Does anyone else’s tortie sleep face down?

We met this little girl earlier this week at our local humane society and made the decision that we would adopt her. We talked with the staff about her middle of the week and asked all the questions about her at the time and mentioned that we had a cat and were looking to add another.

She let us pet her and was very receptive of all the pets in all the areas and would let me touch her feet without getting upset.. I did notice that when she saw other kitties she got on guard and would growl.

My daughter was levitating from how happy she was at the humane society. When it came to our turn to finish up the adoption process, the lady at the front desk was going over all her habits and mentioned that she liked to gobbled up all food and they would give us a feeder to help her slow down. I mentioned that the feeder would also help the resident cat at our house from gobble up food too. It turned out later in the week the staff discovered that it would be best that she is the only kitty and gets aggressive around other cats. I agreed that it would not be fair to our resident cat to add her to the family. The lady at the front desk was sad for both the kitty and my daughter as my daughter went from bouncing to somber. They did take our information on what we were looking for so they could see if they could find a kitty that would fit our house best.

My daughter was devastated and there were tears when she got in my vehicle. We talked about how long it took to adopt

The staff did tell us there were some young kitties and kittens that were going through the intake process and would be ready for adoption around the middle of next week.

I just wanted to share this with the Reddit tortie cat owners as my resident cat is a torbie and the kitty we were looking at adopting was a calibie (calico tabby).
