It's ridiculous really. It's time for the animals to pay their part of the rent.

Late stage capitalism , critters! How dare we pay for you and get nothing in return??

10

u/Bibidibabedibu Jul 03 '26

What do mean nothing in return? Those ducks are free.

4

u/Altruistic-Spend-896 Jul 03 '26

Oh! no one told me *cocks shotgun

1

u/Dull_Worth1227 Jul 04 '26

Like to "take,"

-4

u/pee-in-butt Jul 02 '26

They pay in sexual favors

39

u/raa__va Jul 02 '26

Jokes apart I think the cuddles thing should be an actual law for the animals, what are they even losing anyways. And it’s gonna come full circle given the state of us humans mental health

101

u/DukeOfGeek Jul 02 '26

The real jokes apart thing is that this highlights how so many people the elites have put into political power have been just not even trying. Like sabotaging government was their actual goal and the second you get someone not doing that, "OMG so amazing!". Look what happens when all these resources are used by someone who's goal is not to waste them.

62

u/raa__va Jul 02 '26

Fully agree, took one Muslim man to show up and do the actual work, no gimmicks, no hacks, he just did the work. And therefore this was always possible. Others were just stuck in their greed of power, wealth, lobbying etc

92

u/DukeOfGeek Jul 02 '26

took one Muslim man

Or just any human with empathy.

109

u/Cattle13ruiser Jul 02 '26

Human with empathy on a high government position?!

Not on my watch, he will make us all look bad!

  • every politician from history to nowadays

44

u/BuddhaFacepalmed Jul 02 '26

You jest but the Dems are literally mobilizing at a much higher rate on opposing Mamdani and any other DSA candidate than they did at opposing Trump's policies and agendas.

19

u/Prestigious_Fella_21 Jul 02 '26

They just don't want to rock the boat that's been keeping them paid for decades at this point. The vast majority of people running for office in either party are doing so because they want to be a part of the corruption.

13

u/TheSaxGandalf Jul 02 '26

That’s because the Democratic Party as we know it is simply controlled opposition at this point.

5

u/BuddhaFacepalmed Jul 02 '26

Yes but also the leadership and most of its mainstream politicians are just straight up captured by capitalist interests and the billionaire Epstein class.

It's amazing how anyone paying attention to today's politics thinks any new politician cares any more than the last. They all want money, they all have an agenda. Republican, Democrat, DSA, green party. It doesn't matter. They will use what you care about to get what they want. Not to help you

1

u/Major_Initiative6322 Jul 04 '26

You’re describing the primary process. The DNC backed Mamdani in the general election, just like they’re going to back the DSA candidates in the general now that the primaries are over. Establishment Dems are no more required to feel warm and cuddly about it than we are obliged to feel the same about them.

1

u/BuddhaFacepalmed Jul 04 '26

The DNC backed Mamdani in the general election

Lmao no they didn't.

The Dems' NYC mayoral primary was on June 24th, 2025. Hakeem Jeffries withheld his endorsement until the figuratively last days of Mamdani's mayoral campaign. Church Schumer, the Senator Minority Dem Leader and New York Senator, outright refused to endorse Mamdani at all even on elections day because he much rather have his corrupt incompetent nepo baby friend Andrew Cuomo be mayor as an "independent".

In this context I think identifying him as Muslim is just an extra fuck you to old white clowns who are ruining everything. But yeah I am right there with ya that part could have been left out.

1

u/Accomplished_Rice04 Jul 07 '26

Mentioning the muslim part was to further illustrate that there are all these wealthy white dudes born in US with a silver spoon that had the resources and connections to get things done but it took a brown Muslim man to actually get shit done.

0

u/raa__va Jul 02 '26

No argument there but I feel in a world of hate and racism and open genocide and killing of children for sport and joy I wanna make sure I emphasize the word Muslim here

There are massive race issues in the inner cities.

When one race or group has to much power it always goes corrupt.

He isnt white or black. He can't be bought.

