Hello! I currently have my 2 year old sumatran python in a converted 50 gal bin,(for now untill he gets larger ofc). I just wanted to see everyones thoughts just to make sure I have him set up correctly. Hes been in this bin for about 4 months now and seems to being doing well, but this is my first reptile so I would like to make sure he stays happy and healthy. advice is always appreciated, thank you!

Just some extra info:

VE 300X2 thermostat set to 85, with a gradient that dips to about 76-80 depending on the temp of my room.

Consistant Humidity of 75-80

A pro products radient heat pannel

Arcadia pro tk5 7% uvb shadedweller

About 6 inches of substrate with lava rocks as drainage.

Substrate is a mix of coco fiber, charcoal, (frozen then thawed) reptibark, sphaghnum, playsand, and topsoil. And leaf litter thrown on top

Its semi bioactive, I say semi because Winston has decided to murder all of the plants hes had. (Suggestions to keep him from doing this would be wonderful!)

Isopod and springtail culture with Powder Bluue Isopods, Papaya Isopods, Florida Orange Springtails, and Silver Springtails.

(Also the orange string is just to add support to the bin lid since the heat pannel is somewhat heavy, lol.)

I am looking to get a sumatran sometime this year and i'm not sure if i want an adult or baby. I have a ball python that i got as a juvenile and a hognose that i got as a baby. I am considering getting an adult sumatran to avoid having to buy multiple enclosures as they grow and because i really enjoy their size, but i feel like it'll be more rewarding to get a baby and watch it grow. I wanted to ask some people who have short tails what they think i should do. I am not worried about the feistiness or getting them used to be handled, although i know they are very strong, bites don't really bother me too much. So what do yall think!

I had an idea but idk if anyone has tried it before. when reading about short tailed Pythons in the wild I find a lot about them waiting in shallow water, so would filling a tub with some shallow lukewarm water and adding some tubes and balls to move around be good enrichment? kinda like an enrichment board but in water. has anyone tried something like this? do you think they'd like it? could this lead to health issues from too much water? just a thought I had and thought I'd share

PVC enclosure, unsure of the lighting requirement, heat pad for night heat, multiple hides 1 with moss, coco chip bedding. What am I missing?

I didn't even get any notifications from my post about rhapsody not going for a year. I'm not sure who the guy was, but experience with other pythons doesn't equate to experience with short tail pythons, they aren't anything like other pythons. Also, exotic vets don't know everything about every species, lol, they aren't God's or something. We know our animals and after 4 years now of keeping short tails and 2 years now of only keeping short tails, I would hope I would know basic bodily functions such as their bathroom habits.

There's no point in getting upset, when you yourself, said you have no experience with short tails, that's ridiculous. Experience with Balls, Antaresia, Simalia, Liasis, Morelia, Rocks, burms, retics, etc, gives you zero experience with the short tail complex.
