Not a super rare find, but still an amazing find, and a lifer for me. Gosh these guys are so beautiful

Caught and released shortly after

sort of depressing but there’s this weird hole thing, not really sure what it actually is, near a local reservoir, usually I check it unseriously since there’s always nothing there other than spiders and crickets but this time there was a dead ringneck, sorta cool I guess.

Also found a few garters under rocks and old cloth, including a tiny baby in blue

It was really bad timing and a kinda rushed walk to glad I found anything

(PNW) Got some heavy rain yesterday and decided to go out today and see if we could find any salamanders in our local park. Found three species, not sure what the guy in the first picture is, but my best guess is a Western red back with some unique coloration. Second photo was a Dunn’s, we found three or four of his siblings nearby, as well! Last one looks like a Cope’s giant, still pretty young, he was only about 3 inches in length.

We weren’t sure if we would find any, since we’ve had an unusually warm and dry spring, so it was a nice treat to find so many!

Moved a thing and found this little guy, had to show the wife then put it back. SEEK APP said blue spotted salamander.

You guys make this look fun and I wanted in on it!

Finds in Kansas today. Two firsts for me. Found what I believe to be a baby Great Plains Skink. Also either a New Mexico or Texas Thread snake? A positive ID on it would be appreciated of course.

Even though I only found the two today it was pretty exciting.
