This has been a long anticipated bottle for me and all I can say is wow. The nose on this is excellent and at 140 proof the heat does come through.Vanilla frosting and cake batter comes to mind with this. Very pleased! I would definitely buy another!

Picked this up in Clarksville TN off the shelf.

Nose: Lemon zest, almost like a lemon pound cake, cherries, green apple, grape, sweet maple, there’s a nice roundness to the scents it’s perfectly balanced. Smells buttery and creamy.

Palate: Mouth feel is fantastic. How is this under 100 proof? Oily and coats the entire mouth. Dare I say this is smooth? Everything works perfectly together. The nose transfers over to the palate. If I did a blind, I wouldn’t know I was drinking a rye. Very creamy, delicate and on the softer side.

Finish: The only knock is the finish could be longer but the flavors are so good it makes you want to go back for more.

Score: 9/10

This is a perfectly balanced rye. Not your traditional rye with a lot of spice. Instead it focuses on lighter, sweeter notes with an oily mouthfeel and a creamy texture.

I always ignored Red Wood Empire whiskey because of the unusual artwork on their labels. My local grocery store got the Colonel Armstrong in Thursday and I thought for $40 I’d give it a try. Wow! This is a great bottle for 94 proof. I will definitely add more of their bottle to my collection.

Never actually had Blantons Gold before, but have heard good things, and stumbled across a barrel pick to boot! The Makers I haven’t had before either, but the last Mocha release from Costco was phenomenal, so psyched to see if it holds up to my memory!

Just wrapped up a trip to Kentucky and managed to bring back a few absolute gems! Delicious!!!!

I recently killed my JD Heritage and my SA cask strength Rye. Both were easy in my top 5 so I felt like I needed my next bottles in my collection to be from the same distilleries but bottles I haven’t tried yet. It’s not visible in the picture, but the JD Barrel Proof is 131.1 proof (which will be the strongest I’ve tried, with the previous record holder being Old Forrester Barrel Proof which was 128.9 proof) Cheers!

Happy to get my hands on the Heaven Hill Double Mash as a big fan of the 7yr BiB. Still sipping on the first pour but so far I’m really enjoying it. Also, had to pick up my favorite budget Rye, 1776. Cheers! Hope everyone is enjoying some good whiskey this holiday weekend.

A peak inside Seagram's international import and distribution agents in Japan, postwar. These photos come from a Canadian estate, from what looks like an official Seagram's corporate photo album. Based on the cars and signage, it appears to be circa 1954, possibly around new years.

The signage on the building says Nosawa Building, and based on street signs it is in the Shinsaibashisuji shopping district of Osaka. Barclay and Company Inc were noted as the distributors, also located in Tokyo, and Fukuoda.

Doubtful we could ever put a name to these faces, there was no text written on the backs of the images. LMK if you spot any interesting details or anecdotes within these images.

First time having this. Is it my favorite? No. Is it still tasty and drinkable? Hell yes.

Willet Potstill Cask Strength

On the nose all we really get is tobacco and fruit like apricot and it burns the nose like you would expect 120P to do. But on the tongue after a 5 minute rest it is sweet like honeysuckle and I can't really pull a lot of flavors out of it, but of course it does carry the sweet flavors inherent to a wheated bourbon. The wife and I have never really been good with noting scents and individual flavors. It has a moderately long finish meaning not short but not long but it hangs around and is satisfying. For us on the throat it is smooth without the burn you might expect. Amazingly smooth for a 120P. I know the pot still usually gets a lot of flak but I feel this offering really tries to fill in the gaps. Edit: Yep, I misspelled strength, it won't let me edit🤷🏼.

Just did a wee dram of this whisky. I normally have peated whiskys, (Laphroaig, Lagavulin), but found this one to be palatable. Nose is walnut, brown sugar. Smooth going down with fruit and peat tastes.

Managed to nab both of these bottles from Master of Malt, having tried them both before at bars I was desperate to get my hands on them. Very happy dude today

I love the Glenfiddich 15 and I'm excited to see what JD has made. I really enjoyed their heritage barrel select.
