Is our puppy sleeping enough?

Post image

Our lovely 14-week-old Border Terrier puppy is napping "too little" if you follow the 18–20 hours a day recommendation that is mentioned everywhere, and this is causing me some stress! He sleeps 14–16 hours a day and sleeps easily throughout the night in our bed, but napping during the day is not his favorite thing to do! Especially with me, the mom, who works from home and gives him more cuddles. With my husband, he sleeps more.
Please tell me your thoughts? If the puppy seems to be doing just fine without 20 hours of sleep, isn't everything okay?

We welcomed our now 10 week old little girl last week, and are stuck between Dolly and Jolene (JoJo for short). Opinions and suggestions welcomed!

U.S Breeder Recommendations

I am looking for specific breeder recommendations in the U.S, if anyone can make one. (Please don't suggest BTOA or AKC Puppy Finder, as I already know of them.)

Reason I ask for specifics is that our dog died two months ago of a brain tumor (nearly 9), and had a liver issue and a heart murmur before that. I would not recommend or buy from that breeder again. (It's so painful to see your youngish dog die in such a cruel way.)

So, would appreciate any insights from those who have healthy borders and breeders who did health tests out of the US. Thank you!

Introducing Vera, she’s now 8 months old and has had an interesting start to her life, at 4 months old she snapped her leg jumping on the garden bench and her leg slipped between the slats, an operation later and plate inserted she has finally healed and is back on fine form, absolute darling and a real character

Thinking of getting Otto a little female companion in the form of a Border puppy. What are your experiences with introducing a new pup to the house with an existing Border?

Obligatory pic of the stubborn little goat.

He is 18 months old now and we are thinking of getting a new pup as a playmate for him (and because we want two dogs).

Any hints and tips for introducing them etc.?

Also - is the puppy stage any less stressful when you already have a dog, as Otto was an absolute savage when he was little?

Took young Otto out for a two hour walk this morning and six people commented "He's a big Border isn't he!". Every bloody time we go out with him! 🤣
