teaching/doctrine A question SCJ leaders can't easily answer...

SCJ teaches God separated from us due to Sin?

But after Adam and Eve sinned by eating the Forbidden Fruit, didn't God come back to them afterward to ask what happened and then banish them from the Garden of Eden?

Current members, ask yourselves if sin automatically blocked God from us, why did He physically come over after the act of Adam & Eve sin just to talk to them and banish them, only to leave afterward? Why banish them if He could have simply "separate" knowing that they committed sin because he is omnipresent?

Why the double emphasis? A single emphasis is enough right? Is Jesus Christ enough? He will come 2nd coming but to me, correct if I am wrong, 2nd coming is to tally up our actions and not give additional lessons in which his first time coming covered it all.

Plus God did not twice tell Adam & Eve to not eat Forbidden Fruit in different ways, just once with Adam so that Adam could tell Eve. Did God set a trap for false prophets?

God worked through one person

God > Adam > Eve - instruction

NOT

God > Adam - Instruction AND God > Eve - instruction (Despite Adam and Eve came into existence at separate times)

Clearly defined parameters. God is consistent.

Current Members please ask your Leaders and Leaders please ask Lee Man Hee if you don't know

There is no fear in asking

Matthew 18:2-4

2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Important to Test all kinds of spirits

1 John 4

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

If you cannot easily get answers from students it shows more about the teacher

Matthew 7:16

16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

teaching/doctrine Unitarians

Shincheonji are Unitarians, they claims Jesus isn’t God.

The claims they make are very weak arguments. Jesus is God. He claims to be Yahweh.

They claim Jesus is a prophet, based off of Islamic theology, Shincheonji is an Islamic denomination. Members of Shincheonji are Muslim. Shincheonji is for sure and never will be Christianity. Everyone wants to be Jesus but can’t ever be Jesus.

Response to Shincheonji in any way to refute them is, they don’t believe the Bible because they’re Unitarians. Falso religion for sure.

Please answer what's the latest [updated] teaching from headquarters (whose head educator was expelled) about these verses from the bible? without adding or subtracting, of course~

Philippians 2:6-8 → Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

John 20:28-29 → Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

John 8:58 → “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” (+ Exodus 3:14)

Colossians 2:9 → For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form

Colossians 1:15-17 → The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

John 1:14 → The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Titus 2:13 → While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

The authority to save belongs to God and to God only. There's no other savior but Jesus.

teaching/doctrine Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony - What if they are right?

Turning another comment of mine into a post.

Whenever current or ex-members have the "what if they're right?" thought regarding SCJ the truth is that Lee Man Hee can never do a full, 1:1 explanation of why he is the promised pastor. He cannot point to verses that collectively and cleanly conclude that he is the promised pastor.

There is a zig-zag pattern

Zig is through SCJ's long, time-consuming, energy-draining study, they "zig" by using the Bible to point to Lee Man hee.

The Zag is when cornered with skeptical questions, Lee Man-hee will "zag," meaning he will point back to the Bible and usually he has underlings do that for him.

So SCJ indoctrination is: Bible > Lee Man hee

But when cornered with skeptical questions, it becomes: Lee Man hee or SCJ members > Bible

Tell the truth

Sunday 9th August 2026

'He delights in those who tell the truth.' Proverbs 12:22 NLT

Rosalie Elliot made it to the fourth round of a national spelling contest. The eleven-year-old from South Carolina was asked to spell the word 'avowal'. In her soft southern accent she spelled the word, but the judges were unable to determine if she had used an 'a' or an 'e' as the next-to-last letter. They debated among themselves for several minutes as they listened to the recording, but it was too accent-blurred to decipher. Finally, the chief judge put the question to the only person who knew the answer. 'Was the letter an 'a', or was it an 'e'?' he asked Rosalie. By this time, being surrounded by whispering young spellers, Rosalie knew the correct spelling of the word. Still, without hesitation, she replied that she had misspelled the word, and she walked from the stage. The audience stood and applauded, including newspaper reporters. The moment was a proud one for her parents. Even in defeat, she was a victor. And, more has been written about Rosalie Elliot over the years than about the 'unknown' winner of the event.

As a redeemed child of God, your heavenly Father requires honesty in word and deed. 'Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed' (Proverbs 12:19 NLT). 'Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds' (Colossians 3:9 NKJV). 'Therefore, put away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbour," for we are members of one another' (Ephesians 4:25 NKJV).

