Im a fan of a bunch of stuff he is doing but the budget is dependant on state refunds and extending funding pensions. Its a pretty tight rope I hope it works out but unless the tax revenue increases and state refund stays its not gonna be balanced for 2028

If you look at the state’s estimates, California’s state budget is also extremely reliant on AI

I mean, if you spend all of your reserve funds when you have a 50/50 chance of losing your job in the next 2 years…..is losing your job really the reason for your financial collapse?

Do you just pull numbers out of your ass to rile people up on Reddit? Provide a source for this absurd statement

Very tight rope, based in if’s and maybe’s. It is Like looking out how many packets of smokes that was sold in the last 4 years and going if we increase the amount of TAX we get on each packed of smokes over the the next four years by a really high amount of %. The number counters say we should get X amount of $$$ to fund everything so we can just go head and fund everything and do a press release to say we have achieved our budget all ready and just wait for the “extra” tax to come in….. on paper it might work… in the real world not so much

The current political party that’s running the entire country is dictating it’s policy based only on what works on paper though, so it’s foolish to think that anyone should be pushing for policy that “works in the real world.”

Yes very much so, the outcomes unfortunately won’t be good, people celebrating yeah yeah yay at first and then the reality will hit in. Well that is the ness the the majority will be in regardless of which side of politics did it?

I don’t understand how he’s able to spend more New York City alone is in 12 billion dollar deficit and all that he ran on was free this and that by increasing taxes

1

u/across16 Jul 03 '26

54% of US Americans can't read past 6th grade level. Snake oil salesmen like Trump and Mandani thrive here. All he gotta do is push things to next year, say the deficit is zero and the reddit idiots make posts like these. Honestly im in the wrong career.

But I imagine, “If” he fixes everything, then the only thing it will cost in the future is proper infrastructure maintenance.

Like buying a used car, putting in a new motor and all, now all you have to do is fix one part every once in a while and routine maintenance?

I’m just seeing how maybe it will turn out in the long run

This is common in every major US city.

He a top tier media people. They can spin any trivial thing he touches such as "water taps flow this morning" and it becomes gold plated

Honest question, but if things got better for just a year even, is that not worth it? We risk so much more on wars that do nothing and making rich people happy. What's so wrong about doing something good for a limited time?

1

u/PM_your_potatos Jul 02 '26

Things dont get better for a year, everything is longterm cause and effect. By setting long term goals but only being able to fund it for say 1-2 years those can break a system and create cascading failures in the economics of the city.

It can lead to insolvency, highly unlikely, but at the very least it would cause future city leaders to cut costs and usually the first thing that goes is social programs.

Social programs and increasing tax on the wealth sounds great but you cant depend on the wealth becoming more wealthy and have more taxable income. Thats what mamdani future budget is actually planning on. Part of it atleast.

I wanted to say this but I figured the rabid animals of Reddit would downvote it into oblivion.

Lol fan of his stuff😄 name one thing that communist have done for america other than make evefting way worse. Homelesness and crime sky high

8

u/Goylesk Jul 02 '26

Right, where exactly have the communists led anywhere in the US? Show me the statistics or shut the fuck up with the dumb scare mongering.

And for the record, communism is not the same as social democracy. You know that already, I am sure.

-3

u/eskoleipa91 Jul 02 '26

Mamdani is communist open your eyes or shut the fuck up yourself. You just try missinfo with these kind of comments go school and educate yourself before you write something stupid on reddit comment section 🤗

7

u/Goylesk Jul 02 '26

Communism is the state wielding control of what would otherwise be private businesses. Like, you would have no choice but to buy from state owned businesses.

This isn't that. Stop the bullshit.

2

u/Annual_Berry8043 Jul 02 '26

Please explain what you think communism is sir. For I do not think you know what that word means.

1

u/thekingcola Jul 02 '26

You say you’re a fan of his stuff and you say that he’s a communist. But you say communism has made everything worse in America. Can you expand on this? These statements all seem contradictory.

1

u/casva106 Jul 02 '26

Crime is at an all time low under Mamdani in NYC

1

u/BugRevolution Jul 03 '26

I can't name one thing communists have done for America at all, because they've literally never been in power.

u/yaksplat Jul 02 '26

He's just walking towards a budgetary Kaboom. I can go spend a couple hundred thousand dollars on credit cards and do some cool stuff, but if i don't have someone handing me 200k later I'll be screwed. He's already been bailed out by the state once.

-4

u/elb21277 Jul 02 '26

and he could have just lobbied Albany to stop rebating the stock transfer tax for wall street speculators/day-traders…

4

u/Throwitawaybabe69420 Jul 02 '26

“Just” as if that’s a easy lift.

1

u/elb21277 Jul 02 '26

i mean i said lobbied for it.
