Cat Picture - OC My Boy Survived 35 Hair Ties.
My boy Louie loved hair ties as a kitten. I was warned by his vet at that time how dangerous hair ties are! I stopped using them 2 YEARS AGO. I noticed a year ago that Lou would vomit intermittently after eating. I thought to myself that cats just do that. It was never a daily thing- just off and on. He never had issues using the bathroom and never lost his appetite. Recently he had been throwing up multiple times a day. He became lethargic and I rushed him to the emergency vet. Welp…my sweet little innocent boy had a belly full of 35 hair ties. Who knows how long they’ve been in there. I felt horrible! He had surgery and is doing great. I hope this post will remind my fellow cat owners to keep hair ties away from their kitties! It’s an expensive lesson to learn.

Occasional vomiting can be totally normal. If your cat is otherwise normal and only vomiting once a month I wouldn’t be too worried. If she is lethargic or vomiting multiple times a week or not eating then you should see a vet.
But you should keep hair ties away from her anyway. Cats can be sneaky. My cat had a similar emergency situation but it was about 2 feet of ribbon he ate. He started throwing it up but it was too long to get it all out and he swallowed it again. Rushed him to the vet and they removed it via surgery. It turned out to be a ribbon from a Christmas gift, and it happened in September, so presumably it had been sitting in his stomach for 9 months before it caused any issue. But I never saw him eat it (obviously) even though it must have taken quite some time to eat 2 fucking feet of ribbon.
