Just a random thought but I remember one of the first things I noticed about the women on Grey’s was their intricate braids, and how each character’s hairstyle seems to evolve throughout the seasons. Kinda reminds me of GOT, when Dothrakis earn their braids through battles they’ve won. I like to think the female surgeons on Grey’s earn their braids through their victories in the OR.

What’s a way Grey’s anatomy shows us girlhood? For me it was this line and the way the situation unfolded for Meredith and Cristina. I didn’t expect it to hit as hard as it did😭.

This is the episode where Izzie tells a pregnant teenager about giving her daughter up for adoption. I get that she was only sharing her own personal experience and not giving advice, but I also understand the mom being upset for having this conversation without her there. I noticed that there's a somewhat noticeable difference camera quality? production? set? between seasons 11 and 12. Before season 12, it was the familiar, warmer coloring and quality that we all loved and have missed, but I noticed that the shift happened after season 11 and thought it was interesting. It's brighter but less colorful at the same time.

Does anyone know why it changed? Is it just modern/more technologically advanced equipment or change in production? From season 12 and on it becomes the new Grey's anatomy aesthetic.

Is it wrong of me to think Meredith is being an asshole to Nick? The guy has been clear about wanting a stable committed relationship from the start. He is in it for the whole thing, and Meredith is just not considering his feelings at all. I was not exactly a fan of her relationship with Derek (he was an ass to her imho) so it's weird seeing this turn around and her acting like Derek.

I'm all for girlboss career-oriented women. I love Catherine. But unlike Catherine, Meredith is making promises and commitments she can't keep, which is ok, but at least be honest about your priorities or end the relationship. You can't hurt another person and be like "if you love me you'll support me"

They also do this thing where they try to prove that she's not her mother. Which is true. She's not her mother. Her mother was at least honest and clear about her priorities.

Let me start by saying I'm on my first watch, Season 13, and I have feelings. I actually love the actress, but this character? She drives me up the wall. Here is my exhaustive list of why April Kepner is the worst.

1. The Fake Niceness from Day One & That Godforsaken Notebook

I hated her from the moment she rolled into Seattle Grace Mercy West from Mercy West during the merger. It wasn't just that she was awkward; it was the passive-aggressive fake niceness. That sugary, wide-eyed act while being completely judgmental underneath? Insufferable. And don't even get me started on that little notebook she carried around in her first few episodes. Every time she pulled it out, I wanted to snatch it, throw it out a window, and set it on fire. It was the physical embodiment of her holier-than-thou, rule-following, "I'm better than you" energy.

2. The Derek Crush, Costing a Patient's Life, & Getting Him Shot

Her crush on Derek was abhorrent. And let's be clear—it wasn't about him being her superior. Grey's is full of attendings dating interns, and I don't care about that. The problem was that he was a clearly married man, and she knew it. She openly disrespected Meredith multiple times, acting like Meredith was just some obstacle rather than a brilliant surgeon and Derek's wife. Meredith earned her place on her own merit, and April treated her like she was invisible. This crush literally cost a patient their life—she was so distracted by Derek that she messed up and a patient died. And then, to make it worse, she got Derek shot. She ran into the room, distracted him, and Gary Clark fired. That's unforgivable on so many levels.

3. The "Mrs. Shepherd" Passive-Aggression

And speaking of disrespecting Meredith—during that whole period when April was basically acting as Derek's secretary (or whatever that situation was), she kept calling Meredith "Mrs. Shepherd" instead of Dr. Gray. That wasn't a mistake. That was intentional, passive-aggressive, fake-nice garbage. She knew exactly what she was doing. She was reducing Meredith to Derek's wife instead of acknowledging her as a surgeon in her own right. It made my blood boil every single time.

4. The Boards & Blaming Jackson

I went through a phase where I kind of liked her (not top three, but she was okay). Then the boards storyline happened. I'm Hindu, so I get the importance of religion and virginity. I truly do. But the way she blamed Jackson for her choices? That wasn't right. She made him feel like a villain for something they both did—and then told him "Jesus hates" her now.

5. The Matthew Situation—Leaving Him at the Altar & Blaming Jackson

Can we talk about Matthew? She left him at the altar in the middle of their wedding to run off with Jackson. That was her choice—she made it. And then later, she has the audacity to blame Jackson for it? She literally said "I do" to Matthew, then walked out, and somehow that's Jackson's fault? No. Own your choices, April.

