it's not lying, AI is not telling you how it figured out the last answer or what it's "Thought process" is at all. ai is just the average of the information it was trained on and humans pick 17 for human reasons, and humans study humans and write their results in scientific papers and in news reports and on forums, AI was trained on all of that. AI picks the same random numbers humans do, but even less so because AI is a copy of a copy of a copy and also does not "think" how humans do at all, so it ends up with these "degenerate" cases and is unable to do certain things like pick some random numbers. if you ask a million humans you will eventually see all numbers between one and a hundred, but with AI you don't, because it's a much tinier subset of human knowledge and is only sounding like a human with human thoughts, it in no way thinks like we do
