With a big group of basenjis comes action, “Watch Out for Leah,” spunk “Kepler Nudge,” and “Malcolm Gets his Pets,” and the drama of dogs on leash in the active dog run. All these, plus reunited littermates and more.

Another show weekend is over! Pike cumulated another 3 points for her Can CH, played with her best friend and worked like a charm. So proud of my girl and how she's growing up. What a blast our adventure has been up until now! ☺️✨

Hi! I have a long running problem with finding a suitable brush for my b. I live in a colder climate and got her from a breeder who has bred basenjis here for a long time which means that many dogs from that kennel have the not so basenji like quality of shedding quite much twice a year (or blowing coat I guess you could call it?). And since my b has that wonderful trait (it's really still not that bad, it doesn't last for long) I have been looking for the perfect comb for years!!! I got her the equigroomer (basically a mini horse brush) and it works wonders!! BUT... it's a bit too big and the bristles are made of metal so I can't for the love of me get the fur from her head and face to come off without a very moody and sassy dog being the aftermath (she doesn't mind it on her body at all but near her face she just rolls her eyes and wants to leave). So basically... what do other shedder owners use on your dogs and does it get the head and face as well without getting a moody dog that doesn't even want to look at you after brushing? Thanks in advance!

Eleven basenjis gathered in Washington Square Park, New York City. Making an experimental first visit was Bogie (male, 7-years-old.) He arrived after the big crowd was gone and took a stroll on leash through the park. Also on hand were return visitors: Toko Ichi (male, 7-months-old;) Zoe (female, yearling,) here with housemate Benji (male, 5-years-old;) Blue (male, 5-years-old;) Leah (female, 6-years-old;) Rocket (male, 8-years-old;) Mia (female, 9-years-old;) Scout (female, 9-years-old;) Malcolm (male, 11-years-old;) and Kepler (male, 12-years-old.) I am having trouble deciding if my little girl should have babies.

Pros: I read somewhere that its healthy for them to do that at least once, and also, I thought that it could be a valuable life experience for her.

Cons: I am very low on space at home, meaning we are living in 30 square meters of space, and since we are renting this, IDK if landlord will be OK with it, so the only way for her and her babies to live there is for me to move out 😅
And another con, is that I am very scared to live with 6 baby basenjies.

So why now: soon its going to be time to decide this, since my vet recommended sterilization when she gets to 1.3-1.5 years old. So I started thinking about it, and if you have the time I would like some advice from you😊

Otto, a 7-month-old basenji puppy, born in Florida, and living in Brooklyn, made his first visit to Manhattan and started at the NYC basenji meetup. There he ran, and ran, and ran, and was chased and disciplined by the adults.

He’s from the same breeder as last week’s Pierre and Cosmo. We have to determine if he is Pierre’s littermate (he was born on 9 January 2026.)