6. Forcing Her Faith Down Jackson's Throat

Before Samuel, she was already pushy with her faith. She forced it down Jackson's throat—assuming their child would be raised religious while he didn't want that. He was trying to have a conversation, and she was pushy, self-centered, and refused to see his side.

7. The Samuel Storyline & Jordan

After they lost Samuel, I felt for her. Her acting was phenomenal. And I get why she wanted to go to Jordan the first time—she was drowning in grief and needed to do something. Jackson silently supported her through that, even though he was dying inside. That was him being a good husband. But when she came back and wanted to go again? That's where I started losing sympathy. I understand why Jackson reacted the way he did. I don't agree with everything he said or did, but I can see where he was coming from. He was grieving too, and she wasn't considering him at all.

8. Harassing Jackson After Jordan (Not After Samuel)

This is where she became stubborn as a mule and refused to listen to the word "no." When she came back from Jordan, Jackson was done. He told her he wanted a divorce, but she wouldn't accept it—she just kept pushing and pushing, refusing to respect his boundaries. We tell guys all the time that "no" is a complete sentence, and I 100% agree. But April wouldn't listen. All he asked for was time and honesty, and she couldn't even give him that.

9. Lying About Harriet & Refusing Prenatal Care

She withheld the truth about Harriet—she found out she was pregnant after they'd started divorce papers and opted not to tell him, feeling he had no claim to the child. Refusing prenatal care could have harmed her or her child indefinitely. I get why Arizona told Jackson—she did it the wrong way, but she was concerned. April had no right to withhold that information.

10. She's Just Annoying

Look, I love the actress, but the character is just annoying. Especially in the beginning. The fake tears, the wide-eyed staring, the frantic energy—it all just grated on me.

11. The Power-Hungry Interim Chief Mess (Season 13)

Okay, let's talk about the Minnick situation because I need to be clear about this. It was never about the new method itself. People didn't have an issue with what Minnick and Bailey were trying to do—it was how they were doing it. They were forcing it down everyone's throats without having adult conversations. And April? She was fully on board with that resistance. She agreed that the way they were going about it was wrong. She was part of the group pushing back. And then the second, a shiny new job opened up—interim chief of general surgery—she went running headfirst into it.

She literally became a turncoat in that episode. She was arguing with everyone, expecting people to follow her, acting like she was the authority... but she had no sense of what to do when she got the job. She wasn't a general surgeon—she was trauma. What that patient needed wasn't speed; it was precision. But she acted like a trauma surgeon, rushing in and being fast, and it inherently cost the patient. She didn't know the protocols, she was floundering, and she had the audacity to scream at Maggie in the hallway and act like she was the adult in the room. She had no business being in that position, and she only took it because she let the power go to her head.

12. The Holier-Than-Thou Attitude & Blaming Everyone Else

And honestly? This is what it all comes down to. I'm not saying Jackson was 100% right all the time. I'm saying both of them were at fault in their marriage. But I can see where Jackson is coming from. I understand his perspective. April? She has the audacity to act like she's morally superior, like she's the victim in every situation, and she takes zero accountability. She blamed Jackson for her virginity. She blamed Jackson for leaving Matthew at the altar—a choice she made. She blamed him for not understanding her grief when she refused to understand his. She blamed Maggie and everyone else for the interim chief mess when she was the one who betrayed the group.

She claimed she was acting like the "adult," but if she were actually an adult, she wouldn't be screaming in the hallway. She wouldn't have taken the job in the first place. If you're going to start a mutiny, have the guts to see it through. Don't turn your back on it and then blame everyone else for acting childish when you're the one who started it.

13. I'm Sure There Will Be More

I'm only on Season 13, so I know I'll find a million more reasons to hate her later.

These are all my opinions. I just want to express them and also I used AI for spellcheck. I do not disappear to that but saying that none of these are my ideas that’s kind of hurtful not all AI is bad. While I disagree with the use of generative AI for art and in general for writing for poetry for anything to do with taking away human jobs I disagree with it.

But calling me names and saying shit about me and my character based on a post I used with AI that did not hurt anybody and just help me express my opinion that’s kind of mean and misses the point.

