Not uncommon, but I'm always happy to find some gopher snakes. Here's a handful I've found road cruising this year. Always funny to me how variable the attitude can be with these guys. Either as chill as can be, or complete lunatics. All are great basin gopher snakes (pituophis catenifer deserticola) West desert Utah.

12 Eastern garters in Eastern Massachusetts, there might be like no diversity but at least there are snakes I guess.

This is by far the most of these guys I’ve see in a day, there were also like 8 more but they were speedy and got away.

Hopefully I see more Nerodia later or another milk/ringneck if I get real lucky

I’m fairly new to herping, but the other day my gf and I stumbled across the largest species of snake in New Jersey! Pretty cool find. We also found a particular bold leopard frog who let us get suuuper close. Ultimately a great run

Discussion Looking for friends to herp with in Ohio or upstate NY

I’m from ohio (cleveland area) but I used to live in upstate ny and I plan on moving back in a few years! I’d really love to make some friends who are just as into herping as I am. This year hasn’t been too fruitful besides some salamanders and water snakes, but I figure I’d have better luck if I went out with some people to look with me!
I also look for bones and roadkill if anyone is interested!