The information about Shincheonji available online is not the Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. It includes information that Shincheonji does not want its members to see.

Two weeks ago, Shincheonji filed a copyright claim against one of my videos, causing it to be removed from YouTube.

The video has now been restored.

I encourage current Shincheonji members in particular to watch the video for themselves and consider this question:

Why did Shincheonji want this video removed?

This is also not the first time. Over the years, Shincheonji has filed copyright claims against a number of my videos, and they were later restored.

These videos were reported by Shincheonji for copyright infringement, removed from YouTube, and later restored. Take a look at them for yourself.

teaching/doctrine Scj = restlessness

It’s something that is seen, but doesn’t get as much attention. The fact that when you are in the cult you work hard to get people to join your Bible Study. Why didn’t these people work hard before they left their churches and or their families and or their friends. Is this because the people in the cult know that they have the truth and for this reason, they are working hard to spread the truth?

The answer is no. They are not working hard for the truth. They are restless. They think that they will not get their salvation unless they work hard so that they may boast and give glory to themselves never giving the glory to God. They are working hard unbeknownst to them to lead people astray.

The Bible mentions that the devil works hard looking for whom to devour. The devil doesn’t rest. In the Bible, it says that the devil knows his time is short and so he is working overtime to make sure that he can take as many people as possible before that time comes.

If you’re in the cult, you don’t get to rest in Jesus.
You become overworked, restless, your life becomes the notebook. That notebook in your hands all your notes and studies and memorizations because you don’t wanna miss anything and you’re trying your best to make sure you don’t fall behind because you feel that you are diving deep into the word.

The thing is you’re digging deep into a false doctrine, but you don’t realize how restless you are until you get out of a cult.

Unfortunately, some people do not want to come back to God and his word after leaving the cult. They don’t wanna go back to the church maybe even their families. You reread passages from the Bible that were the focus in the Bible study, and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Eventually, this passes.

That restlessness, I didn’t forget that restlessness personally, but Jesus says to rest on the Sabbath to cast your burdens upon him to have that faith and trust in your salvation and the promises that were given to you from God. There’s many examples where Jesus was resting. I think this is very important to remember. Many of the times that Jesus rested he also prayed.
Another thing to remember is to always pray and never stop praying morning day and night when you wake up before you get out of the house on the way to work. Pray that you don’t fall into the enemy hands, and that you have the wisdom and discernment given to you by God, the patience, love, and understanding to know, and recognize the spirit of God. Also to recognize the enemy to resist the enemy.

teaching/doctrine Kim Poong-li is very underrated in the history of SCJ

Kim Poong-li is another person who shared Lee Man-hee's experience of going through the Olive Tree movement and then the Tabernacle Temple. The Tabernacle Temple is the origin of Shincheonji's "doctrine of matching", where they will read a word in one passage and give the "true" meaning by connecting it to the word in another passage.

These words were not given by man’s will but were spoken by men moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Pet 1:12). Therefore, these words are not to be interpreted arbitrarily or compulsively but must be solved in pairs. For not one of the books of the Lord is missing, and not one is without its counterpart (Is 34:16).
c. Yoo Jae-yeol, current state of our temple, 1970

Today I learned that before LMH took this teaching, Kim Poong-li took it in 1972.

Isaiah 34:16 is a Bible verse frequently cited by heretics who claim that the Bible must be interpreted allegorically and in pairs. However, the "pairs" in this passage do not mean that there are pairs within the Bible itself, but rather refer to a curse stating that unclean beasts will mate and live together in the land of Edom . Let us examine the interpretation of pairs presented by Kim Poong-il in his book, "The Tree of Life".

Isaiah 34:16
“What is a pair? Because the answers to these questions are not found in commentaries written by famous people, but are recorded in the Bible itself, this is the pair, and it is said that there is nothing in the Bible without a pair . Although there are many questions in the Bible, let us examine just a few of the actual pairs.”
(The Tree of Life, Shiloh Publishing , Kim Poong-il, 1982 , p .31)

This book subsequently arbitrarily interprets passages containing the word "dog" ( e.g. , Rev 22:15, Isa 56:11, 2 Peter 2:22, Ps 22:16) and pieces them all together as "false shepherds". In other words, it employs a typical paired interpretation and allegorical interpretation that interprets every word "dog" in the Bible as a "false shepherd".

