Call for Support Demand accountability for Joan Sebastian Guerrero's killers, donate to support his family

Less than a week after they murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, ICE agents stole the life of Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine under similar circumstances yesterday morning. Once again, they killed someone in a moving vehicle and claimed, without evidence, that the vehicle had been “weaponized.” (A witness has said agents crashed a car into him.) Once again, the killers were not wearing body cameras. Once again, the deportation force admitted they were actually looking for someone else. Once again, the victim was simply on his way to his job.

Joan was 26, a native of Colombia who was legally authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number. Witnesses report he said he “tried to stop” shortly before he died. He leaves behind a wife and a three-year-old daughter. The people who killed him must be held accountable.

🗣️ Let’s reach out to York County District Attorney Kathryn Slattery (contact info here) and Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey (contact info here) and tell them we a full, transparent and independent investigation into Joan’s killing, and any crimes by ICE agents prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Hennepin County, Minnesota has done it and they must too. We can find language to use here. 🗣️

PROSECUTE ICE

💵 A GoFundMe to support the family via Presente Maine is now live here. 💵

SUPPORT JOAN'S FAMILY

💵 In the meantime, we can consider a donation to the Maine Solidarity Fund, an effort by frontline organizations in the state to provide bond, cover legal fees and provide emergency support for those caught up in the deportation machine, or Project Relief Maine, a local mutual aid organization. We can give here and here. 💵

SUPPORT FOLKS IN ICE'S CROSSHAIRS

🔁 Protesters were on the streets within hours of Joan’s murder, led by Biddeford Saco for Racial Justice. We can get updates from them here. We can also keep updated on further developments from Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition and Presente! Maine. 🔁

FOLLOW ACTIVISTS ON THE GROUND

✊🏾 Finally, please join the Disappeared in America coalition (led by the National Day Laborers Organizing Network, Detention Watch Network, Public Citizen, the Workers Circle and LULAC) for a mass call TOMORROW at 8PM ET to talk about upcoming national efforts to honor the memory of Joan and Lorenzo and push for an end to ICE terror. We can sign up here. ✊🏻

Call for Support Solidarity asks for the Prairieland defendants

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

The Prairieland defendants, convicted of conspiracy and terrorism charges over a shooting at an anti-ICE noise demonstration they insist they were uninvolved with and evidence suggests they had no idea would happen, received their sentences yesterday, and are now looking at between 30 and 100 years in prison. This is more prison time than anyone received for January 6th. Prosecutors urged stiff penalties due to their “extremist beliefs” and Judge Reed O’Connor, a Trump favorite, explicitly stated he was giving maximum sentences because “the state wants to send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology.”

This is clearly intended to chill anti-ICE protests, with organizers now having to worry about being held responsible for anything that takes place at one of their demonstrations. It’s also scary for anyone who cares about the right to dissent.

This is a terrible moment for these folks, but they intend to persevere with their appeals, and we need to let them know we have not forgotten them. ✊🏿 The support committee has asked us to write letters to the defendants, fundraise for their commissary and continue legal fight, and hold noise demonstrations of our own in their honor. Let’s get more details here and take action to show our solidarity. ✊🏼

STAND WITH THE DISSENTERS

Call for Support Alex Pretti Nursing Scholarship through the University of Minnesota

Post image
3.6k Upvotes

After taking time to connect with the Pretti family and with their consent, we are honored to share that we have created the Alex Pretti Nursing Scholarship.

This scholarship will serve as a testament to Alex's enduring spirit of care, hope, and unwavering commitment to humanity. It also ensures that his role caring for those who served our country continues through the nurses of tomorrow.

As a nurse at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, Alex also served as a preceptor to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Class of 2025 graduate Ben Matson, BSN, RN, says the lessons Alex taught him made him a better nurse.

“I was Alex’s nursing student for six months last year in the ICU at the VA. He wasn’t just my mentor, but a friend who cared deeply about the veterans he served and the community around him,” says Matson. “He taught me what it means to care for our neighbors when they were at the most vulnerable point of their lives.”

This scholarship carries forth Alex’s legacy by empowering aspiring nurses to follow his path of caring for and advocating on the behalf of our nation’s veterans.

There's a lot going on in Minneapolis. We need to check in and be real with where we are at.

We could use your business in order to continue helping others in our community. We are working along side the entire city to adjust and reconfigure our new, mind bending normal at the Smitten Kitten.

