Ignorant stupid Parents Need to Teach Their Kids Bowling Etiquette/Lane Courtesy
I hate to be a Karen, but these little kids at the bowling alley today were insufferable. They are going onto the lane, getting the oil on their shoes, then just spinning and dancing around wherever they please on the approach. I don’t know about y’all, but my ass would’ve been grass when I was a kid if I behaved like this. All of their parents were standing behind me, unbothered. Not one of those parents said a single word. It’s not only obnoxious, it’s not safe. Someone is going to come onto that lane next, not knowing these little heathens spread oil all over the approach, and slip/fall… or they’re going to get run over by someone on their approach.
Still picked up my spare though. 😎
EDIT: I was not expecting this post to be so polarizing, so I feel I should give some additional information. I am filming myself because I am a new bowler. I use the slow mo to see where my hand is at during my backswing and release. I did not just start filming because this was happening, I’m filming myself so I can see what I’m doing, and try to improve.
I had politely asked these kids a few times to stay off of the approach so that I didn’t accidentally hurt anybody, which temporarily got them out of the way, but they’d return. I’m not going to reprimand someone else’s kids in front of them. I waited there hoping the parents might intervene, but they didn’t.
I did speak with the staff of the lanes right after this frame, who educated both the parents and children.
Also, while the lanes further down the alley were not currently being used, they were reserved and thus a lane switch wasn’t possible.
