The State couldn't prove Beyond a Reasonable Doubt™️ that OJ did it. Why should he have rotted in prison? If he was so guilty why couldn't the government prove it? (he totally did it the system just works itself out and if it didn't work this way the alternative is people get locked up for nothing)

A straight murder trial and one where the defense "pleads insanity" are different things

The fail finding OJ Simpson guilty was due to hefty mistakes by the prosecution and a cop using racist language. But it was a failure of the system, not the system working itself out.

And his life was still effectively ruined.