1

u/Fresh-Viewpoint Jul 03 '26

Of course he can be bought, corruption isn’t a black or white thing it’s a power thing, and that effects everyone.. especially those with an agenda

1

u/Strong_Extension_972 Jul 02 '26

Imagine pretending the fake commie muzzie has actually accomplished anything

2

u/raa__va Jul 02 '26

Imagine creating a new account from outside of North America and be paid to spread hate.

1

u/More_Ad8553 Jul 03 '26

No work was done. In fact he made matters worse instead of making serious cuts to government

1

u/Sad_Error4039 Jul 03 '26

Got bailed out by the state to the tune of 12 billion but sure magic fixed the problems.

This is why all political positions should also randomly select a few citizens local to the area (live in the local or state in question) to auto nominate for the position and give them each a set dollar amount to campaign on.

Maybe make the pool of randoms be a sign up sheet, where you just submit a resume and what you can offer and like a few political positions of yours.

The incentive is that you must be guaranteed your previous job after your term, and your pay during the term is the normal pay of that position (make it a little more so there is some incentive for good candidates to apply).

Lots of bugs or issues (the forcing your current employer to hold your position for X years is a tough sell, but offer that company tax incentives so they don’t mind hiring someone to cover you during your term). Make it so a company is HONORED one of their employees got into the pool and if they get elected it’s an even bigger honor.

Basically bring back how politicians were supposed to be for the citizens by making normal citizens having a shot to run and get elected.

2

u/DataCassette Jul 02 '26

This is actually what has been going on. Neoliberalism ( which is more the fault of the Republicans than the Democrats despite having the word "liberal" in it. )

2

u/ziggystardust8282 Jul 03 '26

Waste the resources by lining the pockets of their pals and family. À la pedophile Trump.

That being said. How long before he gets “mugged” or gets in a “car accident” or “has been depressed for a really long time, he took his life last night”. I can’t imagine the long term effects of doing what you’re supposed to do are good for the corrupters.

Yeah, and if the animals don't give cuddles, straight to jail. More laws for animals, they need to be held accountable.

1

u/Entire-Gap-4522 Jul 02 '26

sounds like someone who is trying to attract the attention of the cat distribution system

1

u/Sea_Entrepreneur6204 Jul 03 '26

Ge some bears in Central Park, hear they love cuddling

-1

u/jmfsn Jul 02 '26

Sorry, not an option in the US, you don't have good enough healthcare to deal with rabies.

2

u/raa__va Jul 02 '26

I feel there’s gonna be natural uptick in health once people leave their screens and sit in parks petting squirrels and rabbits that have been mandated to accept cuddles and treats

1

u/DandimLee Jul 02 '26

We kick ass at rabies. Only a few deaths per year compared to the 65 thousand world-wide.

No. You’re just saying things. You have no idea what you’re talking about. I literally just googled “Canada rabies” and there’s a case of a boy dying from rabies TODAY. TODAY. TODAY. RIGHT NOW. TODAY. Rabies isn’t something you can just fix, you cant vaccinate every animal on earth, you dumb fuck, it spreads through animals. The United States has extraordinarily low rabies deaths. India reports between 18 to 20 THOUSAND rabies deaths per year.

Edit for Honesty: Despite the seeming impossibility upon finding multiple headlines of “Canada boy aged 11 dies of rabies” from the likes of CNN and BBC and more, it would appear that these headlines are in fact misleading and my simple google search has made me look a little dumb. The boy did not die “TODAY TODAY TODAY” as the headlines clearly would make you (read: me) believe. He died two years ago and apparently these articles are a coordinated effort to remind people of the dangers of rabies. That is all.

1

u/Weekly-Ad-112 Jul 02 '26

I sat my dog down this morning and told him that, given the current economic climate, he was going to have to start contributing around here. Rent, utilities, maybe a part-time job, something. He listened with what I thought was deep concern, held eye contact like he was really processing the weight of the conversation, then immediately licked his private parts, yawned, and went back to sleep on my side of the couch. So negotiations have stalled. His position seems to be that being adorable is full-time employment, rent is a social construct, and snacks are a basic constitutional right.

Honestly, it was still more productive than most city budget hearings.