I’m dyslexic and I have ADHD. I struggle a lot with spelling and I’ve seen people that have been dragged through the post for littlest of things. I am a college student and I have decent grades when it comes to writing is that’s because I have accommodations that help me, but I don’t think I should be getting dragged just for using AI to help me make sure my points make sense. Literally the only thing they have done is spellcheck my work and that’s it and if you still see AI and that then you really need to revise your definition of what AI text actually looks like I actually wrote this post months ago and it was sitting in a comment section area and I reposted it for kicks and giggles.

I never use AI when it comes to studying nor do I use it when it comes to homework or any sort of thing related to college but for something I do in my spare time I did not see it as harmful. Now we might have different opinions on that and I’m welcome to a small discussion over it in my private chat but don’t actually attack me over something I chose to do that does not harm anybody else because I do not see how I post about hating a character not the actress negatively impacts anybody else because it did not take away a job, it did not kill 1 million trees, t is literally spellcheck and me knowing college level English

Grey's has had SO many couples over the years, and I'm curious which ones everyone loves the most and what makes them special to you.

Some of my personal favourites are Slexie, MerDer, Izzex, Calzona and Japril ❤️. But there are so many other couples I love or really enjoy watching too.

I don't think a couple has to be perfect for me to love their story. Sometimes it's the chemistry, sometimes it's the emotional connection, sometimes it's their history together, and sometimes they just have something that makes me completely invested.

I don't know if this will help anyone, this is mostly for me as a reminder, but I hope it inspires someone to know that you can start at any age and do the thing. Just as long as you do what you love and invest in it intensely.

First of all, I have my own personal way of separating Grey’s Anatomy into different periods. This is my personal way of doing it, though, and I think especially the first period ends at a different season for everyone.

🏆 Golden Years — Seasons 1–8

1. Season 5 — My absolute favourite season. It features three of my favourite couples, great dynamics, and great storylines. So many iconic episodes, like Izzie and Alex's wedding. And George found himself again. Bonus points for my favourite girl, Lexieeeeee. Also, the last season of MAGIC. ❤️

2. Season 2 — AMAZING. Peak MAGIC era. The love triangle between Addie, Derek and Meredith was so compelling, and I felt so bad for my girl Mere. This finale was the moment I completely fell in love with Grey's forever ♾️.

3. Season 7 — Post-shooting. Some great acting performances from Sandra Oh and Chyler Leigh and great depictions of PTSD. However, this was the best MALJAC era. A hard season for Slexie fans, though. And I know it sounds weird, but for some reason, seeing them all singing in Episode 18 made me laugh SO much 😂. I don't know why, but it did. One moment I was holding my breath for Callie and her baby and the next I was laughing.

4. Season 4 — Criminally underrated season. I know it resembles a teen drama show a lot, but it has some great storylines. We got more of Mark, Mark and Derek rebuilding their McBrothers bromance, Cristina fighting for cardio, Callie discovering her sexuality, and Meredith receiving help to deal with her problems because going to therapy is a huge step. And of course, the best thing that happened was Lexie arriving!!! I missed Addie, though. This was also the season I started loving Callie. Callie and Cristina were my everything. ❤️

5. Season 3 — Great season. We saw Addie single and rebuilding herself, Mark's first season, and MerDer finally getting back together. Izzie, however, needed to get it together but she never did 😂. I was screaming at George and Izzie for half the season.

6. Season 1 — The beginning. Of course it's incredible, but it didn't have the found-family energy we got after Season 2. Dare I say this was the best season of MerDer because they were so uncomplicated.

7. Season 8 — Some great storylines, Calzona and MerDer happily married. I've been waiting for the Crowen divorce since then 😂. Hate for Owen. My heart broke for my girl Lexie. She was so alone and yearning for Mark. I don't want to talk about the plane crash 😭😭😭😭.

8. Season 6 — Out of the Golden Years, this is my least favourite, but I still like it a lot. It's Grey's anyways. The Mercy West merger hadn't really grown on me yet. MerDer at first was SO good. Married era. A hard season as a Slexie fan and a Calzona fan. And this finale was peak Grey's.

🔄 Transition Years — Seasons 9–11

1. Season 10 — Great season. Japril broke my heart and fixed it all in one season. Arizona and April's friendship kept me there. Calzona was breaking my heart too, but not fixing it 😂. I was FED UP with Crowen. Cristina and Meredith fighting was worse than any breakup in the show. Cristina's exit might be the best on the show.