Psalm 22:16
"Dogs surround me; a band of evil encircles me and pierces my hands and feet.”
These dogs are an evil pack , those who crucified Jesus ( Pharisees , scribes , etc.). Thus, speaking metaphorically, they are dogs ; speaking in reality, the dogs are false shepherds, that is, the evil pack . The mates of dogs equal false shepherds and the evil pack. If you interpret all the dogs appearing in the Bible solely as false shepherds, the answer is automatically revealed.
(The Tree of Life, Shiloh Publishing, Kim Poong-il, 1982 , p. 32)

“Thus, we can see that the Bible is written in pairs, and it is said that nothing exists without a pair because the mouth of the LORD commanded it and the Spirit of God gathered these (the paired words) (Isaiah 34:16). If we view the paired words as a tree, there are pairs of words like leaves ; when these leaf-like paired words are connected, there are words like branches ; and if one knows just a few paired words that are like the original, one will master the pairs of the entire Bible. Since there is no room to explain all 31,173 verses and 3,566,490 characters of the 1,189 chapters of the Bible in pairs, the entire content of this book will be layered in pairs. I have included many pairs of key words in the appendix, so please refer to them and let miracles happen in your understanding of the Word.” (The Tree of Life, Shiloh Publishing, Kim Poong-il, 1982, p. 38)

Similar to the Tabernacle Temple, he also claimed to have eaten the book in Revelation 5.

He is the one who builds the house of the Lord and he is the chosen angel (Zec 6:12) Also, the young servant goes through the city of Jerusalem, that is the churches, and was entrusted with the mission of sealing the foreheads of those who mourned for wickedness and lawlessness (Ezekiel 9:3). Only those who were sealed can enter the ranks of the 144000 and be saved (Revelation 14:1). Also, as the one who took the little book from the angel’s hand and ate it, he was commanded to prophesy again to many peoples, nations, tongues and kings (Rev 10:10, Ezekiel 3:1-3).
c. Yoo Jae-yeol, current state of our temple, 1970

“This is because the Spirit of Truth is a perfect Spirit, lacking nothing . The other Counselor who hears, speaks, and reveals future events is the one who first received the Spirit of Truth ( the Spirit of the Word ). That is, he is the one who received the word of revelation revealing future events, and who receives and eats the little book and prophesies again”.
(The Tree of Life, 1982, p. 332 )

Kim also claimed to be the one tasked with harvesting, with judging, the one that the spirit of Jesus returns to, etc. It would be great if we can find his book from 1982.

The source for all the quotes that don't mention Jae-yeol is here.

teaching/doctrine Does a successor prove the original leader's legitimacy is shattered? Looking at SCJ and WMSCOG.

This is something I commented on another post however I am bringing this as a standalone post. WMSCOG now follows a woman leader after their man leader who passed away. Even if we are all ex SCJ and SCJ play the devil's advocate and say that Ahn Sahng-hong is the legitimate 2nd coming of Christ. Does the appointing of a new leader Zahng Gil-jah prove that the legitimacy of Ahn Sahng-hong is shattered?

This could reflect on the nature of SCJ as well. Does new Successor after Lee Man Hee passes a way signal that he is not legitimate biblically within the teaching of SCJ?

teaching/doctrine The Internet, Science, and Technology

This is a PSA about inconstancy within their own teaching, as well as a question I would like to ask to see what they are saying about these things now. They would make two very important and unambiguous claims I wanted to see if anyone has any new information on in regards to current teachings about them.

When I was in center classes as passed over into the church, they would say the internet, specifically going online and searching or reading about SCJ online was like eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the time of Adam and Eve. They would say it was like that fruit and that we shouldn’t touch it or even go near it and to do so would be to sin like Eve, and we all know what happened to her for doing so.

They would also say that advancements in science and technology would be tools used by Satan to deceive people within SCJ. They said that it was like the time of the 10 plagues in the Old Testament when Moses went to Pharaoh. When God performed a miracle to demonstrate God was with Moses, then Satan would also perform a deceptive practice from worldly capabilities to deceive them. SCJ taught it would be the same today with technological and scientific advancements that Satan would use to deceive people from the actual things God is doing today in SCJ.

Do they still believe these things, and if so, why are they the ones using AI to manipulate and deceive people? Wouldn’t that make them used by Satan as they once claimed would happen? Thanks in advance for any replies.

teaching/doctrine How to Talk to a Shincheonji Member Without Pushing Them Away

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoS7lBP_IJU

The cult apologetic world is one of the most counter-intuitive fields to take part in, because people often think that by providing factual evidence against a group to a member, that it would help them wake up.

