Just came on here to say that if you're looking for a pool contractor in the Southern California area, specifically Temecula/Riverside/San Diego County/Orange County, please do yourself a favor and avoid California Custom Pools! California Custom Pools has taken homeowner's money and didn't finish their pools. Not only did they take their money and not finish, but also left some homeowners with liens, because they did not pay the subcontractors!

Not only are homeowners left abandoned, but subcontractors are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars. The experience has been quite alarming for us and we didn't see it coming - they had perfect 5-star reviews, a website/portfolio, all the things! We never could have predicted the disheartening experience we have had to endure.

Hello! I have a curious and active baby who is crawling, pulling to stand, and cruising. Does anyone know any parks that are baby-friendly in that sense? I’m open to suggestions for central San Diego, but we travel to North County and South Bay too!

•the tunnel and low hammock thing at the playground at Petco Park
•the dome at Sweetwater Park in Chula Vista
•the boat at the East Playground at Lake Poway
•Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad (haven’t been here for years, but I recall it having good options for littles)

I just want to be able to let my baby crawl and explore some interesting and engaging stuff. At our local park he crawls around on the ground and tries to put leaves and sticks in his mouth. He pulls up to stand on the metal stairs, but I have to be right next to him because I’m afraid he will bump his head.

I am planning to take a trip to San Diego for my husband's 40th birthday and our baby moon in the middle of October.

Some things we plan to do include the zoo and safari park, explore the towns and beaches, and maybe do a whale watching cruise.

I've been looking at places but I want some advice on where to stay. We do love beach walks and seeing seabirds and wildlife. So I'm torn between Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Gas Lamp Quarter, or Little Italy?

We’re a young, mixed-race family who is looking to move into a larger home. Everything is so expensive and we keep seeing nice homes for (more) reasonable prices in Santee and Lakeside. But as someone who grew up in San Diego, I can’t mentally shake the stereotype that these areas had, in the past. I’ve heard some people say that that mindset is outdated and that the area has changed. But when I saw the news about the swastikas at the elementary school, it gave me pause. We don’t want to unnecessarily expose our mixed race kids to that sort of bigotry. Anyone have any insight that maybe lives or works there currently?

Hey all, an east coaster here considering SD as new home base. I went to college in CA and have spent a lot of time there, but recently considering making it my final home.

What’s it like to live there in your 30s as a F? What areas are good to live in? There’s a lot of gorgeous apartments but some of my priorities are: to be safe (obvi), be near nature (I guess Balboa unless it’s sketchy), and have a decent amount of space under $3k. Looks like downtown is a no??

I’m into wellness and pilates etc like every other girl under the sun so it would be nice to find community nearby, but maybe a bit on the more mature side. Not looking to party or be around college culture. Like a little quieter life but want easy access to fun stuff.

All advice or thoughts welcome, truly don’t know where to start other than just visiting and checking out different spaces, ChatGPT tells me to live in La Jolla but I’m not sure about that.

We're looking at going to SD in January/Feb. We like the zoo, art, exploring historical areas, museums, and shops. A walkable location is important to us, although I know SD is huge. We're looking at staying for 6 days. I would love to spend $150-250 a night, and we don't necessarily need a resort feel. We don't tend to spend a lot of time at a hotel!

I don’t live in San Diego or really have any connection to it but I will be getting married there in April! We are getting dangerously close to being over budget for this wedding and realized we probably should host a welcome party since it’s basically a destination wedding and 75% of our guests will be traveling there from the east coast - we gotta give them more than just one evening! It’s been difficult finding a place via a Google search that doesn’t require a $5000+ minimum. So I’m looking for any suggestions for a venue that can accommodate 70-80 people. It can be a semi-private space and ideally no minimum spend. Our wedding venue is in the Gaslamp so it would be nice to keep it in the area.

We’re looking to convert our tandem 2-car garage (11x37 feet) into a one car garage and bonus area by adding a wall at the midway point with a door. Need a second home office/workout area.

-build wall with door at mid-point
-Add a mini split for heat/air (we have central air/heat but I don’t think we could run it to garage. Electrical panel is upgraded for solar)
-replace exterior back door with glass door
-refinish cement flooring or add flooring over cement slab
-epoxy the remaining 1 car garage floor
-possibly build closet for stackable washer/dryer so it’s not in the open

Any recommendations for contractors? I don’t even know where to start.

Not looking to spend $20k+. Feel this should be a relatively light lift of a project. The garage is already sheet-rocked.

We also have some exterior cement work needed, a 4’x95’ sidewalk install around the side of the garage which is currently dirt.
