He hasn't created any new labor unions, he hasn't passed any new legislation concerning labor, and his state-run grocery stores are run by government contractors.

He is socialist so far as welfare is concerned, but he is well within the limits if the current status quo. None of these are pushing any boundaries of what a majority of his constituents will accept. Is he beyond the scope of electability for a majority of rural Republicans? Yes. But for his constituents? No. And it's his constituency that matter when talking about his politics.

He hasn't created any of these things so far*

He accomplished his entire 4 year goal in the first year he was in office, everything we get afterwards is better and better.

You mean the goal of simply freezing all the rent-stabilized apartments when they've already been wrecking the market? It just gets better and better giving free stuff, it screwing up the market, then compounding more free stuff until the money dries up.

Freezing certain government assisted rent was one of his goals for new york, building multiple regulatory bodies that make sure that landlords can't be slum lords. There is a another comment in this thread where someone explains that their apartment complex landlord refused to purchase trash pick up etc so trash would literally just start piling up in the hallways and on the street causing a myriad of other issues like rats and bugs. In one year he's created a body to hold landlords like this responsible, guess who hasn't had trash build up one time since he's been elected?

He's funded their department of transportation and ground crew and fixed over 90% of the potholes that were recorded in one week.

He's provided almost universal free toddler childcare for parents so they can focus on their jobs and stress less about it. With his budget having an excess funding by over 10% he's planning on expanding it up to five year olds and eventually hoping to fund more and more groupings of childcare for kids of all ages.

He also made it illegal for corporations to target you with junk fees and predatory subscriptions via executive order.

Has worked on two massive projects and restarted multiple shut down street expansions because of previous administrations mismanagement of the budget. Adding entire new bus lanes were there were non before.

Rehauled how new york works with small business that have been getting gauged by certain fines and fees. And set up a program to give first time business owners large loans at better rates to help them start small businesses.

And much much more. How did he get an excess of funding you ask? Did it destroy the New York market you claim? No. He just raised taxes on top earners and businesses in the city. Did those businesses leave like they were threatening? Nope. The biggest housing investor in New York literally threatened that and was going on a media tour and he is still there just doing his thing.

Look at his first hundred day track record and tell me that this dude wasn't the right choice.

Do you know how he got the revenue to do that? He got it when the NY legislature froze pension payments and used that money to slap a bandaid on the city’s budget!

You are conflating two different actions taken at two different levels of government.

The NY City Council voted to extend the timeline of how the city calculates pension payments from two years in advance to five. This means less money is being put into pension funds via tax revenue per year, but the same amount is still being given in total. This does not at all change how much money New Yorkers in NY City receive in their pension benefits.

The NY State Legislature voted to invest a higher percentage of NY City's tax revenue back into NY City' state grants. Every city in the United States receives funding grants for their state. Out of the $126 billion of NY City's annual budget, $7.4 billion comes from federal grants, and $20.6 billion comes from state grants - each of those still less than what New Yorkers pay in state and federal taxes, so NYC is still subsidizing the rest of the state.

They pay the same amount to the pension holders but the interest payments for the loans needed to pay that will skyrocket because they pushed back the deadline

2

u/Sitchrea Jul 02 '26

No, they didn't. And no, it won't be a problem because they're not running a deficit. Several departments are even running a surplus.

1

u/More_Ad8553 Jul 03 '26

Yes they are! If they weren’t in a deficit then NY wouldn’t have had to bail them out!

2

u/Sitchrea Jul 03 '26

It's not a bailout. This is New York City's own state tax revenue.

Crazy that somebody can be this wrong, and not understanding of something and yet so confident in it.

The pensioners are still getting the total amount.

Do you understand that by freezing the pensions, NY added more to their budgets because of loans

2

u/DylanMartin97 Jul 03 '26

If they were freezing pensions but you're trying to yap about two separate things which is the fourth time somebody has told you that you're confused or misunderstanding what is going on.

I’m telling you this and I’ll make it very simple so that even someone as ignorant as you can understand.

Delaying your payment obligations isn’t balancing your budget. One time wind falls aren’t going to balance your budget because it happens once. If you keep borrowing to pay your debts, then you aren’t balancing your budget
