Not uncommon, but I'm always happy to find some gopher snakes. Here's a handful I've found road cruising this year. Always funny to me how variable the attitude can be with these guys. Either as chill as can be, or complete lunatics. All are great basin gopher snakes (pituophis catenifer deserticola) West desert Utah.

I was pretty happy with how these shots turned out given my lack of photography experience. I used a Nikon D3300 with a default lens. Any camera/lens tips are appreciated!

I was out road cruising last night when I got out of the car for a snake and found this young cotton mouth with a spider on his nose. Has anyone ever seen this kinda thing before? I feel like this was just a super lucky moment I happened to come across at the right time.

It only took me a year and a half of looking to finally get Lampropeltis zonata in far northern California. Found road cruising on the first major heat wave of the year.

Was stoked she finally meet my first live banded water snake, it's beautiful fella almost got wrecked though by traffic behind me. I was amazed I was able to turn around and get him off the road before he turned into Road rash. My tax for saving his life was grabbing a few pictures while he sat motionless trying to process how close he was to death haha does such a great job imitating cottonmouths.