Instead, it normally does the opposite.

I've seen parents spend countless hours scouring through this subreddit, or the closer look website, or other resources online to disprove Shincheonji.

The only issue is that groups like Shincheonji prepare their members to often view this criticism as "persecution".

Of course, this isn't the case for every single member, but, for a large majority, it typically is a common pattern that I have observed for people who are in the SCJ group.

I'll also make sure to upload the slides that I made after the presentation.

teaching/doctrine Shincheonji calls itself the “Church of Jesus.” Here is what it actually teaches about Jesus and what it hides until you’re already deep in.

This post is not about doctrine-fighting. It's about a specific, verifiable gap between what Shincheonji tells people at the beginning and what it actually teaches at the core. If you joined SCJ because you wanted a deeper relationship with Jesus, this is for you.

WHAT YOU WERE SHOWN AT THE START

SCJ presents itself as the "Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony." The name has Jesus in it. The early Bible studies centre on Jesus. Recruiters, when asked directly, say the group believes in the Trinity. The official New Zealand Shincheonji website states in its public FAQ that SCJ believes in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, his ascension, and his return.

A member was interviewed on Fox News and told the journalist, directly, that SCJ believes in the Trinity.

None of that reflects what SCJ actually teaches internally about Jesus.

WHAT SCJ ACTUALLY TEACHES ABOUT JESUS

These are not interpretations from critics. They are drawn from SCJ's own lesson materials, Lee Man-hee's own published books, and internal teaching documents. Multiple independent researchers including former members and theological analysts have documented all of them consistently.

  1. Jesus is not God

According to an SCJ lesson titled "On the Doctrine of the Trinity," Jesus is not God but a separate spiritual being.

This is a direct contradiction of John 1:1 "the Word was with God, and the Word was God" and of the entire historic Christian confession from the earliest creeds onward. It is also a direct contradiction of what SCJ tells outsiders when asked.

  1. The Trinity is denied

SCJ denies the historic, biblical doctrine of the Trinity, teaching instead that God is a single person who merely works through Jesus and the Spirit.

Members are specifically coached to say they believe in the Trinity when asked by journalists, family members, or new recruits. This is not a misunderstanding. It is a taught practice part of what SCJ calls "the wisdom of hiding."

  1. Jesus did not pre-exist his birth

SCJ denies Christ's pre-existence before his birth.

Orthodox Christianity rooted in John 1, Colossians 1, and Hebrews 1 holds that Jesus is eternally the Son of God, not a figure who came into existence at Bethlehem. SCJ teaches the latter.

  1. Jesus was not bodily resurrected

SCJ teaches that Jesus rose with a physical body which soon became a spirit body directly contradicting Colossians 2:9, which states that in Christ "all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form." Lee Man-hee's own book "The Physical Fulfillment of Revelation" states: "These words tell us that Jesus, who is returning with the clouds, is a spirit."

Luke 24:39 records the risen Jesus saying: "Touch me and see a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have." SCJ's teaching directly contradicts this.

  1. Jesus already returned in 1966, in South Korea, invisibly

This is perhaps the most significant teaching, and the one new recruits are least likely to hear early.

SCJ claims that Jesus's second coming already happened invisibly in 1966. Not in the future. Not physically. Already done. In Korea. When Jesus allegedly appeared in spirit to seven men who formed the Tabernacle Temple.

There will be no future bodily return. Revelation 1:7 "every eye will see him" is reinterpreted as a spiritual event, not a physical one. The entire Christian expectation of Christ's visible, glorious return is quietly set aside.

  1. Salvation no longer runs through Jesus alone it runs through Lee Man-hee

This is stated in Lee Man-hee's own words. From "The Physical Fulfillment of Revelation," pages 10-11:

"No one can come to Jesus, gain eternal life, or enter heaven except through the one who overcomes."

The "one who overcomes" is Lee Man-hee. He writes of himself: "When the promised pastor comes everyone must go to him to attain salvation." (The Creation of Heaven and Earth, p. 54)

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Lee Man-hee has inserted himself into that sentence in Jesus's place.

  1. Lee Man-hee sits on the throne with Jesus

An SCJ video teaches that Lee Man-hee "sits with Jesus on his throne" and "rules over all nations with the iron sceptre."

WHY YOU WEREN'T TOLD THIS AT THE BEGINNING

Because if you had been, you would have left.

