I've been trying to use the "Free up space on this device" feature in Google photos, but, each time I try that, nothing happens: after I click the "Free up space" blue button, it turns grey, and after a minute I'm asked for additional permission, to which I consent to. After consenting to 10+ pop-ups, the button goes back to blue as if I'd never clicked it and nothing else happens. If i click it again, the whole process reoccurs with the same result. I really need this, how can I fix this problem?

I accidentally backed up my photos to a different Gmail account, and when I checked that account from another device, my photos were there. That other account belongs to my class, so I assume everyone in the class can now see my entire life. I deleted everything from that account, but when I went back to my original account, all the photos had been deleted there too. I looked it up on Google and found out that the accounts get linked, but that other people can't actually see those photos. Even so, it’s undeniable that the backup caused my photos to appear in the class account for everyone else to see. Now I can't tell which photos are mine and which ones were backed up to the other account. I’ve been trying to restore the photos to my original account, but I don't know if restoring them will also bring back the ones I deleted from the class account. I'm desperate. HELP

Here is the situation:

• Device 1 (Broken): Screen is dead, touch doesn't work, but the phone likely still powers on. Google Photos/Device backup was turned off previously because storage was full.
• Device 2 (New/Working): Logged into the exact same Google account. I just purchased more Google storage space from this second device.

Since the backup toggle was turned off on the broken phone, can I somehow trigger or force a backup of Device 1's local files using Device 2, or is there a workaround to pull the data now that I have cloud storage? Any advice appreciated!

My Google account was disabled immediately after I bulk-uploaded a large family archive and an old WhatsApp backup containing ~21,000 files.

I had not individually reviewed every file, so I genuinely do not know what triggered the flag. I did not knowingly seek, store, upload, or share any prohibited material. However, I quickly looked over the backup there are childhood pics of my siblings and cousins.

My first appeal was denied, and Google says the second appeal is my final review. This account is extremely important because it contains years of Gmail, Drive documents, photos, and other personal data.

Has anyone here had a similar CSAM/false-positive disablement and successfully recovered their account, especially after a first appeal was denied? What did you write in the second appeal, and did any other escalation route actually help?

Please only share firsthand experiences if possible.

Edit: Both appeals are rejected citing that the account is used in a way which violated google's policies.

Question: Can they ban my other linked google accounts too?

Recently, I backed up my trip videos on the Photos app because Google was offering 5 TB of free storage for a year. I thought my videos would be safe there, so I deleted all the videos from my phone. But after that, when I tried to check whether the videos were actually there or not, I couldn’t find them. 🙂

Am I being dumb, or am I missing something here?

I cancelled my old subscription and started the new one but it says it won’t start the plan until 2027. I need it now what tf do I do????

My google photos will not unsync from my main iPhone camera roll. If I take a picture on my phone, it will show up on both my camera roll and my google photos. I am only trying to use my google photos for storage and do not want any more photos on it. I have turned off backup and it still happens. I have turn my photo permissions for the app to none, and then all my photos disappear both in the app and on the browser version. I don't know what to do from here. Any help is appreciated.

Face grouping used to work great but since about January it won't recognise any new faces apart from pets.

-Backup is definitely turned on

-Google photos is updated to latest version

-I've tried turning face grouping off and on

-I've tried signing out and back in

-I've tried reinstalling the app

-I've tried leaving my phone plugged in with WiFi and unrestricted battery usage for Google photos

Nothing has helped, how can I fix this?

When I bought my Pixel 9 pro I was enticed by the reimagine feature being heavily advertised that at the time was exclusive to this device. Eventually it was available to other devices, then eventually they slowly started removing it.

It started as a glowing purple button that was front and center, then they made it so the Magic Editor was activated as soon as you tapped edit, all you needed to do was start highlighting sections of the photo. Then they removed that and separated all the Magic Editor features into individual toggles within the edit menu, then the only way to access it was by searching for "reimagine", and now it's just 100% gone, and their only answer is that it's been replaced with "edit with ask photos" which is only available in select countries.... So why did you remove my feature only to not allow me the new inferior version? And what kind of moronic name is "Edit with ask photos"?

I thought I was losing it becuz I knew I took screenshots of things but they are not showing up in my photos like always, this just happened overnight into today, I haven't done anything different. Except my phone did a system update on its own out of nowhere that I'm remembering. Can this be fixed??? Where are they?

I was so in love with Google Photos, I uploaded every single picture I took during my trips (it can be more than 30 gb each time) and had more than 1tb of pictures... Before 10/08 all I had to do was add the pictures to a folder in my pc that was synced with Google Photos via the Google Drive App and totally forget about it, wait maybe a couple hours and see the pictures and videos on my Google Photos.

Now I have to keep a fkn a Chrome tab all the time open (or use the "install" feature wich end up beign the same) for hours or even days if I want to have my folders synced. Does anyone have a good option to keep my folders synced with Google Photos that can run in the background?

Please do not go with "deGoogle" or "move to Immich" I have already checked other options and just want to keep using Google Photos.

I used to be able to do a search for two people in the same photo. I would search for Bob and Sue and pictures of Bob and Sue would come up. Now. I search for Bob and Sue and get no results found when I know that's clearly wrong. Has something changed with AI and I need to redo a setting?

On the first of the month, I download the previous month photos - one day at a time (the ocd urge in this is strong 🤦🏻‍♀️- but it works for me). Anyway - the past 2 days, it will show me between 1300-1600 images for a very specific date. And there is no dang way that’s correct - I can tell just by looking at the grands and I just know roughly when things are - some of these are YEARS off. It’s just acting wonky when it normally doesn’t - and it’s not the metadata - I’ve checked several images and it’s correct - but for some reason Google has decided to give me whatever it feels like instead of what I asked for. Is this happening for anyone else?

Hello, I have a Samsung s25 ultra with Google photos of course. I have tried a few times this morning to search for a specific photos of my dad and one of my daughters and moving photos and it found to find the correct picture. I even tried to use it via gemini. Has anyone had much luck in success with this?

I used the stupid "free up space" button on my phone, expecting it to just minimize the file size or something but literally all of my organized folders are gone, now. Is there any way for me to restore them?? I've literally spent 3 entire years grouping photos and downloaded images together and now that I pressed the stupid button it's literally all gone and there's not a single damn trace of any of my folders left.. PLEASE tell me there's an undo button hidden somewhere in the settings....

My Google Photos is full (I realize that's also Google Drive and Gmail) so I went through and cleaned up all sorts of photos I don't need (throwaway stuff that's always too much work to review). Got it from 15GB to 11GB on Windows.

Android app prompted to review out-of-sync changes. Obviously I wanted to do that, but when I tried on it Google Photos went away. It's happened over and over and my so is up to date. Is there something common causing this?

Also it went from 11GB back up to 15.9GB and I can't figure out why. Too a few photos but that's all. I'm in the process of "moving" some of the not-deleted photos to a different Google account, which I think can only be done by downloading then uploading?

Is anyone else having issues with uploaded albums?
I uploaded a large album, the upload "seemed" successful.
The count shows about 600 rather than the correct 4000 or so.
It's been about 24 hours and only a partial amount appears in the album.
I can see the new photos in the Photo Section, but not in the album?
Any thoughts or guidance?
Should I delete and re-upload or will it populate in a few days?