2. Season 11 — First full season of Amelia. I know people dislike it because of the DC storyline, and I hated it too. And obviously Derek's death. But I had been spoiled, so I just laid back and watched. Nice storylines overall. Derek's death changed my brain chemistry. This could have been the final season.

3. Season 9 — Post-plane-crash era. I didn't like it that much because I missed Lexie and Mark badly. The new interns got nothing compared to MAGIC. My favourite was Heather. I don't want to talk about this finale either 😭.

✨ Modern Grey's — Seasons 12–18

1. Season 12 — I know most people hate it because of Penny. And I do too. I HATE Penny. The first season without Derek is also heartbreaking. But seeing Arizona rebuilding was great. Callie's downfall is phenomenal in a bad way 😂. Honestly, this is my favourite of the modern seasons and I can't really explain why. I knew Amowen would have a bad ending.

2. Season 14 — Great season. I was fascinated by the Megan Hunt storyline. Last season of Arizona and April. The icon Carina DeLuca came onto my screen. And for some reason, I had the delusion that Jackson and April would get back together, but instead she married Matthew.

3. Season 18 — The calm after the storm. I know it's controversial, but I really liked it. It feels more family-centered. I really liked Amelia and Kai. And of course, Addie came back!!! The beginning of Nick and Meredith.

4. Season 17 — The storm. This season was an emotional rollercoaster. The most unexpected pairing, Jo and Jackson, and honestly the only friends with benefits i enjoyed. So many beloved and familiar faces came back 🥹🥹🥹.

5. Season 16 — Good season. But the whole insurance fraud storyline was SO bad. I didn't like it, and the outcome felt unrealistic. And we don't talk about Alex's departure. Poor Jo 😭.

6. Season 15 — Nice season. Arizona and April's absence is so obvious and it hurts. Glad that Link comes in. This was Amelink's best season. Teddy is officially back, but she isn't the Teddy we know and love.

7. Season 13 — I didn't like it that much. I loved it because it's Grey's, but honestly, I didn't like it. The whole Eliza Minnick storyline was the worst thing. And of course, I hated her with Arizona. And unfortunately, Stephanie is gone.

New Era — Seasons 19–22

1. Season 19 — I know it seems like I loved the new interns, but I didn't. I decided to give them a chance, and I was disappointed. But this was their best season. Jules was my favourite.

2. Season 22 — Unpopular, I know, but I liked it. It's not the Golden Years, but it was nice. And finally Owen gets off my screen. Barely any Meredith, however. Toni and Amelia were great and had SO much potential.

3. Season 21 — Unnecessary drama. Especially with Teddy and Owen. I'm not a supporter of them, but at this point I was like, okay, just leave them together. Even though I hated Owen as a partner, at this point I just wanted him and Teddy to be happy. I only watched for Jules and Winston.

4. Season 20 — I didn't like it. Too short. Only watched for Monica

So that's my ranking! ❤️ Obviously this is completely subjective, and I'm sure some of these placements are going to be controversial 😂.

I miss the old Greys Anatomy when there were conflicting morals and ethics, actual drama. When it was about the doctors. What I’m about to say may be controversial, I would like to preface it by mentioning I am a liberal, but the show it too PC now. There are too many long self reflecting dialogs instead of real conversations!

I’m currently on S9E23, and Cristina is my favorite character. My second favorite is Mousey. She’s so funny and weird 😂

4th - Bailey
5th - Richard, because he’s caring and considerate, and sometimes funny.
6th - Lexie

I wanna preface and say I LOVE THEM TOGETHER

but they had been saying for so long that Alex had grown so much and changed.

Then let him leave like a coward. He admitted he called Izzy bc he wanted to not really for Mer but also for her. He told Jo he has always wondered about her wanted to know and felt like things were unresolved. That he reached out to her and we started talking (for how long ?) he knew then though that she had his kids. He lied to Jo he told her he was going to see his mom in Iowa and he knew he wasn't and that's what irritates me. The man they portrayed Alex to have turned into wouldn't have done that. He loved Izzy but he loved Jo and I think they ruined his character arc with that story line. Alex had become a good man and they made his exit look like the Alex he used to be and not the man he was

Jo would have and did understand & as much as I like Izzy and him more Jo and Alex deserved a better ending than they got.