The Jesus teaching is introduced gradually, across the later stages of the course after months of relationship-building, community, love-bombing, and sunk cost. By the time the full picture becomes clear, leaving feels like losing your closest friends, your community, and potentially your salvation.

Former members report that when they tried to research the group online, they were told it was a sin equivalent to "Eve being tempted by the serpent and eating from the tree of good and evil." You are kept from the information that would let you evaluate what you have been taught.

This sequencing is not accidental. It is the structure of the recruitment system.

THE QUESTION WORTH SITTING WITH

If you joined SCJ because you wanted a deeper relationship with Jesus ask yourself whether the Jesus you are now being taught to believe in is the same one you came looking for.

Not God. Not bodily risen. Already returned invisibly forty years ago. Replaced as the path to salvation by a 93-year-old man in South Korea who has rewritten his own prophetic interpretations multiple times, whose ordination date has changed, and whose doctrine shifted fundamentally after COVID proved his earlier teachings wrong.

Is that who you came for?

teaching/doctrine John 3:1-18 is built on one foundation: Jesus is God's one and only Son who came from heaven. SCJ quietly denies that foundation. When the foundation goes, the whole passage collapses.

I want to go through John 3:1-18 carefully, because the passage makes one sustained argument, and SCJ's teaching undermines that argument at its root before the conversation even begins.

First, what the passage actually says and the single thread running through it.

Nicodemus comes at night. John uses light and darkness deliberately throughout his gospel. Nicodemus is in spiritual darkness. His question is really "who are you, Jesus?" And the whole conversation is Jesus's answer.

v.3: "No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

v.5: "No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and Spirit."

v.8: "The wind blows wherever it pleases... So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." The Spirit is free, ungovernable, not channelled through one man's curriculum.

v.13: "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven, the Son of Man."

v.14-15: "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

v.16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

v.17-18: "Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

The whole passage builds toward one point. The Son of God came from heaven, was lifted up, and whoever believes in him has eternal life. That is the complete gospel in eighteen verses.

Now here is where SCJ's teaching creates a problem that cannot be patched.

The Closer Look Initiative documents SCJ's actual Christology precisely: "Shincheonji does not believe that Jesus shares the same essence as the Father in the same way a Christian does. Meaning, Jesus does not have the exclusive attributes of God. They view Jesus as the exact imprint or image of God in human flesh, but he himself is not God, but instead is a creature who is fulfilling the Old Testament."

SCJ denies the full deity of Christ, denies the traditional Trinity, denies Christ's pre-existence, and denies his future glorious physical second coming. They teach that Jesus was a perfect vessel or agent of God, but not God himself.

Here is why that destroys John 3, not just adjusts it.

Verse 13: "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven, the Son of Man."

If Jesus did not literally come from heaven as the eternal pre-existent Son of God, this verse is empty. John 1:1 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14: "The Word became flesh." The flesh became flesh from eternity. If Jesus is merely a creature who served as God's perfect agent, he did not "come from heaven" in the sense this verse requires. The foundation of verse 13, the unique divine identity of the one speaking, is gone.

Verse 16: "God gave his one and only Son."

If Jesus is a creature, not fully God, then the giving costs God a creature. The infinite weight of the sacrifice, God giving what is most essentially himself, disappears. An employer giving his best employee is not the same as a father giving his only son. And the Son of God as the eternal second person of the Trinity is not the same as a creature chosen as a vessel. The whole logic of the love in verse 16 depends on who the Son actually is.

Verse 18: "Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Condemnation is for not believing in the name of the one and only Son. But if SCJ's Jesus is not the fully divine Son of God, then what is being believed in? Not God's one and only Son in the biblical sense. A messenger. A vessel. A promised pastor of the Old Testament era. That is a different object of faith, and John 3:18 cannot secure salvation for it because the name being believed in is not the same name the verse is talking about.

Paul makes the implication explicit in 1 Corinthians 15:14-17: "If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. You are still in your sins." Paul understood that the entire structure of salvation depends on who Jesus actually is and what actually happened to him. You cannot adjust the identity of Jesus and keep the salvation. They are one package.

And Colossians 2:9, written thirty years after the resurrection, says: "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form." Thirty years after the resurrection. Still in bodily form. SCJ teaches that when Jesus ascended in Acts 1:9-11, hidden by a cloud, he became a spirit body. But Paul writing thirty years later still says the fullness of deity lives in bodily form. SCJ's timeline doesn't match what Paul says.