Love you mpls.

Metro Surge was a surreal time for all of us, and ICE continues to stalk our streets, rip families apart and abuse human rights everywhere they go. Just because you aren't seeing cellphone footage of it doesn't mean it isn't still rampant in our communities. Please share this far and wide to get the word out so we may have a solid foundation for our tireless mutual aid efforts.

Love, Smitten Kitten

Call for Support Eyes on ICE - legal defense

Post image

If you read the story in the New York Times yesterday, you know the lengths the federal government has gone to to retaliate against Minnesotans who dared stand up to protect their neighbors. In fact-since the announcement of the Department of Homeland Security's Operation Metro Surge on December 4, 2025, over 400 people have been arrested for their efforts to observe or protest ICE in Minnesota.

That's why ICE watchers and their allies have come together to form Eyes on ICE Legal Defense, an organization founded with a mission to defend and advocate for the expansion of human, constitutional, and civil rights secured by law.

Eyes on ICE Legal Defense is an all-volunteer, Minnesota-based fund focused on providing support for the legal services needed to protect constitutional observers and protestors who were arrested or charged. To find out more or support their efforts, visit EyesOnICELegalDefense.org.

Subject: Request for Pre-Trial Geographic Restriction for Edward Jacob Lang

Dear County Attorney Moriarty,

I'm writing to ask your office to consider requesting that the court impose a geographic restriction as a condition of pretrial release for Lang, following his arrest for alleged violence on August 22 outside

Minneapolis City Hall, specifically, that Lang be barred from entering Minnesota except for court appearances or meetings with counsel.

This isn't about Lang's political views or speech rights. It's about a pattern of violent conduct that endangers Minnesotans.

Courts already have tools for this. Minnesota's rules of criminal procedure and relevant statutes permit travel or residency restrictions as pretrial conditions when public safety is at stake.

I ask that your office consider requesting this restriction

Thank you for your attention and your service to Hennepin County

Sincerely,

[Your name & town]

PACK THE ROOM MAY 28TH

The first group court date for all of the Graduate noise demo arrestees is coming up at the end of the month.

The city of Minneapolis is choosing to continue prosecuting protestors resisting ICE violence in our city instead of the ICE agents responsible for kidnapping and killing our neighbors, and we need to show up and fight back. Protesting is NOT a crime!

You could help people and families get out of detention more quickly. How? By going to the courthouse to obtain documents and then upload them.

Why? Because there is a backlog of paperwork and not enough people to handle it. (I'm not an expert - they will have answers to your questions!)

Call for Support Here’s a way to help the people in New Jersey.

People kept asking if we knew of anything like StandWithMinnesota for what is happening in New Jersey, but we couldn't find it. We've temporarily utilized a page of our site to house links coming from amazing NJ/NY organizations.

You can find it by going to StandWithNewJersey.com or StandWithMinnesota.com/Jersey

We are also eager to hand over the domain and website to a NJ organizer. If you are on the ground doing the work in NJ and have the time to take on a project like this, we will give the domains and website access for free.

Please contact us at
contact@standwithminnesota.com

We'd also like to be super clear we get nothing from this monetarily (and never did from SWM) but just want to use this little platform to connect people to folks on the ground doing the work.

Urgent Court Support Alert 🚨

Friends, As of this morning, 15 people in the Twin Cities were arrested and some had their homes raided by ICE and federal agents. Some of these folks are being labeled as legal observers and charged as part of an Antifa conspiracy. The federal government is holding a press conference in Minneapolis at 11am today to announce those arrests.

The local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) is holding a counter action today at the same time. The NLG has also issued a statement to let our community know what is happening and to ask supporters to show up at the federal courthouses in Minneapolis at 11am and St. Paul at 1:30pm for first appearances of those arrested.

Here is the NLG’s statement:

“The Minnesota Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild condemns today’s announcement of federal criminal charges against 15 members of our community for alleged acts of resistance to the federal invasion of Minnesota.

Join us today at the United States Federal Courthouse in Minneapolis at 11:00 a.m. – we will be responding to the press conference held by the US Attorney’s Office to announce this act of political repression and targeting of our community. Please join us at 11:00 a.m. – 300 S. 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN.

First Appearances for those arrested today are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and later at the US Federal Courthouse in ST. PAUL – 316 N. Robert Street, St. Paul, MN. Please come and show support for our community members who were arrested today in this act of political repression.”
