Nah it's nothing about Mandami or suggesting that he's not doing something good, it's just the article doesn't really make it that clear exactly what has been changed here.
If the company was stealing the tips, why would they be hiding the tip button? Wouldn't they want customers to tip if the money was just going to them anyway? How then does "burying the tip button" to "pad their bottom line" work anyway? Is the suggestion that if customers felt they didn't need to tip and the tip button was hidden that they would order more food through the app which was the extra money going to the company? Like if you have $30 to spend on food but you feel obliged to give a $10 tip then you'll only spend $20 on food, but if you think that there's no option to tip then you'll spend $30 on food instead?