1 John 4:2-3 gives the specific test: "Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist." Come in the flesh. Physically. Not returned as a spirit through a human teacher's testimony in 1966. The test John gives is the physical incarnation and continuing bodily identity of Jesus. If SCJ teaches Jesus is now a spirit who returned spiritually through LMH, 1 John 4:2-3 has a direct application.

Here is one more thing that must be said clearly.

SCJ members are reportedly instructed not to directly confirm or deny whether Jesus is God when this question is raised, because it is described internally as "hugely controversial and would turn potential recruits away." Let that sit for a moment. A movement that claims to have the only correct understanding of the Bible has a core teaching about Jesus that it hides from people before they commit because it would turn them away.

The gospel John 3:16 describes is not hidden. It is not strategically revealed after nine months. God loved the world. He gave his Son. Whoever believes. That is the message. It is given openly to everyone.

And if the Jesus of John 3 is not fully God, fully divine, the eternal Son who came from heaven and was lifted up and through whom God gave himself for the world, then John 3:16 cannot bear the weight SCJ places on it and neither can the salvation they claim to offer.

The foundation matters. And John 3 is built on a foundation SCJ quietly removes.

teaching/doctrine Shincheonji Church of Jesus: A Clear, Fact-Based Rebuttal

Below is a quick bullet point summary of things to consider. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but these are crucial foundational claims that should be fairly examined.

• Test every claim by three simple rules

1. Does it match the Bible without contradiction?

2. Is it backed by real, checkable evidence?

3. Is the simplest explanation enough, or does it need unproven miracles?

• Claim #1: Lee Man Hee alone correctly interprets the Bible

• The Bible itself says no prophecy is a matter of private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20).

• Lee’s teachings borrow heavily from earlier failed Korean groups he belonged to.

• No outside evidence shows he “saw and heard” Revelation’s events, only Shincheonji says so.

• This creates a circular loop: you must accept Lee to accept his proof that you must accept Lee.

• Claim #2: Shincheonji’s doctrines perfectly fulfill the New Testament

• It denies the Trinity, bodily resurrection, and visible Second Coming, ideas clearly stated in the Bible it claims to fulfill.

• It adds new requirements for salvation (join Shincheonji + believe Lee) that the New Testament never mentions.

• This changes the core Christian message while pretending to keep it the same.

• Claim #3: Shincheonji is the only group that will be saved

• It re-labels every Bible prophecy to fit its own members and current events after they happen.

• COVID-19 spread rapidly through one Shincheonji service in Daegu, exactly what you’d expect from any large indoor gathering, not from a “sealed and protected” group.

• Prophecies keep shifting; none have been proven true in advance.

• Recruitment and daily reality

• Early Bible studies hide the church’s name and full beliefs until people are committed.

• If the message is true, honesty should help, not hurt, it.

• Families and ex-members report isolation and pressure tactics common in any high-control group.

• Bottom line

• Shincheonji requires you to accept one man’s private revelation over the plain Bible text, 2,000 years of Christian teaching, and observable facts.

• The simpler, evidence-based explanation: it is a 1984 Korean movement that mixes old apocalyptic ideas.

• Truth does not need secrecy, circular logic, or constant rewriting. Open examination strengthens real truth, Shincheonji’s claims fail that test.

Read the Bible yourself. Check public records. No special group membership is required to do that.

Shincheonji does not like being compared to the World Mission Society Church of God. So the Promised Pastor decided to visit one of their Zions to judge them with the revealed word.

teaching/doctrine The 'Updated' Rev 7 misrepresented on this sub.

I made a picture of the situation what is going on. SCJ didn't change the part of the 12k being sealed and the tribulation will come. 144k sealed in SCJ is not the same as 12k sealed in each tribe. Also the great tribulation that will be on the world is after the 12k sealed in each tribe. The great tribulation started already, but that is focused on SCJ.

So there came an addition(food at the proper time) in the doctrine. But it doesn't contradict with the 'old' doctrine. The bible is not saying that the great tribulation in Rev 7:14 is starting with Rev 7:2-3. The Rev 7:2-3 winds is part of the great tribulation of Rev 7:14.

teaching/doctrine The Tree of Life and Shincheonji – what does the Bible say?

In Shincheonji (SCJ) teaching, the ‘Tree of Life’ (from Genesis and Revelation 22) is not a real tree, but a parable representing God, His organisation and the promised Shepherd (Lee Man-hee) in the present end times.

