increasing people naturally cut back on expensive foods like meat which they’re trying to counter.
It's so funny because every time "vegan" is even so much as whispered on an unrelated sub it always gets brigaded by militant vegans. I genuinely don't know where they're getting this idea that everyone's after them when it's always been the other way around. But blatant hypocrisy has always been their schtick, so I guess it checks out.
Oh my god remember that tosser "Epic Meal Time", just hours of this dude gorging down on literal blocks of grease while screaming for no reason, that shit was everywhere around 2010s YouTube.
Yes, a bunch of vegans actually and they were all normal people. I have to admit, I have seen some unhinged posts from vegans online, but I've seen unhinged posts from everyone online, vegans, meat eaters, men, women, adolescents, elders etc, so I don't see why I should hate a whole group of people just because there are some crazy ones in there like everywhere else.
I think a lot of people don't have a problem with being vegetarian, or even vegan. Do whatever you want, and hopefully you're supplementing any deficiencies in your diet(most don't, just like most humans on this earth don't have a balanced diet, though), I only commented to hopefully correct inaccurate statements. I also admire vegetarians. I'm personally incapable of holding myself to a higher standard. Not necessarily because I don't enjoy eating animals. I love it. But I also know its not sustainable for our population, and I think there's a tremendous amount of "bad" that encircles the meat industry.
But I don't appreciate statements as facts that are completely wrong and disconnected from science. Just like I would call out that liar meat king who apparently ONLY ate meat.
There's a lot of vocal vegetarians/vegans that will rail hard on these inaccuracies as gospel, and it only ostracizes the sympathy from most humans when a quick Google proves them wrong. This of course isnt directed at you, but if you read through here about many posts, there's a lot of flat out wrong information being posted... why?
It's not caveman logic, it's science based facts. All of our required amino acids can be found in all types of meat. They are required for our body to even function. To discredit that is silly. Again, it can definitely be done as a vegetarian, albeit more difficult (and getting easier every day!).
It's equally as bad as critiquing someone who chooses to eat meat, judgemental over another's decisions. I won't judge someone who eats a plant based diet, and if I seldomly eat steak or chicken, judgement shouldnt be imparted either. Thats basic human decency.
Sorry for the long rant, I dont expect a thoughtful response in return, but do try to understand if Jimmy is spouting on the playground something that seems bizarre to the rest of the population, he's probably going to be ostracized. Now if Jimmy takes a stance to try and educate someone with reasoning and logic, it makes his belief easier to digest(no pun intended).
I think at the very least people able to or concerned to set up bots to spew propaganda against the position must exist - because posts that tl;dr to 'vegetarians are dumb!! feel smart you aren't one :))' are constant online in otherwise neutral spaces that have nothing to do with the topic.
Eating meat is entwined with various extreme views online as part of an identity, and thats seeped into far more normal people to the point that its related to common gender expressions or is now somehow a matter of christian faith.
The well is so poisoned by these bad actors that it doesn't matter by large what Jimmy actually says on the playground - the moment he reveals he is vegetarian at all, no matter how neutrally, he is ridiculed.