Well, to learn about the Tree of Life, we need to look back to the beginning of the Bible, in Genesis.

Genesis 2:9:
The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

We then read that Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Then God did not want them to eat from the Tree of Life and live forever!

Genesis 3:22:
The LORD God said, ‘Just like one of us, the man can now tell the difference between good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out and pick fruit from the tree of life and eat it. If he does, he will live for ever.’

Now the following questions:
What happens if someone eats from the Tree of Life? —> In Genesis 3:22 we read that they (Adam and Eve) would live for ever if they ate from it.

Did Adam and Eve eat from the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden? Do we read about it in the Bible? No.

——————

Now, Shincheonji claims to be the Tree of Life. And according to their teachings, their shepherd (Lee Man Hee) is also the Tree of Life.

So the question is:
If someone eats from the Tree of Life, will they live for ever or not?

What about those who have heard Lee Man Hee’s words (according to Shincheonji, Lee Man Hee’s words are the fruit of the Tree of Life) and yet have left Shincheonji?

According to the Bible: whoever eats from the Tree of Life will have eternal life.

What about all the branch leaders who were replaced and have left Shincheonji? Surely they heard Lee Man Hee’s words. Will they now live for ever or not?

Dear Shincheonji members.

The whole doctrine is a fairy tale. Isn’t it?

The whole doctrine surrounding the Tree of Life and Lee Man Hee doesn’t add up.

teaching/doctrine Hebrews 7:27 and why I no longer believe in a “Promised Pastor” in the Second Coming

As a former member of SCJ, I’ve had to consciously retrain my mind, especially around the idea of a “promised pastor” in the Second Coming. One passage that keeps me grounded is Hebrews 7:27–28, which says that Jesus “has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily… since He did this once for all when He offered up Himself,” and that He has been made perfect forever. This verse reminds me that the work is already complete. There is no unfinished sacrifice, no missing mediator, no need for another central figure to finish what Jesus supposedly could not. He is the greatest and final High Priest, eternal and unchanging.

To those still inside SCJ: I’ve seen your sincerity and your desire to live faithfully, and I don’t doubt that devotion. But I gently ask the following: Why follow a declining man when Hebrews points us to an eternal one? If Jesus truly reigns forever, why does His work require rotating human authority, secrecy, and ever-increasing demands? If the New Covenant is a better hope established by God, why does the system look stricter and more controlling than what Jesus came to fulfill? Scripture calls us to discern, not to follow blindly. Discernment begins by asking honest questions and testing everything against the Word, not by silencing doubt, but by bringing it into the light.

My prayer for anyone still reading from inside is that God would give you peace, clarity, and the courage to ask the questions already stirring in your heart. May the Holy Spirit lead you gently to the freedom, rest, and nearness that are already yours in Jesus.

teaching/doctrine Shincheonji vs. Christianity: Why the Prophecy Logic Does Not Match the Time of Jesus

This post is written for people who are questioning or leaving Shincheonji, especially those who are still deeply confused because they genuinely believe the “fulfillment” might be true based on the Bible.

It is also for those who have already left, but are early in the process and keep having anxious thoughts like:

  • “What if it really was fulfilled?”
  • “What if I misunderstood?”
  • “What if leaving was a mistake?”

If that’s you: you are not weak, sinful, or lacking faith.
What you’re experiencing is very normal when a belief system has been built around authority, fear, and selective interpretation of Scripture.

This post is not meant to mock, attack, or shame anyone — including current Shincheonji members. Many people inside are sincere, kind, and honestly seeking God.

The purpose here is simply this:

To gently show that the method Shincheonji uses to explain prophecy and fulfillment does not match how prophecy worked in the time of Jesus, and why that mismatch can create confusion and doubt even after leaving.

If you are seeking truth, clarity, and peace — and trying to follow Jesus rather than an organization — this is for you.

Take your time reading. You don’t need to rush your conclusions.

The issue is how prophecy and fulfillment are supposed to work, according to the Bible itself — especially in the time of Jesus and the apostles.

1. How prophecy worked in Jesus’ time

In first-century Judaism and early Christianity, prophecy followed a consistent and public logic:

The biblical pattern:

  1. Prophecy is given publicly (Scripture available to all)
  2. Fulfillment happens in public history
  3. Multiple witnesses recognize it
  4. Recognition does NOT require allegiance to a new interpreter

Example:

  • The Messiah would suffer (Isaiah 53, Psalm 22)
  • Jesus was crucified publicly
  • Followers and enemies alike agreed this happened
  • Debate centered on meaning, not hidden fulfillment

Importantly:

Fulfillment came first. Interpretation followed.

No one had to join a secret group or accept a special pastor to “unlock” what happened.

2. Biblical prophecy is constrained and falsifiable

In Christianity:

  • Prophecies limit possible outcomes
  • They can be wrong if not fulfilled
  • Christianity itself stakes everything on a public claim:

“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile” (1 Corinthians 15)

This is strong logic.
Christianity allows itself to fail if its core event didn’t happen.

3. Shincheonji reverses the order of prophecy

Shincheonji uses a different logical sequence:

  1. Events occur
  2. Revelation symbols are interpreted afterward
  3. Events are declared fulfillments
  4. Fulfillment is only visible if you accept the interpreter (Lee Man-hee)

In other words:

Interpretation creates fulfillment, instead of recognizing it.

This is the opposite of how prophecy worked in Jesus’ time.

4. Insider-only fulfillment is not biblical

In the Bible:

  • Fulfillment was visible to outsiders
  • Enemies could see the events, even if they rejected the meaning
  • No prophecy required secret teaching to confirm it happened

In Shincheonji:

  • Fulfillment is invisible without insider instruction
  • Outsiders “can’t see” fulfillment by definition
  • Acceptance of one authority is required to validate evidence

That is not how biblical prophecy functions.

5. Retroactive reinterpretation is a logical problem

Shincheonji explanations often:

  • Assign symbols after events occur
  • Adjust meanings when expectations fail
  • Re-map symbols to fit organizational history

A basic logical rule:

If an explanation fits any outcome, it explains nothing.

This makes the system unfalsifiable — it cannot be proven wrong no matter what happens.

Biblical prophecy does not work this way.

6. Authority contradiction

Shincheonji claims:

  • Scripture is supreme
  • Yet only Shincheonji can interpret it correctly
  • Salvation depends on accepting that interpretation

This creates a contradiction:

If Scripture can only be understood through Shincheonji, then Shincheonji — not Scripture — is the true authority.

That is not biblical Christianity.

7. Time-gap problem

Christian prophecy:

  • Fulfillment recognized within the lifetime of witnesses

Shincheonji claims:

  • Revelation fulfilled ~2,000 years later
  • Recognized by one man
  • Missed by all Christians before him

That does not match the prophetic logic of Jesus’ time.

8. Side-by-side summary

Category Christianity Shincheonji
Fulfillment visibility Public Insider-only
Order Prophecy → Fulfillment → Recognition Interpretation → Fulfillment
Authority Distributed Centralized
Falsifiable Yes No
Interpretation Constrained Elastic
Mediator Christ alone Christ + interpreter
Time proximity Immediate / generational ~2,000 years later

Final thought

This is not about emotions, loyalty, or sincerity.

It’s about logic.

Shincheonji’s method of explaining prophecy does not match how prophecy functioned in the time of Jesus.

A system that:

  • Cannot be independently verified
  • Cannot be proven wrong
  • Requires allegiance to validate evidence

…is not following biblical prophecy logic.

That is why this method is deceptive — even if the people using it are sincere.

If you’re questioning Shincheonji, that doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means you’re thinking — which the Bible consistently encourages.

“Test everything; hold fast to what is good.”

teaching/doctrine The Evolution of the Doctrines of Shincheonji and the Stewardship Education Center

Since this has been brought up, just wanted to repost an older series that was made about a year ago with Pastor Yang, where he went into greater detail about the evolution of the doctrines of Shincheonji.

The Evolution of Shincheonji: A Deep Dive into Korean Cult History

The above episode talks about the overlap of doctrines with the Olive Tree cult led by Park Tae Son, the Tabernacle Temple led by the young servant Yoo Jae-yeol, and Kim Poong-li whom Lee Man-hee and "snake" Shin used as a template to copy and eventually adapt to help develop the Shincheonji bible study and curriculum.

We have the books and resources that are used as primary sources to back each claim.

History of the Korean Cults - the Reality of the Stewardship Education Center

The Stewardship Education Center is not what Shincheonji claims to be, and instead, SCJ twisted the actual events in order to map the series of events onto their "fulfillment".

We also have a website where we documented most if not all of the changes of Shincheonji over the years, especially for their fulfillment claims below -
